about evolution vs. God- I use to be a major believer in God but now i just don't believe in anything or maybe I gave up trying to make myself believe. I guess i'd just like to hear what others points of views are! (*NOTE: This is not to persuade myself or others, just like knowing what others feel and I am not going to judge!)

Science has tried to explain all the natural phenomena going on in this world. The theory of evolution by Darwin does not really contradict to the essence of what God wants us to know. Prior to the theory of evolution, there is also the theory of how the universe came about, as explained by the Big Bang theory, but knowing all of these, my faith with God actually strengthened, because science fortified how wonderful God made all of these possible. And, by the way, as far as I know, nothing was explained yet regarding where all the sky dusts (Big Bang theory) came from.

That is where i get stuck because i think well nothing is proven about the theories but how is anything in the bible proven. Btw do you happen to know who wrote the bible? Just wondered about it for awhile...

From what I understand, the Bible was written by disciples of Jesus Christ (New Testament) or probably by the scribes who have heard the good news brought by the disciples. However, it is possible that through thousands of years there might have been some changes. And, the King James version that we are using right now have been revised already, I'm not so sure of this, but there were some sort of a consensus of high priests who revised, approved, edit the contents of what needs to be included or not in the Bible. But, in the end, it doesn't really matter, because the Bible is not supposed to be taken literally. It is full of symbolical language. What matters is how strong one's faith is.

Faith in God comes not from outside. Perhaps it would be better for you to leave things as they are now without trying to force you with questions. Over time,if you think you have to go back to religion faith...God will smile for you

God said "Let the children come to me" not "Children must forced to come to me"

I don't believe in any god that religion presents but I don't dismiss the possibility that some kind of god exist.

I feel the same at the moment. I don't know what to believe and there's really know way of knowing unless the heart wants to

If you consider the complexity of even the most minute organism, and the fact that man is unable to exactly duplicate nature, I don't see how anyone can deny the existence of a superior being. When you saw a computer for the first time, for example, did you believe it evolved over billion of years, or did you understand that someone with a degree of intelligence was behind the creation of it? The universe, all that's in it and the orderly way it operates is just too magnificent to have come into being without intelligence behind it. If you don't mind my asking, what caused you to lose your belief in God?

Really, i think i was always just a wanna be believer because even the times i felt like i really believed, the same things always popped into my mind proving i wasn't truly a believer and doubted his existence. It was always "Are you really even there?" "I'm probably just wasting my breath or talking to myself.." things along that line but i always tried to push it to the back of my mind and i guess one day i gave up pretending! I mean i still go to youth on Wed. nights and try finding him but the doubt just hasn't gone away.

In my youth I was also convinced that there HAD to be a "God". It wasn't until I was 22 that I realized that the reasons that I thought that are NOT valid. I then claimed that I didn't believe in anything as you just said. It was pointed out to me that I DO believe in REALITY. IMO REALITY EXISTS. Reality includes everything, is completely mysterious and unknowable. Reality is both good AND bad, and does not deserve worship. Want to discuss this further ?

We can if you'd like :) I've always been lost on this subject but i sometimes just had the mind set of "Im here, i don't care how or why ut I am" so i think i just never had an interest in really learning about it all. I just told myself i would but never did. . I guess that kind of goes along with your reality statements

The bible has been disproven hundreds of times. Archaeological finds have disproven the Bible. Scientific evidence has disproven the Bible. Contradictions in the text itself have disproven the Bible. Personal testimony has disproven the Bible. So many things have disproven the Bible it's unbelievable. Your pastor is either completely dishonest are completely uninformed. Please see my post below for just a few contradictions that are in the Bible.

opalina: I've heard other people say the Bible has been disproven, but to date I have not heard anyone give any evidence. They just make claims. If the Bible is false, prove it.

The only thing I would ask you to do is to look around at the world and ask yourself if all of this could have happened by accident. Just about everything is renewable or food for something else, the moisture in the air forms clouds that cause rain to fall which feeds the plantlife, sealife is interdependent upon each other and, while there are many variations of apes and animals, there is only one species that is man. If there was only evolution at play there would be different species of man.

It is very good for you to post this question. After reading all replies there may be a (good) change in your mind. Now come to the point: I strongly believe in God. This belief bring peace in my mind; specialy in hardships. And I lose nothing no red sence or no time to believe in God. And I will gain nothing, if I say , there is no God. I disturbe nobody, when believe in God. It is a matter of practice. If anybody strongly believe in God, that brings extra peace in their mind. This is my own experience. This doesn't mean that we can live with no problems, if we believe in God. That means we can stay steady in problems even though they are very hard, when believe in God.
