My very first reckless driving ticket!

Reckless? Me? Gosh! When it comes to driving, I bow only to Mr. Bean. I think my intelligence is somewhere on the spatial. I am just good at maneuvering, and the traffic police know it. They see me everyday. So these blue shirts would always give me a poker-faced glance whenever I pass them by. They know the confident me can glide smoothly amidst traffic. And sometimes, the arrogant me just shows off and I give them the. So, I think they don't like me very much. And so it happens, just when the horrendous traffic of EDSA , Roxas Boulevard, Quezon Avenue and Katipunan had diminished my upbeat sense, here comes a familiar blue shirt flagging me down for not positioning at the proper lane to make a U-turn to Marcos Hi-way. So he gives me a ticket for reckless driving! My only consolation is at least I received one in my life.

Moral of the story - bring crutches and bandages! Did he pass the test? He must. It is worth my month long subsistence budget. Gosh!

hi eileenhleyva I am reminded of my husband years back.He got several tickets for not coming to a complete stop. well he had been working driving a taxi and most of them do not really come to a full stop for some reason. but then our car was out of commission and had to be in the garage for several days for repairs. I teased my husband well at least walking you will not get any traffic tickets. He came home that afternoon and sort of shame shamefacedly showed me a piece of paper. He had got a ticket for jaywalking across one of the busy highways in Orange county. I had to laugh in spite of myself as that was totally unexpected.wow. So now you have the odd honor of your very first reckless driving ticket. But he was really very lucky he did not get hit as so many drive really fast and carelessly along Harbor boulevard.

That is quite a story, Hatley. Your husband must be quite a character. You two are extraordinary people. To be able to tease and to laugh while solving predicaments, to be able to take things in stride when things or situations seem so trying, and then chuckle in spite of, that is what I call genuine people living ordinary lives gracefully. I do hope you can write a memoir about your life. I know blogging here in mylot is already a recollection of what had been. But great stories deserve testaments. Great stories for me are not about the lives of people in the limelight. Great stories for me are those lived by ornery people who in their own ways have lived lives. Your jaywalking anecdote is a very good example. Put that in a movie and I will be touched. I just love you, Hatley!

Two decades is a long time Hatley, and yet your husband is very much alive in you. When I was driving through traffic and rain yesterday, I could still see in my mind how you two dealt with that ticket. Very amusing and very loving! You pervade the senses Hatley. You just have to write your story. And I did get to read about the pickles and your mom. That is what a story should be made of.

i have been driving for more than 20 years and i am happy that i have never been in a serious accident, only some crash on the motorcycle. but i have been issued several traffic violation tickets, overloading (for having more than one back-riders), entering one way street (well, i just followed the other guy. i was caught by the blue ranger when to other guy eluded arrest. ), red/stop light signal (i didn't saw the red light as i was following a hug trailer track and it was covered by the van).

Hi eileenleyva, i will drive my car at a normal speed. Once my friend Nidhi asked me to drive a little bit fast since she felt my driving is very slow and the car like bullock cart. I didn't see the line at the traffic signals at the end of Necklace road and i stopped my car before the line, next day i got a letter from them for a fine. But i learned a lesson, that i should not cross my limits and should be careful while driving, we should not neglect the traffic rules.

You do well to drive there at all. I have not been game yet and don't know if I ever will. The driving system there, apart from being on the wrong side of the road, seems to be without too many road rules and is pretty chaotic. Driving here is reasonable civilized. I must say that most drivers here would not last long driving there because you have to be a really good driver just to be in amongst it.

Mr. Bean? He is to die laughing for! I am amused too by the left hand lane driving that the British, the Japs, and the Aussies (just learned this from you) do. I've always wondered how you guys overtake? And then I realized that you have right hand drive cars. Must take a lot of getting used to but it can be done. Road rules? At one point is one of our major thoroughfares, when it's red, you gotta go!

My brother told me that some people assume a different character when they drive. Driving, according to psychology, gives the driver a different kind of power.

I almost never go more than 10 miles over the speed limit, and generally less, really depends on the road - I don't speed on neighborhood streets for example.

WOW!! Reckless driving!! Here in Australia, reckless/dangerous driving is defined by if you do burnouts, drive 40km or more over the speed limit & so forth...It does sound like the police have it in for you...Personally, I think that if you really did what they say you did, they should've issued you with a minor traffic violation.

That's fair enough plus I have noticed if you argue with some cops, the will issue you with more tickets

I know. It should have been a minor traffic violation. But I was too exhausted to argue my case. I just wanted to get home.

Hi Eileenleyva perhaps the laws of "reckless driving" are different from country to country depending on geographical location however I too received a ticket for reckless driving however I was not driving a car but instead a bicycle long story short I was pedaling to get to an evening "blood donor" appointment at a local VFW when I got hit by a woman pulling into the entrance of a fast food restaurant I got sent to the hospital for minor road rash injury (scrapes, cuts and a few bruises) however I also got 2 tickets totaling roughly $147

Oh greg! That is infuriating! But I am glad you were not hurt as badly. Keep on the safe side while biking always. We really never know what crazy things could come our way. Pray it never happens again.

I didn't have a chance to read your profile and see what country you are from. Regardless , if you obey the law of your land you will never get hurt. If you are driving, talking in your cell phone, smoking and drinking coffee then definetely you deserve a ticket and some time in jail. Again go by the book.

iloveme, I went around Manila, Philippines. Our traffic enforcers are trying to do their best to instill discipline in the motorists. We are getting there. And I am an obedient driver, too. The congestion was just too much.

Wow, I've never heard of anyone receiving a reckless driving ticket for that. I received my wreckless driving ticket on a highway, headed back to college. I sped because that's a 4 hr drive and quite dangerous by yourself if you get sleepy because it's a str8 shot meaning that I wouldn't know I was asleep for a lil second. The state trooper in Mecklenburg pulled me going 80 in a 55 and gave me a reckless driving ticket. He told me that anything over 20 MPH is considered reckless driving!!
