I have not attended that event cause I'm like socially ill back then. I was so insecure bout how i look and had really low self-esteem compared now. How about you guys? What keeps you from joining the prom?

I wish I hadn't attended my senior prom. It was one of the worst nights of my life LOL

Well let's see...I found out what a total b!tch my ex-girlfriend really was. I got into a fight, and my tuxedo was basically destroyed. The fight was because her cousin's prom date was treating her cousin badly, so I beat the crap out of him. Later that night, I got into an argument with my ex-girlfriend (AFTER I got into a fight over HER cousin), so I ended up taking her home and spending the night at a friends house instead of spending it with my ex-girlfriend as we had originally planned to do. The hangover the next morning was a bad one as well LOL

i did go for junior prom but not with senior prom coz i study in all girls school and we are not allowed to bring guys during seniors so i was thinking it was a little bit of boring and i guess a lot of us didnt go also, our administrator was very strict that time.

I never really went. There were a number of reasons why I did not really decide to go. For one thing, school functions were something that never really appealed to me across the board to begin with. My reasoning was that I spent enough time there during the week. Why do I need to devote any more time to school? They are the authority there still and no matter how much fun I might have, I still can't shake the fact that I'm devoting more time. In fact, the only school function that I went to during four years of High School was my graduation.
Plus, I believe I had some kind of scheduling conflict, so even if I wanted to go, I would not want to go. Still prom is overblown. You might have fun for one night. Then the next day, you get the bill and the horror that you spent a lot of money on one night. So yeah, its just something that I never really got but I guess if you had fun, then by all means, its for you.

I never went to either prom. I was quite shy, but I remember for sure the senior prom was spent with close friends that were Christians at a retreat. It was far more worth it for me to go to that (which went below the surface and dealt with important issues in life) than go to an expensive and showy prom (which tends to be an above the surface activity) with a lot of people I wasn't even close to. There seems to be a lot of pressure in high school to be part of "the in crowd," and I couldn't stand that. It's much better if you have a strong sense of self. You can go to prom if you want to, but it doesn't determine who you are. Sometimes it can be just a "surface" event, rather than something that feeds your spirit and helps you become stronger inside.

I went to my senior prom for about an hour. I didnt have a date. My best friend and I got all dressed up, went to eat, made an appearance at prom, went back to my house and watched movies and ate ice cream/pizza all night! Prom sucked. Time with best friend = awesome!

well, im not that confident back then also but it did not stop me to enjoy a part of my life. I did come to my junior prom night though I missed the the senior night in fourth year. It was my choice, simply because I'm not really into partying. I just want to know the experience. And most of my friends don't like to come either. But no regrets to all of it

I didnt seem the point in going to mine, most of my friend were not going and i didnt really like that many people at my school, why spend £50 on a night where i hate the company and would have been bored out of my mind, instead me and all my friends travelled to blackppol and just sat on the beach burning all our school equipment. fun times.
