Cats with Personality

I have a cat that I got as a kitten. Misty was part of a feral litter. For a long time she wouldn't have anything to do with me. Now she is too funny! She's very smart and knows that if you turn the doorknob, the door opens. I've caught her trying to open the door that way but her little paws just can't get it to turn. So she will mew when she wants out. Still not too affectionate, so I was considering giving her away...maybe as a barn cat. Then she started purring for us when we put her under the blankets on the bed. Now she will actually mew to us when she wants under the blanket and wants to be petted. She still will not let us "love" her out in the open...she MUST be under the blanket. It is just too cute! Okay, Cat owners...tell me about your cat's little quirks and personality. What is it that they do that just makes you laugh or your heart melt. I want some really good stories that I may include in an article I'm writing. Happy posting!

I have had three cats, all of them found on the street when they were kittens and all of them male. The first cat I got, I found him when he was about 1 month old. He was very friendly but he never liked much cuddling and he was extremely lazy, even for a cat. He wouldn't even wash himself, and he was getting pretty dirty, which is strange for a cat. He never liked hugs or sitting on us, he'd prefer sit next to us. The second cat, I found it when he was 3 or 4 months and he was the most benevolent, easy-going and cuddly cat I've ever seen in my life. Even when he was a (huge) adult cat, little kittens could easily approach and eat from his plate, as long as he was not eating himself - he would always let them. He'd sleep always on me, despite my trying to teach him otherwise and he'd jump on my lap on every opportunity. Even the veterinarian once told me that he had never seen such a good cat - it was once that I took him to clean his ears and it must have hurt him a lot, but he didn't react aggressively. The last cat I had, a cat that I found with 1 month is still alive and has now 6 years. He is very cuddly, but he's also hyperactive, and he sometimes scratches and bites as a game. He can be playing for hours, he jumps on shelves and desks, he knows how to open doors and he hides in the most improbable places. Some friends think he's sly, cause he might be curling on your lap, purring and, out of the blue, he will bite your hand. However, I think he is doing it to display affection and not of aggressiveness.

Just check thru this interest for stories I've told about my cats! Now, I have a mostly feral guy, Gizmo, who doesn't want to be under the covers, but will jump on top of me for pets when I'm in bed. Another cat, Rygel, took the comforter off my bed this morning. He likes to play "mousie-under-the-covers" so much he'll even BE the mouse! It got so bad about him stripping my bed that I didn't even make it for a while.

Oliver, the black and white kitten in my avatar, was a week old, we had to bottle feed him. He's now almost 5 and a great spoiled boy! Rygel is the other cat in the avatar, he raised Oliver from the time he was 4 weeks old.

how fun! Chester was too young when we first got him so he spent the first few weeks in a hammock I made in my shirt and we spoon-fed him soft cat food until his jaws and teeth got strong enough to eat the hard stuff. Now He's a year old and the most loving kitty in the household. He's quite the pest and has the worst litter box habits! We have a box covering the litter box and instead of covering his deposits with litter, he tries to scrape the walls of the box over them! LOL

My cat Smyles is a character. He is very much affrctionate. He lays in bed with me and my husband and last night Smyles got jealous of my husband and tried very hard to get my husband to get off the bed. Also, he loves the soap opera The Young and the Restless. He sits on the remote control and will not allow me to change the channel. It is his tv set. He stares at the women (luckily he is a boy cat). He also jumps in the shower with me.

My cats are both different in their own little way. I have, or I should say we (my partner and I) have two cats. The eldest, Precious, I've had him ever since he was born. Well as close to born as I can get. (I got him as soon as he was weened from his mother.)Though that was a long time ago. He's about 11 now. One of the things he does, is he'll sit in front of a door when he wants to be let in orut of it. George and I had to put an actual non-locking turn knob on our bedroom door. (The complex used push handles) because Precious knew how to push the handle enough to open the door anytime he pleased. And, that was anoying us so we replaced it with turn knobs. Instead he'll sit in front of doors if he wants in or out. keeps us and him safe, cause he's not sitting underfoot and stuff. Our other cat, Chinnia, I found her when doing laurndry. She's a real chatter box and shredder. She'll tear up cardboard, and other substences like it. Nothing's safe in her claws. The way she acts, I think she was raised by dogs.

Great story! I have four cats, myself, all rescues from the streets here. Besides Misty, which we've had the longest, we have Chester, Smoky and Boo Bear. They all have their own stories which I will share in individual posts on this discussion. They also have their own little quirks and personalities. I really want to write up an article to submit to my online content site. I hope you don't mind being included. This is great.

I have a longhair tortie (Taz) that I brought home from the shelter. She is a fun, smart cat and she shares the house with grey longhair grumpy cat Nikki. Taz knows the word "snack". She knows when I say "Do you want a snack?", she will meow constantly and walk around until the snack appears. Then, she will jump and try to catch the kibble in the air with her paws.
