A pleasant day to all.
We know for a fact that generally, opening and reading our personal email is quite restricted in the office. However, as a whole, when there is a general rule, there always an exception.
In some offices, it is quite lenient to open the personal email. Somehow, it is not a big deal to the Employer if the Employee will browse and open the personal email account once in a while. Maybe as long as the Employee knows the limitation in browsing the net. Hence, the Employer continues to be lenient to their staff.
However, though some Employers are lenient, still there are some company's who still stick to the rule and that is browsing personal emails is prohibited. So, I think, its better to follow the general rule rather than to deviate from it.
How about you, were you tempted to open your personal email in the office?

Yes, it's not restricted on my workspace, I am free to check my emails whenever I'm not busy with something else. Many people also check their Facebook page or Youtube videos. There's no restriction at all, as long as we are not wasting our time surfing the net and it does not affect our productivity.
In fact I think that a good employer realizes that it's better giving more freedom to the employees and, in return, require responsibility, than trying to limit their activities and make them unsatisfied or in search of workarounds (for instance, a friend of mine is checking personal emails at work through his cell phone, which, in fact, makes email opening, reading and replying even more time-wasting than take 5 minutes to do in on the computer).

Well I don't think it is allowed in most office's but i myself do it and so do many of my co-workers.The boss does it to so as a general rule make sure that alot of people are doing it and never get caught. You could always play it safe and never use it but sometimes people just have to read an email when it is sent.
