I just recently started a facebook account and was amazed at the people on this site. I haven't befriended any but there were people on there that I haven't seen since I was a child! I couldn't believe it. I was browsing through some profiles and there are people on there with over 1000 friends!!! WOW! I have got a couple of friend requests that have been from people that I have no clue based on a like or dislike that I have. Now I'm curious about your friends. Do you have a lot?

I have visited facebook once a day since I signed up but I agree that myLot is better for me too. I'm learning about facebook right now but I wasn't a fan of myspace so I don't know how long facebook will interest me either. Thanks for the response.

Hiya Jen. Yep, I'm on facebook. Been on there for a few years now actually. LOL I don't even remember why I joined. Heck, I even kind of forgot about it in the beginning until someone, who I thought was a family member, requested my friendship a few months later. After that I started exploring the site a bit more and found a few old friends, neighbors, classmates, and even some family on there. I made sure to add them to my friends list. I wouldn't say that I have a lot though. Certainly not as many as that! LOL Mine's a wee bit less at just over 50 friends and counting. Happy mylotting!

Heyya sacmom! How have you been? Yes...I am just learning the ropes and I don't have near that many friends even. I think I am going to enjoy this site. I didn't like myspace at all and it didn't take me long to realize that. I haven't played games yet but they have been tempting me so hmmmmmm. Thanks for responding and take care.

LOL! Agreed Sacmom (good to see you're still around). I find that if I let the games go for more then a few days I'm ambushed with a good hundred gifts lol. So, I set aside about an hour to play and collect gifts. I did recently get rid of a few games though because I just didn't have the time!

I like myLot better too Jo. I have one experience with a friend like that. He requested and he had a lot of people on his friend list that I knew from work so I accepted him. I haven't seen him post anything. I might even delete him..lol. I haven't been a member long so I am still learning how it all works. Thanks for the response.

Yes I am and I enjoy w/ it all the time as every now and then if I have time I will open. I have many friends even don't know who are they and from where they are. I will check their profiles when I like them to add I will do so. First check their profiles then after having the checking that's the time to finality add or not. I am glad sometimes to their messages and photos uploaded and send also good messages to others too. It is fun and have more friends through this web.

I have a little over 100 friends on Facebook. At first, I wasn't interested in social networking. So my niece, who's an etertainment writer, got me on MySpace. I didn't get involved until my ex supervisor found me. The same thing happened on Facebook. Being on those sites got me interested in finding friends I hadn't seen since grade school, friends I've worked with, kids I knew from the 'hood', teachers and others. It makes me feel good when a person joins Facebook and I'm the first one they "Friend." Most of my friends are relatives. I have some ex high school mates and work mates from around the world. And I get a lot of writers who've been published in the same publications I have. One woman (as does my aunt who keeps bugging me about it) has me interested in writing romance stories. So if we look hard enough, there is always something of interest there.

I can see where these sites can open up a world of chances for people. I am a writer too and I also do oil painting. My b/f has a page on there for his music so maybe I can have a page for my stuff too once I get the hang of things. I didn't like myspace but I'm kind of liking facebook. There is more of a mature member count than on myspace I think. Thanks for the response and take care.

I was wondering about how that worked. People and things change so much after highschool that is...well...odd. There are people on there that I see are friends with one another that I remember having nothing to do with one another in highschool.

A few hundred, a few I'm not really sure where they came from and we never interact and I suppose it's time to clean up. There are a bunch of requests sitting out there that I never responded to. I started getting picky after the guy who "just had to have me in his life" after we'd been chatting for like 30 seconds...

Uhhh...I see what you mean. That could call for picky. I don't usually accept unless I know who they are. There is a lot of personal info on those pages and the internet can open up the world to the crazies.

Jen- Feel free to add me on Facebook, you'll find me under Anora Eldorath. I have been so busy wrapping up my last term, and as I already spoke about that on my own thread, I won't take up yours with it. On the subject of friends on Facebook though, I can relate. I have just over 400 friends, but only one of them is from Mylot. Perhaps because not very many from here sought me out during my absence. Most of those 400 though are gamers. I play several of the games on Facebook, Viking Clan being my top, and I've ended up with tons of friends from Norway as a result. It's a great way to meet people, and with them I can practice my Norwegian that my husband is teaching me. He has a much better tongue for language acquisition. I also run my pagan advise column off of there so I spend a great deal of time checking in, and networking. I do believe Facebook though has a cap of 5000 friends, or so I heard from a gamer who was griping about it. My goal would be to have just 1000 followers of my advise column. I've actually only one childhood friend on my list to be honest. She was my tutor in highschool and when I found her I was elated! I don't speak with those I went to highschool save her, and I'm very happy with that. I moved around a great deal as a child-so I never formed lasting relationships. The rest of my friends are pagan friends, author friends, etc. I've been very blessed to have some of the friends I do in that circle. I do hope all is well with you, and it shall be good to catch up with you! Namaste-Anora

Hi Anora! I bet the games really do get you a lot of friend requests. I haven't tried any of them yet but I have a feeling that I will soon fall into them...lol..I love games. All is pretty good with me..I'm just finishing up the last weekend of my two week vacation and preparing to get back to the grind Monday..lol...a bit to soon but what do you do? Thanks for the response.

