I have tried oatmeal a lot of different ways. It is so good for the body. I like to use the whole grain oats that you actually have to cook for a few minutes.I usually cook it and at the very last few seconds I add some frozen blueberries. Then I put 1/4 cup of walnuts in it and some honey to make it a little sweet... great start for the day. How do you like your oatmeal?

Yep, those are really good. And they are easy to make as well! Just add hot water! But then there is a lot of sugar in them too! I like real strawberries or blueberries in mine too!! Hey - it's still good for you no matter what form it takes!

I don't. I don't like it at all, Macdingolinger. Growing up, my mother tried everything to get me to eat it and I remember holding my breath to swallow it and often gagging on it. I was not quite 4 yrs old when my Aunt got married and I was the flower girl. I spent the night before the wedding at my Uncles house. In the morning he figured I should have a good breakfast and he fixed me a big hot bowl of...you guessed it....Oatmeal. Not wanting to upset my uncle, I somehow managed to get that bowl of oatmeal down. Do you know that incident is the only part I remember about that wedding? So I have to tell you that the only way I like my oatmeal is when someone else is eating it. Oh...If it is in cookies and especially the kind with chocolate chips then I love it!!

It's probably the texture. I'm sorry you don't like it. It really is good for you!! If you can swallow it of course! At least you can reap the benefits in cookies!

Yeah, brown sugar is good. I don't usually keep it around but I almost always have honey around. It's usually what I use to sweeten things instead of the sugars. Occasionally I use raw sugar...

I simply cook it with water and salt. Mu friends adds buttermilk to it, she loves the taste. I have tried to prepare pancakes with powdered oats. I add it to the ferment batter of rice. it comes out nice.

I have added oatmeal to pancakes. They were pretty good as long as you don't add too much. It'll make 'em real heavy when you get too much oatmeal in the batter! (ask me how I know! lol!) I can't imagine oats with buttermilk.. hadn't heard of that one.. sounds nasty actually!

I like my oatmeal thick. I don't like it very milk-orientated. My favorite flavor is maple brown sugar. I love to put extra brown sugar on it! I love to eat when I have a hectic day with many things to do and not a lot of time to eat.

i just put honey on it. I don't use brown sugar very often. I don't put milk on it either. I remember mom putting milk on it when I was a kid. But since I don't like milk.. I don't want it on there now!

I have to eat oatmeal now to help lower my cholesterol. The doctor thinks that I may have a high level of cholesterol so she had requested me to go on a diet for 2 weeks. With that oatmeal and whole wheat are playing a big role on my diet. I love chocolate flavored oatmeal. I'll just a scoop of milk and I already have a delicious breakfast. Sometimes I would add more water so that it be like a ready to drink cereal.
I also love oatmeal cookies. I have used oatmeal before instead of breadcrumbs for a fried chicken. I guess I should try to experiment more with my oatmeal.

I like my oatmeal to have milk and a little sugar, as simple as that
I do not like it with any fruit or nuts. I also like it cooked, not a big fan of "instant" food like those where you just add hot water.

I prefer cooking my oatmeal too. It's been years since I ate it with sugar and milk. That's the way my mom used to make it for me when I was a kid. I liked it okay. But add a little cinnamon in with that!!

Hi macdinolinger I don't like oatmeal but the way you prepare it sounds really good. I might have to try it one day soon. The only thing I use oatmeal for right now is making treats for my dog Cody. However, adding the fruit and especially the honey it sounds like it would give the oatmeal a great taste, better then the oats all by itself.

Oats alone are not real tasty. But I use honey and the fruit for lots of flavor. The walnuts add some flavor as well, plus good fats along with protein.

I like instant oatmeal when i am in a hurry. Otherwise, I do prefer to cook my oatmeal. I like to add brown sugar to it. I like it best that way. Instant or cooked, it's got to have brown sugar.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't eat it if I was watching my carbs. I try to eat a couple of servings of carbs (breads) each day. But I make them either a slice of whole grain bread or oatmeal or brown rice. At least they are good carbs!

When i was young my parents would always say to eat your oatmeal cause it's healthy and etc...I don't like the texture so i would always find ways not to eat it. As i get older i tried it again and still find it a little yackyy but i find ways to make it taste good.I would cook it in a few minutes and add a chocolate syrup, put a fresh fruits on it and sometime mix it with honey and banana.HMMM

Yeah, sometimes I like it with honey, banana and almonds. That's good heart healthy breakfast too! The consistency depends on how much water you add or don't add. It can be kinda gooey if you don't add enough water. You might try experimenting with some less or more water to see if you can get a consistency that works better for you! Because your parents were right, it's really good for you!

I like the steel cut oatmeal and that has to be cooked as well. I always put some sort of berries in it and I also like to use a container of non fat yogurt instead of milk. Sometimes, I will stir in a scrambled egg and eat the oatmeal as is.

I am a fan of eating cereal all the time. I can have cereal for all three meals. I more so like the kids cereal than anything. There are some grown up cereal i like, but not as many as the kids cereal.
I do not like the oatmeal at all, not a fan of it, i just dont like the gritty niss of it at all. But i will go for some fruit loops, apple jacks, fruity pebbles, captain crunch or stuff like that.

Funny!! I don't mind cereal but so many aren't healthy!! I also don't like milk so that makes it difficult to eat cereal too often!
