Hi Mylotters!!! Vuvuzelas are the African horns,as far as I know and I am very newly introduced to this fact.I really cannot listen to the football commentary properly due to the strange sound of the "bees" that is produced from this horns...Its not soothing to my ears at all. So what do you think about this VUVUZELAS???? Do you like it or you don't like it??? Please share!!! Thank You!!

Yes, Vuvuzelas and South African football go hand in hand. That is the buzzing that you hear in your tvs when you are listening to the commentary. There was a lot of concern raised by the TV coverage crews who wanted these banned for these matches. But South Africa held firm and FIFA finally agreed to let the Vuvzelas in the ground. Personally I love to see local touch in world cups, so I like the vuvuzelas. Cheers! Ram

Actually the Vuvuzelas irritate my wife, so she leaves me alone to watch the games. So I guess for me it allows me to concentrate better on the game :D Cheers! Ram

Thats very nice.... But can you concentrate on the games, when that huge noise is on??? Its tough, I think, specially when you are at the stadium, where the match is taking place..

Well they are not newly introduced as they have been around for a while. The only difference is that there are a lot more people using them. With not being able to hear the commentary that means the television channel has not set up their audio equipment up properly.

No,the commentary is ok.. But whenever I am putting the volume of my TV set a bit high, the commentary is accompanied by the huge noise of the horns...I don't find it ok!!

haha well turning up the tv does turn up all of the noises made by the tv. The only way you might be able to fix that is is in the audio settings.

i never really heard the sound of vuvuzelas yet so far... but i had read the news on the newspaper here that the sound is really very disturbing for the audiences and the players as well... so i think it has been banned now to be use in world cup 2010... i'm not really sure though... take care and have a nice day...

I think i know what you are talking about. I dont watch sports at all but yesterday i was at my daughters house for awhile. My son in law was watching some sport and the whole time i kept hearing this buzzing. It was like they had a container of bees or flies near the speakers. It was so irratating. My daughter kept telling him how annoying it was to her. When i asked him what it was he said he didnt know. But he finally turned it off after awhile because it bugged him too. Maybe thats why they use it. To distact the oposite team and make them lose.

well..it is unique the first time i knew about it..and yes it was during the first day of world cup.the sound is sooo loud and whenever i watched a match.it felt like millions of bees hovering around the stadium..!i read in an article that it is the loudest instrument ever..it can also make you deaf ya know..so i think if you stay in the stadium and watch the match, surely you will be pissed off and thinking of just watching it from tv..but i think to african it;s ok because they maybe used to it..so it maybe like piano to us..the vuvuzelas does cheer up the surrounding..i do wonder, how do the players calm themselves in such surrounding and at the same time trying to score for their country??that's tough...

yeah same here!! In the beginning, I thought the [sound of bees] was somehow related to my tv itself as I thought something wrong with the TV cables hahahahha I didn't actually like this world cup event as the music itself buzzing me off besides, not so many people seem to be overly eager to watch compare to the previous world cup in 2006!

I think Vuvuzelas are disgusting...no offenses to my African friends. They are disturbing and irritating to both players and spectators alike. If they sound so cacophonous on TV,I wonder how irritating they would be when hearing them from close.I think they are just a source of nuisance and they should be banned.Prolonged exposure to them might create some auditory problems.

its just the cheering part of the game and nothing else but some may feel that its a didturbing element and cause of injury to their ears but hope they are more intrested in enjoying the game rather than complaning it just lightens up the atmosphere to the surrounding arenas and thats all

Cheering is the most essential part of the game.. Without the cheering and the fans,we just cannot think of a great event like this. Thanks for your post.

These vuvuselas are unbearable, bother the journalists, the players, to the public in general, then because the fifa does not prohibit them and the problem was ended.

Vuvuzelas are starting to be a little annoying but it makes an atmosphere that is ireplaceable and unique. They've made a lot of cash selling those weird sounding instruments, selling them for 10 euros, and having only 10 workers is great, they'll share the money very easy. Fifa tried to bust the vuvuzela sound out of our tv's but that didn't work out, for the better I guess, they will be the thing that wel'll keep on talking about after the world cup is over and 2010 will be remembered with it.
