Would you post your Real Photo in the Profile Photo?

I feel that Mylot is a cool place to chill out.. during discussions, you would see the profile photos of the respondents, for a quite sometime I truly believed that the photos they posts are really their own..later I realized that some Profile Photos does not really belong to the real person using the account.. some Female members in Mylot are really Male and vice versa... some would lift the photos of a celebrity or their friends.. though there are no strict rules on unauthorized photo borrowing, I feel that if the intention is to fool people or to pimp friends and referrals... its a cheap trick and a short-sighted deception plan.. I don't know about you but there are true emotions, feelings and experiences seen in Mylot... If you're Lying or Faking a part of you, How truthful can you get in your discussions and intentions.
What do you think about this practice?

it is hard to trust people you talk to when you know, in the back of your mind that he or she is not what you think . but i think it is their problem! a person who shows his picture, has nothing to hide.
i guess it's like in the real world, there are a lot of deceptive people, and it is the same on the net.
you just need to look for the honest, if that's who you are
and i'm sure you'll find them
BTW IT IS MY REAL PICTURE :-)

Hello fish82
You have pretty face, nice~~
I think the person posting his/her own picture here is quite brave, I would not do that because I really don't want anyone might know me knowing I wrote something that may not please them. Sometimes, I think I need different methods express my true feelings and don't want anyone I know judge me or telling me I am wrong, if I want to discuss things with them, I will. If not, I don't want anyone interfering, I prefer they never know that things, and let me make my own decision and have my own ideas. That's why I don't want everyone know my real face here.

aaa that is frustrating!! i just wrote a half page comment, and it didn't uploaded!!!
why do you care what other people think any way?! every one is entitled for their own opinion. people don't always agree with your opinion , that is natural!!!
people can talk what they want, you decide eventualy what you do!! (unless you are under 18 :-))
that is my opinion
hope you don't judge me :-)

Honesty, decency and boldness are gone forever.
In today's world almost everyone is a cunning fox.
It is narrow-mindedness, timidity, lack of self-confidence that prevents someone from posting a real photo in his social networking profiles. I do not take seriously writings of such people.
MyLot should start profile photo verification process like Socints.com.

In my case the profile picture is my own. Other members may have their own reasons for not doing so. In my case I feel it is alright to put up my profile picture instead of any other picture. The only time I put up a picture other than myself was that of nature...I would never think of putting up someone elses pic other than avatars...All the best and happy mylotting

I have to be honest here, there is so many bad people out there that I don't want my own photo publicized. So to answer your discussion, I think a person who gives their honest post and don't show a picture of their true identity is dishonest. I don't judge at the photo they have put up, but some are humourous I may say. I feel that it shows their personality more than anything.

I agree with you about protecting yourself from "crazies"... Thankfully, I don't look like this on a daily basis... I'm usually Clark Kent hehe

I am doing that as well especially in other forums but not to fake anyone or believe them that it was me. It is actually an icon that you want to show it to other people that you admire this celebrity or you have met this celebrity you admire in person already. I don't think there is something wrong about it, if ever there are other people who will thought that it was you on the avatar of course I am honest enough to tell the truth that it was not me it is the person that I like or admire. For example in yahoo messenger my previous boss thought that it was my boyfriend on my avatar, he even told me that my boyfriend is handsome I actually laughed on it and corrected him right away that it was not my boyfriend but a housemate that I am rooting for to become a big winner.

Hm...I am not sure the avatar represents part of you and that putting anything in your avatar picture is 'Faking it'. I am using a cartoon made by a friend of mine, and I don't really know how that relates to Faking. I use it because I like it and also I appreciate the talent of the person who made it. In the same way, any member can use anything of their own choice as their avatar. There is nothing that says you can use your picture only.
BTW, is that really you in your avatar picture?

An avatar shall not represent the member and one need not come to any conclusions from the photos we use here. Even your photo doesn't reveal you. The goggles are huge to fake your identity!
Well, I don't see avatars before posting my response. Just the post must demand my response and I see the character of the post, thus. And I won't post my photo anywhere in the net due to privacy reasons.

I know what you are thinking . I saw the same things on mylot. But as about me, i`m having all my pictures from my profile are real, updated each time i`m making new pictures. Some of the people hhere on mylot are adding pictures with beautiful girls or boys because they want to make you visit more his/her profile because they have banners with sites that they are earning money and they want more refferals, or maybe they want to be anonim.

its up to you or to other members if they want to post their own picture or not. if you thin your confident enough then you can post yours. if someone didnt post their own picture its not because they are fake or hiding something, its just because they are not that confident to show the world their faces. besides in mylot theres a time that we post too personal problem here and we dont want anyone to personally know us, just like me before, i used to post personal problem and hide my identity as some of my friends are in mylot, i dont want them to know my deepest secret and tell that to other people about whats going on to me so i tend to hide it. theres a problem that we cant tell to those people around us but telling that here in mylot will help ease the burden. if i show my picture now in my profile then its because of my baby, as im proud to have her inspite of all problems im facing right now.

I don't really mind which photos people post here. I tend to get an image of a person from how they join in with Mylot discussions and what they say. I have a true photo of me up here, but I know others put cartoons or photos of famous people. I guess I would prefer to see what someone really looks like, but it's not too important to me.

Hi Incus!
I guess, like in real life, some people feel more comfortable speaking their minds when they wear a mask. I don't have a problem with someone using someone elses face as their "avatar" as long as they don't say that it is their own if confronted.
I don't mind showing my true face to the online public. I am here (on MyLot) to speak my mind... and I don't mind people looking me in the eye as I do it... but, this is a personal choice.
Good post!

Well I don't have my photo yet... but im willing to post my own photo... on second thought maybe I shouldn't... the reason for me not posting is because a lot of people here does not use their own photos... so whats the use of your photos if half or even more of the population here in my lot uses borrowed photos...
