HAHAHA! Yes, you read it right, I am sick of my homegrown strawberries. I've made about 30 pints total of Strawberry Jam already this year and theres yet more strawberries. Now this photo shows a small area of my rasberry bushes. There's going to be quite a lot of poundage from these as well this year. So I guess I'll try my hand at making rasberry jam or marmalade as well. Anyone have a good recipoe for Rasberry Jam/jelly/marmalade etc? Please share. Some of my neighbors are calling me "The Jelly Man" this year. Once I was affecionately know as "Mr. Pickle" HAHAHA! All from my canning etc.

hi Grandpa Bob why hey gotta idea just send a few boxes of those nice ripe yummy strawberries through our monitors, and I will know what to
do with them.he he. red juice dripping down my chin. Could you freeze some for u se later on ? Strawberries can be frozen if you do it right.Too bad I don't live down the street as I would come by and
'buy some delicious vine ripe strawberries. lol. My mom used to
mix strawberries with rhubarb and it was so good in a pie. I know some people do not like rhubarb but I really like it mised with sweeter'fruits..+

hey ..I have heard a person saying this about strawberries for the first time...
I love strawberries..and would love to grow it nearby..but we don't have those required temperatures here...so that's not possible..
but ..I really wish if there could have been a technology through which you could send it through our monitors..it would have been so great na..
and I also wish...that if I lived by your place.....and we would be friends then I could get to eat as many strawberries as i wish...because you are already sick of them...
ya..I would go by that idea of freezing the strawberries ...and then later on you could use them. but i guess you would be having so many of them that there won't be enough space for you to store them even...ha ha..

WOW! Lots of berries everywhere! I love that and I also wish to have my own yard for berries one day. I really don't like jams, I love eating them plain or with a small amount of cream. Hope you could find some recipe for those berries aside from jam. :)

I usually play by ear as jams and jellies go, but that doesn´t happen with strawberries and raspberries as they have too much water and too little pectin. The best I have done is with a recipe from The Joy of Cooking. Tell me if you have that wonderful cookbook and I´ll tell you which recipe I´m talking about. If you don´t have the book, I´ll send it to you.
For me, the Joy of cooking is by far the best cookbook I´ve seen. And I have a bookshelf of cookbooks in 3 languages.

It's worked out great for me with strawberries.
I use 3 cups crushed berries with 5 cups sugar.
Then 1 cup water and one box pectin.
Thickens nicely for me.
It's a recipe fpor fgreezer jams, no cooking needed.
Send it to me please?

Hey Jelly Man! I wish we lived near you because we would gladly go strawberry picking to take them off your hands!! We can't get enough strawberries here - and I hear that freshly picked ones that have been sitting in the sun are the best!! Do you bake at all? Pies and muffins are great when it comes to berries (that's what we do with the excess in the fridge). I like crepes too with berry filling. I'm sorry I do not have any jelly recipes to share - I haven't ventured into canning yet. I am envious of all your berry plants!

HAHAHAHA!
Yes we bake as well.
Usually we bake things from our apple trees.
But frost killed off all the blossoms early this May.

Oh my Grandpa my children would go crazy to live in your place. They love strawberries and I have to buy those in the supermarkets as we cannot grow them. They are very costly here in the Philippines and every time they go with me to go shopping they would always go to the fruit section and look for strawberries. For cookies they like anything with strawbs, juice, jam name it.

Strawberries are also good in what they now call "smoothies". Blend with milk, ice and some sugar for a delicious drink. Although I prefer the frozen because the fresh have bits of hard stuff in them. I add pineapple, too.

Hey Grandpa Bob! I think that is wonderful! Just think that
you can give them away for Christmas Gifts and how happy people
will be to get "homemade jams and jellies"! I know I would be
thrilled! Since they have a long enough shelf life you can store
them and give them away this Winter! I know your neighbors and
friends will be so appreciative!

i wish i could see your garden with all berries, i just like to see it. we dont have that kind of weather and also the facility to grow strawberries here and i even dont know how do they grow either we need to sow the seeds or plant them ?
here in india we dont have strawberries in common and rarely found. but when i was residing in germany i really liked the strawberry fields and i like those small small plants and the red strawberries hanging in it. i have also tried making the strawberry jam and i wish i could have prepared it here too but i dont know will the jam stay for a longer time and not get spoiled if i prepare it with the normal sugar what i get it here.
my husband´s friend sometimes use to get different berries from his garden and also the marmalade which was so delicious and we really loved it and your discussion reminded me all this, thanks.

I am sorry to hear of your strawberry plight. I guess it is possible for us to have too much of a good thing. Give it some time and strawberries will be a joy in your life again.

Ohh I thought you were sick of your 'strawberries' when I read this then heheh, so many people love them, why don't you sell them to people cheaply, or if you are desperate to get rid of them why not for free to your friends and family:D

do you run a farm or something? sounds like you could make a pretty penny selling your jams at a local farmers market of some sorts! I would love to try homemade jelly, the stuff in stores is alright but I don't like the idea of all the stuff they add to it to enhance the flavor =[
