The sun is white and the primary colors are magenta, cyan, and yellow. Throughout elementary school I was taught the sun was yellow and it wasnt until high school that I learned what were really the primary colors and that red is really secondary.
It was the sameway for my sister and I dont understand why?
Why cant we be taught the truth first and not the lies? Wouldnt it be so much easier in the long run?

well. the concept of teaching has changed to READING BOOKS only. and, no practical fact-finding. so, light travels in straight lines, for the first 15 years, or so, till you graduate, and then, when you start doing some doctoral research, you will be told that light travels in packets, and in zig-zagged pattern. like the path of a snake.
i too thought it not so amusing. and then, I understood ..that the flaw is with the EDUCATION SYSTEM.. blame the concept-designers.
and, can you stop your younger ones from learning the same way? ... NO.
most of the parents, today, select schooling... just to see that their kids are taken care, while they are busy making money. .. and, not for the sake of education.
thanks

I would like to join that, if not as a PATRON, at least as a student. If you allow old-age persons.. that is.
and, I know you are also from INDIA.. so, why not we join hands.
in fact, one of my friends started a concept .. called :"VEEDHI BADI" .. meaning, street school. And, you know, he ran into huge losses, and closed down...
hahahaha. FREE? . lols. try me!~

Yes old-age persons are allowed, Im actually from USA, but I have very very long arms so we can join hands. :)
I like the "VEEDHI BADI" concept.
Free can work just like a lot of public library is free. In fact it will be like a library with teachers walk ins welcome. :)
With help from teachers that are retireing but still want to teach and organization and upkeep this can work.
"Money was created by man and so can be destroyed by man" GA.
just came up with that:)

I have never heard that the primary colors are Magenta and Cyan.. Yellow well, fine. Second, there are two ways of stating the primary colors. RGB(RED-GREEN-BLUE as in TV) and RYB(RED-YELLOW-BLUE as seen by common sensical experiment: for instannce you could get green by making a patch of yellow crayon and over writing it with blue or vice versa). To me it looks like color triangle as it is called could rather be considered as a color circle. Any where you start and mark off in sequence three colors with subtraction or addition one could think of the set as primary colors. The real logic that must be tested is whether with the particular set of three colors, if you could express all the others in the color spectrum.

Well I wouldn't like to take Cyan as Blue for it is too light a shade of blue. For me blue means sky blue on clear sunny day. Or the color of water in sy Lake Taho.

Cyan is just another name for blue, Magenta became a primary because with the traditional primary colors Red yellow and blue, magenta and cyan could not be made. But when mixing Magenta and yellow you can make red, cyan and magenta makes blues and purples, and then the rest of the colors. Except for black, theoretically mixing all primary colors in just the right way even with traditional RYB should make black but instead make an ugly brown. I agree that no matter what three colors you use you should be able to express all the colors of the spectrum.
Thanks for your opinions. :)

It must be complicated to teach it to children so teachers go away with the complications. However, I agree that "the sun is white" should have been taught so as not to mislead children. They usually stick to what they have learned first in school and even if parents correct it, they still believe the parents.

It probably would have been to difficult for elementary students to comprehend, but it couldnt have been that complicated to teach or at least for my teacher to teach. The way he put is that if the sun was yellow then all things on Earth will be tinted with yellow and there will not be blue oceans or even the color white, white will be yellow reflecting the yellow sunlight. But some of the simplest things can become the most complicated.
Thanks for your response.

i learned the same way too..lol maybe its too complicated to explain for the children...)lol...or maybe our teacher thought the sun was yellow also.. youll never know..or sometimes maybe we are just assuming that it is yellow...since we cannot find the right color to put when we are drawing the sun..
anyway nice info:)

I have felt the same about my teachers not knowing the sun is white, but that bothers me as they have already completed high school and surely some college. Hmmmm
