Like usual, I walk along the road nearby the river after dinner. My roommate companys me on my left side. When the dark gets down, half moon shows her face, now I can tell that it's the Tenth Day of May on the Chinese Lunar Calender and there will be a beautiful full moon up the night sky in 5 days. Well,Which do you prefer? A full, more than half, less than half or just a cresecent one? In the distant ancient China, a full moon always makes these who are far far away from home get really homesick. Key is its SHAPE is round and there is a phrase with characters “??”and with Pinyin "tuanyuan" in the Chinese language meaning every family members should unite together and feel the family warmth happiness and joys. So this bright beautiful full moon for these who were not at home would make them think of their beloved ones more than usual, esp. for the newly married or newly parents(for the grands will take care of their children). Now things change. The info era. The Hi-Tech era. And there are lots of true affection and caring even in the virtue world. Ha~ So, I wonder how often and by what means do you send hearty greentings to your beloved ones ?

I love taking a walk or just sitting at the veranda with my wife when the moon is full. It has this romantic effect on the atmosphere that we just feel contented sitting or walking without saying anything to each other. It became a habit for us to do this everytime the sky is clear and its not raining, the view is just so great that we sit there for hours staring at the moon. I have never known that the full moon meant so much for the people in ancient China. It's something new to me. It would really be nice if the tradition still exists nowadays. But with the advancement of technology, we now have a lot of ways to let our loved ones know what we are feeling, this is one of advantages because even if they are far-away its now easier to reach them. I usually go with sending SMS or by calling to greet them during special occasions. For those who have internet connection, I send emails or chat with them as well. But I still send greeting cards by mail even if it will take a little time to reach them. I do this on Christmas and on their birthdays.
