Anchovies on Pizza

I have never had anchovies on pizza before. I don't even have the slightest desire to try it. I don't even like the sound of the name "anchovies". Some people love anchovies on their pizza. I wonder why though. Maybe because they are supposedly salty. Have you ever had anchovies on your pizza?

I have had anchovies on pizza, although I am not too picky about food, I do not order my pizza with anchovies on it, in fact I don't order much pizza. I would rather build my own at home. Anchovies are very salty, in fact super salty. If you have ever had a genuine Caesar salad, there should be anchovies in the salad. Ever use Caeasr salad dressing? Check the ingredients and you will see anchovy paste is one of them. It is low on the list but it is in there. That is as far as I go if I want anchovies. Now I'm ready for a can of sardines in mustard sauce !! Yummmmmmmmm !!

So what do the anchovies taste like besides being salty? I would think they would be slimy. I have had Caesar salad and I do like the dressing. I did know they use anchovy paste but try not to think about that.

I haven't tried one. And like you, I also dont have any desire to try it. I really dont feel the urge to even taste it. I dont think there's a pizza parlor in my country that offers anchovies as a topping so maybe the reason why is that not many people love it as well.

I have never had anchovies on a pizza and I don't intend to. I have never eaten anchovies. They just sound gross to me.

I'm with you on that one. I have no intentions on trying them either.

I don't like anchovies so i wouldn't mess up a good pizza w/them.

I agree with you. Why mess with perfection?

I felt that way too, but I don't mind them in ceasar dressing or marinara. I have never had a desire to eat sardines either but I recently had some fried (much larger than the tinned variety) and they weren't bad.

I never heard of fried sardines. Maybe I could tolerate them like that. Seems everything can get fried these days.

They are about six or seven inches long. Bigger than the tinned ones but still small and a lot of bones to deal with. Still, the taste wasn't bad.

No I haven't tasted it yet but many say it's good. Maybe it was the way the anchovies were cooked and or baked. Haha

Since you know some people that like them then maybe one day you will try them. Let us know if you do.

They are pretty salty, and I can only eat them when I am in the mood for them.

Hi Shar. Nope, I have to say that I have never had anchovies on my pizza. Like you, I have no desire to try it. I'd rather have "normal" toppings on my pizza any day, then have anchovies on it. I love pizza, but adding a topping such as that is only going to ruin it for me. LOL Happy mylotting!
