Beat the Heat

This morning when I woke up, here in southern VA, it was 101 degrees. I almost died when I went outside, not to mention the fact I have leather seats. I treated myself to an Oreo McFlurry today and that cooled me down considerably. Me and my friends had a water balloon/water gun fight a few weeks ago and that was pretty fun. We even kept playing after it started warm summer raining. We are planning a nice day trip to the pool soon. How do you beat the heat in your area?

The weather here in NC has been awful and will be even worse through the weekend. With temperatures around 99/100 and heat indexes around 105/110, it is too hot to do anything outside. I have been staying inside where it is airconditioned, or running out to the car and starting the AC on full-blast. I am having a little trouble keeping my house cool enough (it is brick and absorbs heat from the sun, but I leave the drapes and blinds closed during the day and run a couple of small fans to help circulate the air. I also avoid using the oven and the clothes dryer, unless absolutely necessary.

I can imagine. I am sitting outside as I currently type my response sweating furiously. I am smoking a cig... but I don't smoke in my house. It isn't too much cooler inside with the sweltering heat outside and I, too, run oscillating fans in every bedroom to keep the rooms cool. And you're right even with blinds and draperies closed, it still seems just HOT! Thanks for commenting!!
