I am not a gambler. Nor am I a fool to get scammed. please note that. And, my intention in starting this topic.. is not to ask for your kind advices.. about NOT TO GAMBLE, etc.
I AM trying to tell you all that there are auction sites, where you can bid for a cheaper amount.. any of the modern gadgets. and, I have staked all the earnings of last month.. just to test..
it costed me twenty dollars.. and, I have tried to snatch away the APPLE Ipad, costing about 62000 indian rupees, for around 5000 indian rupees. that was my limit, and all the chips I purchased at the bid rivals site exhausted. ...
i am left with nothing in money, and chips.. but with an experience to share.
BEWARE of such tendencies....

ouch...twenty bucks is quite a bit to lose in current economic situations.
those kind of sites tend to prey on our inherent need for thrill seeking.. the more we sit and anticipate that we can get the item, the more thrill we get out of it, getting us all excited...and then it makes us get more & more chips for more & more bids..and if we lack self control, we go on and buy it to repeat the process so we can feel all excited and thrilled again..
i know. i almost got suckered into one once..

though i am still a 9 star rated General, and though you and vandana seem to have stealed out 10 star ratings.. .. we all think in similar lines.
i am glad . that you too got into this damp situation. that gives me solace and relief. otherwise, I had been thinking that I am the black-sheep amongst our group.
thanks mario. I know, i can take your shoulder for crying out my heart.. and, also use it to wipe my ... eyes. No, I am not vandana.. to wipe my running nose. I am a bit dry .. you know. with all the tension ..

These sites are one big con all they are after is people to buy bids!!
The adverts for them make it sound so good - 'Wii bought for £18', @Ipad bought for £22' - I joined and head 5 'free bets' - when I realised how quickly they went once you got in an auction and that you had to spend £30 to buy 50 more bets I just left the site as I could invisage those bets going in seconds without me winning any article.
As it seems has happened to you !!
Sorry about your misfortune, and good of you to warn others

thanks dear oldchem1... you have smelled the rat even before you got into the bargains.. .. I tried to monitor the said bids .. and had been looking at this particular site for over 20 days now. continuously. but, they have somehow, tricked me into that. The auctions that you see before registering seem to have vanished, after you bought the bids and registered.
It should serve as a LESSON to all those who browse the net for such sites.

As I am sure a lot of others have commented. These "cheap" bidding sites ar a come on. It looks like it will be cheap to buy something but there are so many bidders that you can come away with nothing. You can get caught up in biding with the small incremental bids and spend more than you expect. At least with eBay, the only bid you pay for is the one that you win with. It costs you nothing if you lose.

you are right. ONE should not lose any money, except may be a small fee for participating in the auction. I thought so. But, alas. these funny sites are doing a lot of lOOT.
thanks for sharing. YES. there was a lot of sympathy, and understanding.. going on here from my friends and all mylotters.

hi consultrainer I have so little spending money that I do not'even visit those places anymore, as I really cannot afford to lose any amount. I own an auction once on ebay for a parcel of paperbacks by Sue Grafton that I really did want and for just one dollar but the cost of shipping them to me just about took all the profit out of the d eal. but I sure enjoyed reading them anyway. but I never gamble more than can afford to lose. So that way when i went to the greyhound races I actually won five dollars and at the horse race I won fifteen dollars but I never did go back again. I am just not much of a gambler.

never did go back again... even if you win. even if you lose.
thanks for that dear Hatley friend..
now, there is a saying in our native language. which roughly translated means.. YOU have to search for the lost parcel, on the grounds where you have lost it.This is the notion of most gamblers. but, I have my caution and restriction.
goodluck with your reading.

i don't like to buy as it seems that they the owner of the bidding site, can manipulate the result and can manipulate who will win the bid. and i feel that i may end up spending a very big amount without winning any thing and i feel that i will just lose that win any thing. so i prefer to save the money and i will just myself at least though i spend big amount than by bidding but at least i am sure that i am gonna get the item and not just depend on luck on getting the item.