I have been on Facebook for about two and a half years now and although I do not spend much time there, I do go on there most days just for a little bit. I like to use the site for marketing and for keeping in touch with old friends. My wife though uses it more as a means to keep in contact with friends that she sees often as well. I have 247 friends on there at this point in time and a lot of them I have never met in real life. I get a lot of people that are interested in Raw Foods adding me as a friend as they search interests or they see that I run the Raw Food group on there that they may have just joined. I have a group that has 289 members in it. It works well as a great little mailing list. Feel free to add me as a friend there if you wish, others from here have made friends with me there as well. My profile page is: http://www.facebook.com/RawBill

Thank you so much for the personal invite. I can see how facebook has wonderful potential for those that have an online business...or any business for that matter. My b/f is a musician and he has a few music pages on facebook. That is really the reason why I joined in the first place. I have been thinking of having my own page of something..lol..Thanks for the response.

Hi Jeni!. I am using a facebook because all my friend have an account so I decide to made one. To be honest I don't approve others that I don't know or personally meet in real life. So my friend is about 150 person only. My sister said I am too picky in adding a friend in my account. One of my cousin have a friend more than 5000 people who is doesn't know mostly he will accept all friend request and requesting a friendship from people he does not know.

I'm a little wary of accepting people that I don't know either. There is a lot of personal information about us on there and I guess you can never be to careful. I don't have that many friends on there at all but I love them all..lol...I have seen people on there with over 1000 friends. I think it's more because of the different games they play though. Thanks for responding.

I am face book member for over 3 years and I have almost like 400 friends. These are not strangers at all. I know each and every one of them in some form or another. I get many requests for friend approval daily from people I have never met. I also get many of my own friends send me suggested friends of people I don't know or know anything about them. I will let the request sit to see if I can figure out who this person is or why the friendship is being requested. If still no relation of any kind I will delete. The way I treat Face book is that it is not a competition for me and I do not chose to add friends just for numbers. I do not care about the nonsense comments when I have never met them. Especially since the friends I do know really do not contribute much and or make sense out of the discussions. myLot for instance is different, I came here with absolutely no friends on board. It took me two days to finally respond to any form of discussions. Thereafter the friend request start pouring in. I have no ides how many friends I have established here in a month, although I suppose I could check my profile. It just isn't important to me. What is important is that I engage daily on interesting discussions and have received a lot of valid responses. Whereas face book you really do not get that.

It is really amazing knowing someone is trying to add you as friend and I am trying to remmember where did I meet him/her. Until he/she give me details. LOL. Hi there. Foremost and to be honest, I never had any interest in creating an account with either Friendster or Facebook or even Myspace. No offense meant okay. But I do know a lot of people who have accounts with them. They even urged me to create mine so we could check on one another's gigs or schedules. I must admit that Facebook seems interesting, as I have observed the users got so addicted especially to Farmville... that they would even sacrifice a few bucks in internet cafes just to be able to "harvest" their plants. But just recently, I heard from a Farmville addict that they are planning to launch another site which will topple over Farmville. I'm really not sure who are the parties behind this scheme, the ones who are interested in a considerable share of internet traffic. Anyway, God bless and regards.

No offense taken my friend. I was the same way. I signed up because my b/f created a music page on there and I wanted to support him. Now I have a few friends and like going on to comment on their pages. I haven't played any of the games yet. I like games to much to chance it just yet with the class I'm starting Monday night...lol. I didn't like myspace at all but I have been enjoying facebook. Thanks for the response.

I have some friends that have over 1000 friends too. That's because they befriend everyone and anyone that they ever went to school with. Facebook is great to keep tag of family, friends, and particularly old schoolmates that you thought you would never see again. It's amazing how fast people start chiming in, and what they will tell about themselves to basically everyone. You will get "friend" invitations from a lot of strangers, but if you are not selective, you may fing yourself prety soon in rather "strange" company. You may not mind, if you are just a collector, though.
