talk...i dont think so,but communicate, pretty much yes.animals communicate with each other very well. i believe that one of the important reasons humans are on top of the food chain is because of their intelligent communication.

Hi shav: I agree with you. There's a difference between communications skills and talk. You need to have communication skills to talk but to talk is just one of the ways of communication. So it's correct to say that animals communicate each other but they don't talk. Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day. ALVARO

They have their own languages and they could communicate in the same manner as human though the way they speak could not understand by human because they are animals so they communicate with their own. Though if human could be able to invent a machine where all the animals languages could be translated. i think the eating or poaching of animals would be reduce when we already understand what their mean including their pain.

I agree Neelia, Translator will give us the best solution to stop animal abuse and poachers and hunters not only be lessen but be banned for life because animal rights advocates will protect them and can be helped if they have a health problem. but i think even if we don't have the translator, it's still our duty to take good care of them since we are the highest form of animals

Yes animals have their own unique ways of communication. I am sure that they do not fully understand the way us humans communicate either. They talk with themselves. You just wonder what they are truly saying behind our backs about us. Are they praising us? Or are they making fun of us humans? Or are they trying to plot our downfall? There are a lot of questions to be answered for certain. I have really no idea what it would be like if animals and humans could communicate with each other. Right now, the conversations are very one sided, if there is anything going on. I think that it would be intriguing but I think to some extent, animals value their privacy. If humans could understand then, it would be something that they would consider to be not too good.

Its a nice thought but i don't think animals speak like us humans do. We use mostly words while other animals use emotions for example their tone or whatever. This is only what i think :)

Hi! I think if they are your pet, they can understand you when you communicate to them, even with your body language. They too can communicate like dogs they bark and whimper and you can see in their eyes if they are happy, sad or sick. I beleive we just need to observe them more so we can understand them.

Surely they can but in their own signs and emotions. All of the sounds they create have meanings and only these animals can understand it. I watched national geographic before and they were studying about the sound of dolphins and what signal or the meaning of the sound they are giving. I think it just not humans can speak but all of the living things around have different ways to communicate to same species.

I'm not sure about any other animals, but I believe that birds speak to each other. The birds in our garden are always making a noise, and it would seem a bit stupid if they were doing all that for no reason at all. We have ducks in our garden a lot, and I know the noise one makes to the other before they fly off. You pick up on certain "quacks" that mean different things. I know that sounds completely stupid, but it is true.

It is proved that animals use the body language and emotions to communicate with each-other. They warn their mates about the upcoming danger or chase off the individuals they don't like. What may seem just a pointless screaming of a monkey can actually be a warning sign or some kind of request. I think that if animals would be given ability to talk to humans, the relations between man and the nature would be brought to a completely new level. For example it would be much harder to kill animals for food, because animals would be able to express their feeling and the whole procedure would look much more horrible because of that.

Animals do have their way of communicating with each other. They have a language of their own which oftentimes they use to communicate to us humans. For example, I have a cat who once was about to deliver her baby kittens. she had been following me all around the house trying to catch my attention with her meows. When I tried to listen to her more closely, she kept pacing back and forth from me then toward my bedroom door all the time meowing to me something. Sensing something unusual in her behavior, I opened my bedroom door to let her in. she did and went straight to one corner of the room. Not long after she delivered two cute little kittens. Another instance was about my dog. One night in the middle of deep sleep, I was awaken by his constant barking beside my bed. I hushed him down to keep quite but he kept on barking as if to tell me something. I stood up and he too stood up then ran toward the door. I followed him downstairs to find the kitchen door wide open. After checking around and finding nothing missing, I discovered some footprints by the door evidence of a burglar who gained entrance but left hurriedly when my dog started barking. I do believe there is such a thing as "animal talk".

of course they can talk to each other, but not verbal in words as we human beings do. they just pass the message, every specis in their own way. well, if animals could talk to us, they'd be intelligent enough to not let us abuse them as we do now. in my opinion definitely a better world in that case

yes, i agree with you that animals can speak their own language but other species couldn't understand. and i think it's interesting that all animals(of course include we human beings)can understand each other through only one language. if that ,i think our planet will be great and we'll all in peace because we know the opinion of everyone and know how to communicate with everyone.

Like Humans, animals have their own language, thus they can speak to other animals of the same kind. We, however, cannot understand their language because we were not exposed to their language.

i would freak out if an animal was able to speak like a human! i'll go bananas! ahaha. well, in reality, animals do not really speak. because speaking requires a language where words are the building blocks. and animals do not have words. dogs bark, cats meow, rats squeak... but they don't really have words. one of the man reasons is that their brains are not structured to have verbal skills. animals do not speak to each other, unlike humans. they communicate. ;-) i would love to talk to a dog if ever this becomes real. it would be fun knowing what dogs think about. ;-)

Hi dream sharmim: well I won't say speak because speaking it's a really complex process. I would say that animals communicate their emotions but I won't say that's speak because their emotions are less complex. I mean, if you can talk to a dog, I think the dog simply would say things like "I'm hungry", "I want to play", "I want to be out of the house", "I'm angry". I think that, if we could understand their feelings we would be better pet's owners. Thanks for starting this discussion. Have a nice day. ALVARO

Animals have their own language like us with a particular strange tones, they thing we are strange and we thing they are strange.animals surely communicate each other, mainly through their own actions or signals which only they can understand. well talking is not bad so far but the intelligence is bad,the more the intelligence the more it will turn into worse like us,we invented many things in life that most of them are dangerous and bad too. its better that animal stay in their own form.

Animals communicate with emotions, where humans communicate with words, which is one of mankind's flaws. If animals were to learn how to speak like us, and understand things in terms of words, instead of feelings, they would have problems like us. We would probably start to have conflicts with them too. Lets just hope it isn't the sea otters who learn how to speak. Or else they will destroy us all with their ostrich cavalry.

When I was raising horses on a farm we learned that they do communicate but its not through "emotions" or "talking" its through body language. For example if you were to come straight at a horse they might assume that you are indeed a threat. However, if you were to approach the horse walking in an arch or rainbow they wouldn't see you as much of a threat instead they would see you more as a friend or pal. I can't really say that this is true for every animal but its rather easy to believe. For example before a cat hisses the first thing they do is aim their ears back, the hiss is just the second line of defense and the same can be said for dogs, usually they warn you before they bite you. There are all sorts of signs they give you, they may not understand everything but they know how to warn if they feel like they are in danger, or want to be petter ;) -Wickedspies
