Hello jugs,
My mom doesn't know much about computers, and she kept forgetting about it. and then one day my niece actually helped my mom create a facebook account, which is a miracle but i know my niece only want my mom to "give her gift in the fb game called pets" it's the kids now who is so fond of facebook and most specially it's games
and now my mom can't help but use it every day because her old friends are also active there.

Facebook is a great way to share photos with family members who don't live in the same area.

i think that's great! it's good to know that there are senior citizens who are not intimidated by technological innovations and are eager learn and participate. it's also one way of monitoring what the young people are up to.

My mum is getting a laptop for her birthday, so the children will have to show her how to use it before she can get on face book games, but for now she has an account that she can be adding her friends to.She has been using her ds nintendo ford playing games on for a few years now, so i know she will love all the games there are on facebook.

Hey good for her! It always helps to learn what the younger ones are doing. I had my daughter help me set up my FB acct last year. I've enjoyed the friends I have met.

hi jugsjugs!
good thing my mom doesn't bother to create her own facebook account. all she knows is how to go online thru ym chat and go check emails on hotmail and yahoo accounts. hmmm.. or else i won't be adding her up on facebook either if she creates a new one. well i have other accounts though. she can add my not active accounts. ahahah!

My son has set her a facebook account up so she can use it on her phone.I think that when it comes to her getting a laptop for her birthday it will take her a long time to work out how to turn it on as she has not got a clue.My children have to get a website up that she wants to look at as she has not got a clue,it should be a laugh seeing her trying to work it all out.lol.

My Mother in law totally did not understand facebook at all. She said she was getting spam because of it. I believe she was receiving the notifications from her account. She was really worried about it and closed her account after only about 2 days! LOL
I hope your mum catches on faster than my MIL!

By the way, all the teens at our church have facebooks and they really don't mind having the adults they know (including their parents!) as facebook friends. If they want to post something personal, they can always use "chat" or send a direct message. It's actually a lot of fun! The kids tease us, and we tease back!

I have added my mum as a friend aswell as told a few of my friends to add my mum as i think it is really funny.I think the reason she has joined facebook is that she likes to play the games and she wants to play the games on her account using the childrens laptops. Her birthday is in July so we are getting her a laptop, the children will show her how to use it.

lol..your mom sounds just like my mom. But she's not on Facebook...but she keeps asking my kids about the games to play. She doesn't even know how to switch on the computer and that's the first thing she learns. How to switch it on and get to her games (with the kids' help). She can do nothing else without instructions (each and every time).
She's always been this way (since my sister was in her teens and we got our first PC). In fact, we haven't been crazy about the computer games but she is.
My dad's on Facebook and he doesn't use it much...hahaha

lol =D I guess that should be so much fun, to be playing games together or against mom on facebook!! hehe ^_^ SOme ple might welcome the idea of their mon being on facebook, while some will not like it, as it's somehow invading on their privacy etc.. hehe
BUt no matter what, all parents meant good for their children, and as long as the children dun mind, i believe they will teach her how to navigate around.. hehe

jugsjugs three old friends have asked me to be on facebook and while I am pretty good on the computer as I have been on every since I was 56 I am
floored when it comes to facebook, it seems so complicated compared to mylot. wow. I will need to have my son guide me through this jungle. I
can use a computer but facebook is not at all like mylot, my gosh there are so many components.so I can sort of commiserate with your mom.

My mum uses her mobile phone to get to her face book and she is struggling to use that.We are all chipping in money to get her a laptop for her birthday as a surprise, that way she can play games on there rather than her nintendo ds.The joke is she do not even know how to start a laptop up let alone how to get to the internet on the pc.

lol my dad is the same way, he was curious about the games/apps on facebook, and got me to make an account for him, and add all the games that me and my siblings play.
He knows nothing about computers except how to turn it on lol, so he makes me play his games for him, like with farmville....he just sits besides me and tells me where he wants me to place what on his farm lol.
I gotta teach him so he can do it himself lol

I think that it will be very funny to begin with as she has not got a clue how to switch a laptop on.I think that the children will have to show her lots of times before she gets the idea.I am going to set facebook as a home page for her as that way it will be easier for her to get to the games she wants to play.

That is sweet and thankfully there are your children to help her! My parents are totally technologically challenged and my mother has been driving me crazy trying to master the mobile phone…She just doesn’t get it! My sister is upgrading her computer and wanted to give our mum and dad her old one. I explained to her that, if she does that, she can be the one to help them because I can see them driving me to drink!

The truth that it is very enterteining, the children of now already can handle from the cellular one, a computer and all his programs. There are many parents who have to ask his small children to help or to teach them to use Internet, since they have changed the times not? Equal there are many persons not so big who refuse to incorporate the technology to his lives.

She also shows me how to use my cell phone, which used to be hers!!!! Great for your mom getting into the real world as it is today!! LOL I am stuck on some of the games, too, and LOVE the farm on facebook!

Facebook used to be for college students to connect with each other but then their moms showed up and ruined it. Someone wrote a song about it and put it up on YouTube. You might want to check it out. I think it has some raunchy lyrics so keep that in mind.

My mom has only recently gotten a facebook account for the first time and I am really proud of her that she finally bit the bullet and got an account. The reason that we recommended that she have an account is because of the fact that my siblings and I had connected with many family members through facebook and we wanted her to have that opportunity as well. Needless to say, now that she has been on facebook for a while, she is now playing games that my sister is teaching her how to play.

Hi my friend....How is your day.
Thats what I call funny. I can imagine your mom learning from your kids. My mom recently learn how to use computer but sometimes she ask more question about what she did. Its seem he afraid to make mistake.
Now he is capable to turn on/off the laptop and play her favorite game Mad Caps. But thank God He doesn't know how to use internet and making facebook account or he monitoring our act online .
