This flu has hit me hard this winter and I just can not seem to shake this. I have tried the lemon and honey drinks, and they are good, but now its gone to my chest and I can not stop coughing. There is only so much cold and flu medication you can take and half of it does not work. I need some good old fashioned remedies please.

Poor you, there is nothing worse and you have my complete and utter sympathy!!
It sounds like you really might need some anti-biotics if your chest has been infected.
One of our favourite remedies for colds and flus is to put Vicks (the vapour rub type) in a bowl ow boiling water and add some chopped fresh ginger, put our head over, drape a towel over the top of both head and bowl and take in some good deep breaths for about 5 - 10 minutes, it certainly clears the head.
On a more pleasant note, a tot of whisky added to the honey and lemon drink works wonders too!!
Hope that you feel better soon

I heard the vicks is good and you rub it on the balls of your feet as well and put socks on, and also rub it on your chest. The tot of whiskey sounds good as well with lemon and honey. Is that what they call a hot toddy. One of the doctors I work with told me to go home and have a hot toddy and I assumed thats what she meant, whiskey and honey and lemon.

Its better you get checked by a doctor. Self medicating is not the right solution.
