Both of my children are responsible for brushing their own teeth. They are seven and three years old. After they have brushed their teeth, either my husband or myself will check to make sure that they have adequately brushed their teeth. I think that by having the children do this themselves and then checking to make sure that they've done it correctly will ensure that they will have better dental hygiene for themselves when they are older.

my 6 yr old always wants to brush her teeth alone. I let her do it mornings but i do after her in the evenings. That is also what her dentist adviced... for parents to do a rebrushing for kids till they are 9 yr old.

Hi, durgabala. My son and daughter brush their own teeth. My son is 8 and my daughter is 4. My youngest daughter is, 3. I will have to brush my youngest daughter's teeth for her myself. I will put the toothpaste on my son and daughter's toothbrush. And on my youngest daughter's toothbrush. You are so lucky. I would never allow my mother-in-law to help me get my kids ready in the mornings. She is usually asleep when my son gets up in the mornings for school anyway.

Your kid's teeth has to be brushed by you mom.
Just make sure you press the gums too. This will help the blood circulation and the teeth won't protrude out.

When my son was very small I usually helped him brush his teeth. Sometimes my husband would do it too, especially before he went to bed. I was in charge of my son during the day and my husband usually took charge of changing diapers, giving him his bath, brushing his teeth and reading him stories before he went to bed. He was working all day and wanted to spend as much time with him as possible at night.
I think it's great for the child and the parents when both parents take turns taking care of the children. It's good for the child too!!! It also relieves some stress on the parent who takes care of them during the day to have someone else take over in the evening.

Of course but depending on husbands is not "depending on others", my husband enjoys this task and he brushes more well than me..........
