Wayne Rooney - Who do you think you are ?

Wayne Rooney has criticised the England fans after the team were booed off after their dismal display in the draw against Algeria. Surely these fans had every right to boo. I know people who have saved up for 4 years to be able to afford to go and watch their team play in South Africa. Some of them are on about £20,000 a year a lot less than the £100,000 a week that the footballers get.
The fans who have scrimped and saved for 4 years to go and watch a bunch of prima donnas stroll round a pitch for 90 minutes have every right to boo, they have saved for that right. What right has this bunch got to wear an England shirt ?

They may well win on Wednesday against Slovenia. And they may just top Group C, but it will be with no help from there depressing manager Fabio.
If England dont make the next round in the World Cup I have a funny feeling Fabio will be the first person to be sacked from the squad.
Shame

OMG!!!!
Wayne rooney is a great/the best footballer in the world, i agree he did not play well last night but that was because there was hardly any service to him. Also then CAPELLO stuck him on the left in the second half a position is not good in i blame CAPELLO for the teams failure as he has got them scared to take any chances to score and so they are just trying not to lose matches at the moment. If the players were given the freedom to go and play like they can we would have won last night.
Also you cannot say that rooney is the only player who was poor last night the only player who did well was gerrard and barry but even he was not as good as he can be, i cannot believe JOE COLE did not play. I have given up supporting england in this world cup because if we cannot beat ALGERIA i doubt we will get out of the group stages.

There were plenty of poor performances but Rooney was the only one who had a go at the fans. Gerrard said after the match that the teams performance was not good enough, which was a bsolutely true, he did not slate the fans.

Being Scottish I thought Rooney and Co play to the best of their abilities against Algeria. Ha, ha, ha.
I totally agree that it was right for the money paying fans to boo their team of the pitch at the end of the game. Expectations have always been too high in my humble opinion.
Yes there are alot of talented footballers in the England squad, no-one can argue with that, but I think a heck of alot of the problem stems from the manager. He has absolutely no idea how to inspire the team to play together. It's his way or the high way, and I think that showed in the response he got from his players.
Green may have made the worst spill since BP in the first game but atleast he got a cap for it.

Hello, Glenn. That was without doubt the worst England performance I've ever had the misfortune to witness. Kids in the park on a Sunday morning could have played better. In any other profession, they'd have been sacked for putting up such a dismal showing.
Rooney and his team mates should count themselves lucky they were only booed off the pitch - I felt like strangling the lot of them, and if I could have got near enough to do it, I would have! We must be the laughing stock of the world after last night.

I agree. He and the whole team deserved all the boos they get and then some. They cannot even beat Slovenia!! Not many people are not aware of Slovenia as far as football goes; compared to England which, everybody seems to know and regarded as the Football country of the world. It is really shameful. And Wayne Rooney....never liked him and because of his outburst, never will.

I think Rooney needs to look at his performance in the last match. I think it was his worst performance in the three lions shirt till date. His first touch was awful and his industry was also not to be seen. I think he was really frustrated and he rented it out on the fans which is really poor of a professional footballer. I think someone has talked over to Rooney on his temper and in order to concentrate on it he has lost his edge. I think they would rather allow him a free leash to play without inhibition because he is that type of player.
Cheers!

Well, criticism has to work both ways I think. If fans have the right to boo, players have the right to criticize about it.
The fans of the game have been the ones to prop athletes up and then expect them to perform at their standards.
It's the ebb and flow of sports.
Maybe they should stop blowing those vuvuzelas during the game so players can hear themselves think.

Hi Glenn yeah agree with you totally. The English players need to concentrate on their game. They can't forget that they are performers and so they need to do that. The people has every right to boo them if they can't play up to the potential.Criticising the fans is not acceptable as it is the fans who make a superstar.I think the England team and specially Rooney is frustrated with his brand of football and therefore he decided to take his frustration out upon the fans which is not at all acceptable.Forget about blaming the fans Wayne concentrate on the game in hand and win it for your country.

Rooney has to accept the critiquesis one of the fans, always and when they are with respect and without aggression, since it is one of the big promises there is asked him mas that to the rest and on not having been able to give what the people try to see it gets disillusioned and goes mad.

Would we expect Plato to be a force on the football pitch?
Anything after the whistle blows to signal the end of the match gets too much attention and detracts from making positive tactical and perhaps disciplinary changes. For me, this is a non-issue and didn't see the rant, just as I care not to see a Streaker, unless actually at the match and he or she is rather good looking or promoting some unusual asset ;)
