The mercury is rising steadily. It is supposed to get up to 94 degrees Fahrenheit today (34.4 C). I hate having to run the air conditioner because of the cost, but what can one do in this weather. Yesterday it was 92 F. The heat wave continues all week long. According to the weather report on Friday we will begin to have cooler weather, down to 83 degrees Fahrenheit. My weeds cannot wait until Friday so I will have to be out in the heat today to weed my garden. I water my plants at night after the sun goes down so they will not get scorched by the hot sun.
What's the weather like where you are? What will you do to keep yourself comfortable?

I stay in Mumbai in Maharashtra. here it is raining very heavily. The whether is so beautiful. I also go out sometimes to get wet in the rain. It is so beautiful and wonderful weather. The climate is very cool here right now. There was no sun light for few days now. So the temperature is average. Where do you stay? and when do you receive rains. Truly we are enjoying this time of the year right now. I am not letting go any opportunity of having fun in the rain. Hope your climate changes soon and you too become as lucky as we are here. Pray to God. Everything will be fine.

That is very nice that you have such good weather. At least it is cool enough where you are to enjoy it. I live in the US, in the state of MI.
This is one of the hottest summers I can remember. Fortunately we do not get weather like this often, but when we do it is miserable. The last 2 summers were cooler than usual and it was very nice, so having a hot summer was expected. I did think it would be a very warm one since we got very lucky with 2 cooler summers in a row!
Enjoy your weather and have fun! It is great to play in the rain. We have a small chance of rain on Thursday and again on Friday, I hope that it is enough rain to cool off. You are very blessed to live in such a climate that is so comfortable.

I live in Illinois near Chicago. I do not use my air because I heat my house wth electric and I am still paying off the winter heating bills. They are threatening my with cut off.. hah I have fans everywhere aimed right at me, I shower a couple of time s a day and sit in front of fan to cool off. You can put cold water or ice cubes on your wrists. you can even put hot water bottle with cold water in your bed or under your feet while watching tv. drink a lot of water . Eat spicy food. It makes you sweat and that keeps you cool. As you do go outside at dusk if you can stand the misquitoes and do your yard work. The less we use our electric the better for the environment. But I do have to heat in the winter but I keep it very cool good luck with the rest of the summer heat

Chicago is also getting these high temperatures, or no? I'm in Michigan and not very far from you weatherwise.
I have found the fans use up almost as much electricity as the window air conditioner, so I use the air on days like this. I do not like to use it much, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Goodness, you poor thing with such high electricity bills. I hope someday very soon you can switch out your furnace. The best heat is the water. It is economical and because of the type of heat, will heat the objects in the room, not the air. So it will feel warmer longer and any drafts you may have through doors or windows will not be such a big deal as it would with forced air.
I feel rather weird talking about furnaces at this time of year, sitting here in my un-air conditioned room (have it on downstairs and will not run two at once)sweating so badly like I just came out of the tub.
Stay cool!

It's a 105 here in Vegas and my air conditioner never shuts off.
I love summer time though so I don't complain. I work inside and the little time I actually am outside doesn't bother me. The worst part like you say is my power bill/
We have 2 pools were I live so i can cool of after work.

Today it was hotter than it had been all week. Here in Southern VA... we had a fairly nice week... cool... almost kind of like Fall were coming. Then right back to the heat right before the holiday!! sheesh I hate to say it.. but I will be glad to feel the cool breeze again...

I wonder if this is due to that Hurricane storm. I thought something like that would cool us off rather than raise the barometer. Last week was cool, the nights have been in the 60's up until the heat wave, sometimes even in the 50's and that is just perfect sleeping weather.
The heatwave has reached as far as VA? Wow. Keep cool!

I wish I could stay inside! Eeeeks it is going to be another hot one, but we are supposed to get rain. Only a 30% chance of rain though, so we shall see. I hope the clouds do not tease us and roll on in then out without spilling their sweet nectar.
I left my downstairs air conditioner on, set it at 80F overnight but you know the darned thing did end up kicking on. Not happy about that; I did not want it on at night at all. I will have to just turn it off every night then if it is going to do that.

O, my goodness! That is much more terrible than being a little uncomfortable with high temperatures. My prayers and hopes go out to the survivors and families and friends of those who lost their lives in this terrible storm.
Lord, have mercy.
Do you live close to where the typhoon hit?

94 degrees F (34.4 C). Oh! It is cold for us. This summer we passed through temperatures of 43 to 45 C. Nights used to be around 34 C. How do you like that?
Well. We had to bleed our pockets for electricity using ACs. How else can one live in such heat. Imagine the hot blast of air on the roads while traveling. We passed through terrible time until the rains started about 3 weeks ago. A friend of mine had guests visiting during this hot period. And it was a sight to see him struggling to keep cool in front of a cooler (fan driving through wet screens) always gasping. My friend did not have AC in the large sitting room.

That is 113 degrees Fahrenheit! I had to look it up on the conversion charts so I can understand the temperature. I guess we are having a cold spell compared to you!
Ugh, that is so very hot. Aren't these electricity bills just awful?
