Do you think children are being computer addicted? Dont you think they are being physically unfit and it may cause health problem? Now children have no need to go anywhere else if they seat in front of computer as it brings the whole world very close to them. They find all types of entertainment here such as games, tv shows, chatting, any topics related with their quaries and interests, they just get all these through net by clicking a mouse? SO they are loosing interests in playing games or in physical exercise or anything else such as handcrafts etc?
It seems that children are being not only physically unfit but also they are loosing their creative mentality and interests also. But dont you think all these are also necessary in life? So how much computer is safe for their health and mental growth?

yes i believe so. it can not only be cause someone to be overweight if overdone but it can also affect peoples focus and concentration. an example of being on the computer too much while doing other things such as multitasking(listening to music, having many tabs open on the browser, watching tv,playing video games)that causes people to jump from one thing to another so much that it can affect peoples focus and ability to concentrate over time. there was a study done on multitasking recently that verifies this.

I believe that the abuses are bad in any area of the life, then if we allow him the children to pass the whole day opposite to a computer we are committing a great mistake, and that surely him will bring problems of health, of social integration, physical development is the intellectual one.

I don't think kids are being computer addicted. Mainly because there are other things that keep kids busy. Which is video games. I limit my kids computer time, mainly towards educational programs. This summer, I plan on taking my kids to the library and getting them a library card. When I was there age, I would read all the time. There weren't any computers or video games to keep us inside. The internet does come in handy during the school year. As a parent, my kids are learning things, I have either forgotten or never heard of. So a computer is good for the mental health. Now with being safe for their health. Not if they are on it for a long period of time. This is the same with adults. So far, that is something I don't have to worry about with my kids. They rather be outside playing with the dogs, than playing games on the computer.

Yes, I think this is something that has been happening for many years since the Space Invaders first appeared. I remember how addicted children and adults were then. Nowadays, games are even more sophistacated and people enjoy the interaction so much that they will ignore things like keeping physically active, that will lead to all sorts of health problems. _Derek

Yes i think and i totally agree with you. For computer children don't go outside for playing. And they being addicted to computer. And medical also said that now a days children are weaker then before that because they are unfit they don't play sports.
Computer is also necessary but children parents can take step for there child they should take there child outside or should ask them for playing.

Some are I'm sure, but the parents need to limit a time for technology and a time for fun with other activities that require physical exertion.

I think it is more playing the video games, whether being on tv or computer. I think it needs to be monitored by the parents more.

Computer can be useful to children if they make a limited use of it. Being in virtual world for many hours may affect their health. It is very necessary that a child grows and is strong physically and mentally. Being on computer games for many hours may make them mentally and physically week. There are lot of ill-effects of sitting on computer for more than 1 Hour. Parents should keep a watch on their children regarding this.

yes of course but now a days computer is every thing in corporate ones.so dont put off the computer from children. Keep them away from computer after 2 hours a day. The two hours is also big so 2 hrs means that morning 1hour and afternoon 1 hour ok. There is one thing important dont see the computer at before sleeping time.

hi ,there is no need of finding the health in the child due to computer and there will not be any benefit there about talking about that.there will be a lot of choice that makes a child to use, and be with it foe hours.so it is in the hands of a parent to have a time limit with the child to use it both for the computer and the physical work he does and there will be a lot one have to go with.there will be a strict that the child have to have a small interest have to have in any game which gives physical health and then for the relax time the computer can be used and another thing is that
the child should be stopped from playing games and that will improve in all the things the mother wants..

If they are just alone playing in fron of the computer or TV, defi definitely it is very unhealthy. Children will loose social life at an early age as well. They don't realize yet its negative effects because they are still kids.I think it is the parents' or guardian's role to watch over her/his kid's daily activities and expose them to other recreations that would develop his physical, psychological and emotional aspect.

If they are spending too much time on computer then yes. Its not only for children but everyone who is too addicted with computers. So the parent will play a very good role on ensuring that their child is not just into computers. They should go out and play. Do some exercise. And of course always have time for studying.

Hmmm.. I'm not really in the same boat with you on this point. No doubt the computer technology is really bringing the whole world closer and really makes it pointless for one to even step outside of his/her room or house. However I don't believe that there are any young ones out there who is willing to give up on the joy of living.
I mean come on, you want to meet with people on the net and not in real face-to-face?? Scoring real nice chicks or cool dudes?? And what's more, there is the social interaction skill that can really get you what you want or the reverse effect..Ahaks..
I mean there is just too much on life to miss out on. And the problem with these children is they just lack the first exposure. Once they have seen it, believe me, they will be sooo away from the house that you'll really hope to see them more in the house.

Yes children are being physically unfit because of computer, but they are mentally very fit with their knowledge. Some children only find all the entertainment programs which are available in the computer, most of the children improves their knowledge by the use of computer, can any one accept this?

I think children are physically unfit because their parents dont get outside with them and play and show them the way to get up and get out and get fit parents want babysitters so they give themcomputers and not spend quality time with them more parents should spend quality time with their kids and grow flowers and vegetables and play ball old fashion games like we used to before computers were all the rage. If it was not raining or dark were outside and i raise my son the same way plenty of homemade popsicles and water balloons and water hoses and ball playing and planting

Hello there !
I really do think that not just children, but people generally are physically affected by computers.Though they are pretty useful, we just use them a little too much just to while away the time. People, especially children and students should learn to create a balance in this. We must know to do what we need. We might need physical exercise, but we would rather play PC games !
now that's bad. The time we spend with PCs, should not affect our health, if it does, we must follow remedial measures.
Well it is easy to say, but a lot tougher to do.
I shall try to keep myself fit, despite the time I spend in my computer.
Regards,
Ash

Yes it seems so. It's today's fashion trend. I think in order to practice getting physically the old fashion way has got to do something with the parents or guardians too. I know parent's are busy, but I mean, like playing with your kids or nephews etc even just a little extra time would be as helpful as would be. Giving extra effort to make them realize that sports or physical activities is still fun, like playing with them on the pool, or playing basketball etc. And also, I think it also has got to do with foods, especially chocolates, they have lots of fats that needed to be burn. Kids tend to eat a lot of chocolates when they are happy with something, especially video games or computers.

I think kids need to be reminded that having to experience interaction with other children out in the playground or other social settings is a lot more fun than staring at a screen that tells you when someone is typing their response. The only way to establish a neutral balance is to restrict the use of the computer at an early age so they don't develop a dependency on it. It will be hard considering that not everyone will be doing this with their kids. One must be ready to face obstacles while teaching kids about this potentially harmful addiction. If balance is found between the real world and the virtual world, I'm pretty sure kids will understand the importance of the balance as they grow.