I appreciate your warning! I stick to EBay and I don’t often bid for items because I find that there have been several times that I’ve been the leading bidder right until the end and then, when there are just minutes to go until the end of the auction, bids start to come in and, because by this stage I’ve had my heart set on the item, I will continue bidding over and above what I budgeted for! I stick to the ‘buy now’ items now!

that is wonderful. i DID not check out the ebay, because, it is too much cumbersome there. and, the sellers and auctioners are individuals. I thought, dealing with a company is better and safe.
and, lost... that is the trick. ----
sticking to buy now, would be a very costly affair. AND, as I already admitted, it is my greed to get the piece at a cheaper price.. that caused me the embarrassment.
thanks for the love, and sharing.

Hey, thanks for sharing my friend. That's really a bad experience for you. Biding sites are the biggest temptations, just like most of the credit cards. They attract many people there because of the rewards affiliated to it. But they are actually bad and you should never put your future at stake. Now that you have lost only 20$, don't do the same mistake in future. Its alright to commit mistakes in life. But if one doesn't learn from the mistakes, then that is the biggest mistake. So always improve yourselves by learning from your mistakes.
@consultrainer (4991)

yes. you have mentioned one more temptation. CHARGE cards, and credit cards. I used to have one, some years back.. and they used to tempt me with all the offers. All I need to say, is an accidental YES to one of their tempting questions.. and, that is all to pull me into the deep abyss of CREDIT.
i have learnt the lesson the hard way. and request all online, offline friends to learn from my experience.
thanks for the support.

Hello
sorry, to learn about you loss, and yes, once at time, I too was caught by such site, and lost around 10,000 rupees ..but, that was a lession and I stopped completely, to buy bids,,
But, then later on a International site, I got some free credits and won a GC of USD 50.0, and they sent me an Ebay GC, so that was good part.
Howeve, still, I ask to be away from such biddings
Good Luck

oh. i am seing that other site also. they gave a free credit of 50 bids.. and, I am left with 38 as of now. I will be using only these free credits.. for any further BID-ITCH that I GET.
ONE loss is enough. ... the labor of 30 days.. .IN mylot.. lost in less than 2 hours? ...

Don't worry, these are just lessons that we learn in our daily life, lets be optimistic and think that at least you only lost 20$... Imagine if you bidded something for 2000$ and lost it...
So I'd say this is a cheap experience and hopefully you'll get the good points from this bad incident.
Good luck for the future too.
Regards.

thanks for sharing the pain. it is not the money that I lost. I have lost the confidence and love of my wife, for this night.. because I bluffed to her.
and, MY intention about this bidding is to learn. and I have learnt.
Honored with your blessings for a goodluck... for the future., but I will not have any more funds, nor time to play again.

I have lost money from sites like these as well. Its never a good idea to join these sites as you have to buy bids just so you can buy the item for one and two someones computer is always going to be faster and prolong the auction.
Auction sites even have people telling you when the best time to win is and I laugh at this because if someone tells when the best time to win is then more people will bid then and not other times that they said were bad which helps the person telling you this win more.

thanks for the compliments. I have learnt the lesson the hardway. and, it is not the question of admiting the mistake or not. and, you are right. not everyone will be admiting the mistake. .. but, in their hearts, they will be knowing their error.
We have a funny saying in my native language. One has to search for what he has lost, at the same place where he has lost. This is particularly PULLING .. to all those gamblers and stock-players. .. lols.

So you still lose credits on those kind of auctioning websites even if you don't actually win the bid. That's pretty stupid but still if you would have won you would have got an Ipad for an incredibly cheap price. So you just lose your chips if you don't win the auction? That doesn't really seem very fare to me.
@consultrainer (4991)

YES. You will lose .. before you could even win. that is the trick. and they would encourage you to buy more CHIPS.. it is all a big viscous circle. So, I would advice all my friends to be away from bidding. it is another form of gambling.

yes. very true. there are very many scamsters in the online virtual world. Sometimes, I wonder, if the real world is far better. there are less intelligent thieves in the real world.
most of the ROBBERS and HACKERS online are far more intelligent than average commoner.
I never will get into FOREX trade.

you are lucky to have avoided the temptation. but, I thought I have studied the trends of the site, as I had been visiting the site for many days .... and, they could grab away my money, very easily.
they did have a line of caution at the bottom of the registration and faqs page..
bidding will tend to give you huge losses in money.. be cautioned!
