Can a big RAM could help if I don’t have a graphic card installed
Yes I am somewhat confused. Sometime this is said that a big RAM is needed in a system to run high end games. And also some time there is a talk about graphics card. So can you please tell me. That a RAM can be used as a replacement of a graphic card for playing games on computer.

If you don't have either RAM or a Graphics Card installed your computer will not boot, at least without RAM I know for sure it will not boot.Well a module of RAM will not replace a Graphics card no matter what you would do.A big module of RAM will help a bit for games but if you have an old Graphics Card you still won't be able to play new games because of lack of features like DirectX 10 or 11.Example: If you have a DirectX 9 Graphics Card you can't play Crysis on Very High because Very High uses DirectX 10 and will also lag on DirectX 9 because you have an old Graphics Card. But not only that is important, the processor too has an important part to play when speaking about games. In our day you need at least a Dual Core and a Quad Core is definitively recommended and while 64bit Operating Systems have matured enough 4GB of RAM is again, recommended. An SSD (electronic Hard Disk) will also speed up the loading of the games and Windows, if you install Windows and Games on the SSD, but for now SSD's are expensive.Every component matters and is there to do their job, but the most important for games are Graphics Card and the Processor exactly in that order.

graphic cards are also called video accelerators, it is used to speed up or show graphics that are not normally showed up by ordinary or built-in video card.
Rams speed-up game experience.
If you have high graphic card but low ram capacity, the game will run slow.
If you have high ram but low graphic card then some graphics would not show up during gaming.

No. You need a graphic card otherwise even the simplest games can't be played. RAM stands for Random-Access Memory and is used by the computer to safe and remove all kinds of data really quick, whereas the memory card is used to compute all the graphics of games.
Without graphic card your computer will work, without RAM your computer won't do much since the hard disk isn't really fit for such purposes. It will work but very slow.
In conclusion we can say that you need both.

Like others said, you need a graphics card to use a monitor (unless you have an embedded one installed). A lot of RAM might help you in other things (like photoshop, 3ds max) but for playing high end games it's pretty much a balance - you need both of them.

No. You will need a graphic card to play games. You will need a strong card if you want to play high end games. The RAM will certainly help your computer in running a game but it is not a replacement to graphic card.

As far as I'm concerned, RAM and graphics cards are used for two different tasks, so a RAM cannot replace the graphics card. Both are needed, and yes, more RAM is better than less, but a graphics card is also needed to play with these games.

Okay, RAM and graphic cards are two totally different things, and BOTH of them are needed to play video games on the computer. The more RAM you have, the faster your PC will run and the less lag you will have during play, on the other hand graphic cards are as their name entails, it's for the graphics (the images), the better your graphic card the clearer and better your images will be, also graphic cards often have built-in RAM that is specialized for videos and games. There are many motherboards that come with built-in graphic card-like functions so you wouldn't have to buy a separate graphic card, but those are only helpful for basic desktop tasks like using office software such as word processors, etc, they're not good enough for games, especially those with high level detailed graphics, you need a graphic card for them.
I think 2GB of RAM and a good graphic card would be good enough, but for heavy gamers more RAM is probably required, as for the graphic card I can't really say because it depends on your budget, graphic cards can be very cheap but also very expensive, it depends on how much you can take.

For graphic supporting you should have a processor with more speed and the motherboard should have additional graphic card mostly all the mother board having inbuilt graphic .Then RAM with high capacity and match it's FSB speed to mother board FSB .Make sure that the Board FSB is equal to the RAM FSB speed .Then only you will get the maximum performance of RAM .here more RAM help you to improve system speed

i dont think so.the task of a RAM is differ from that of graphic card significantly.we should not connect those two fittings together, they are both serve the computer system though.you see,a big RAM can elevate the performance of the system remarkably, and the graphic card is used to make the picture effect more exquisite mostly when we are playing high end games .the principle of those two fittings is distinct.the relationship of RAM and graphic card is not coordinate but mutual.without a graphic card installed, even if you have a perfect RAM,that doesnt have any meaning for comouter games player.conversely,if you have a wonderfull graphic card installed in your computer, and just a usual RAM there, then, that will not have heavly impact to you picture effect.so,a big RAM could offer any help when we are playing high end games.

I find that many people get confused of these two things. Actually, a graphics card creates the images that appear on your monitor, without it, you will not see anything displaying on your monitor. The kind of video card that you have will determine the quality of images displayed on your monitor. Memory or RAM is your computer's temporary file storage. Meaning, it holds the data on the software you are running. So, once you turn of your computer, all the data in the memory is lost. The more RAM you have on your system, the faster your system will be able to read and write data to be accessed by your computer's processor. Simply means that more RAM, the faster and smoother your computer will work. Hope that helps you. Cheers! :D

in my opinion, RAM do not have direct reference with Graphic performance. except if your graphic is shared with RAM (CMIIW). according to my experience on having an onboard graphic (shared memory), having a larger RAM means larger memory to run your programs. that's it

let me do it this way.... RAM is like a brain... your pc needs it to store lots of memories... graphics card is somewhat connected to your eyes... you wont see anything on your screen without connecting onto it. both are different pc components with different roles for your pc. but, graphics card sometimes has its own built in RAM to be able to help bring more speed and better resolution to your screen... with the MB or GB thing, those has something to do with the components capacity and speed. imagine having a body without an eyes or a brain. good topic!

I would like to add something to the discussion.
The question of bigger RAM for a better grahics performance applies to integrated motherboards. On an integrated motherboard a graohics chip is built in. It depends on the physical available RAM to function. In other words part of the available RAM is used by it That is why the actual RAM available for other processes is less than the real amount of RAM.
The user usually can allocate the maximum amount of RAM to be used by the graphics chip. If you have only 1Gb of RAM you wuld not want to allocate half of it to the graphics chip as this will slow down everything else. As an example having 4GB of RAM means I can allocate 512Mb of RAM to the graphics chip.
All integrated motherboards for desktops have a slot for a graphics card. A grahics card has its own RAM. This aids in keeping graphics processes away from the CPU. Thus eveerything runs considerably faster.
AMD Phenom for games.

well you can, if you have 3d analyzer and all search for it. And they say windows 7 has http://www.tomshardware.com/news/windows-cpu-gpu,6645.html warp10.
but you need a good processing core for this one.

Hi.
You need a graphics card. without it, you can't even connect a monitor to your system unit. If your monitor is connected but you don't have a graphics card, that means that the graphics card is embedded in your motherboard. If that's the case, a huge ram will help your built in motherboard but you can't play a high end games optimally. Your game would be slow or might have graphics problems.
If you want to play high end games, consider buying a graphics card that has high acceleration and 3d rendering

Like others have said, yes, you do need a graphics card. And some graphics cards are better than others. If you're willing to add a lot of ram, you'd probably want a nicer graphics card. Not sure which ones are the best quality, though.
