I am surprised at how useful Twitter is!

Ok, so I can't really confirm that using Twitter has created more page views because I do not know how to create a unique url to track where my traffic is coming from, but it seems to be helping and scheduling my tweets with socialoomph definitely saves me time. I can set up tweets for a day a week or even a month and then forget about it for a while unless there is something new I want to add.
I don't have that many followers yet but I did figure out how to use # and I RT stuff I find interesting or useful quite often. I notice that some people seem to tweet almost every hour and even more than that. I think it would take me an entire day even to schedule that many tweets!
Some people seem to use it only for social purposes. I don't get tweets on my phone. That would make me crazy, especially when it's just someone sharing a random thought or saying they are going grocery shopping.
Do you use Twitter? How many tweets do you post per day?

Hi Canellita,
I do have an account at Twitter but I have hardly used it. To go one step ahead I must confessed that I do not know exactly how to use Twitter. I had mails before notifying that one or the other is following me but I never responded.
I would be glad if you elaborate as to how to use this site.

For you Rajib, it might be handy to send tweets to your students. You could send updates or information on upcoming lectures and even notes of encouragement. You could also use it to tweet the urls to your writing on the internet.
Twitter can be time consuming so I use social oomph (use one word and add .com) and schedule my tweets ahead. This way I can also schedule some to repeat and to update while I am sleeping so people on the other side of the world will see them.

that is a great idea indeed. This would surely help me keeping in touch with my students. Thanks a lot for the guidance.

Yes, that's so true.. Twitter definitely has its own advantages for users, especially those whom have their own websites or writing sites to share links and whatnot. I use it for personal usage, and more towards tweeting about things I feel and think.. more like a mini blog. Since it's called micro-blogging anyway.. . It's addictive, isn't it.. even if you don't use it for personal usage..
I used to update blog posts before and promote them on my Twitter link, and there are a couple of traffic which came from Twitter, so I think you might be right about this one after all..

Hi Zed! Send me you twitter ID and I'll follow you! I don't know if I find it addicting but I am starting to read more and more of the tweets of others. I am going to start creating lists to sort out the ones I really want to keep up with and the ones that are just mildly interesting.
What do you mean by "a no-follow.."?

HEHEHE. Should I answer this post? You probably have guessed I don't tweet, unless I am outside birdwatching. LOL I have heard many people say they use twitter, but honestly I cannot imagine adding ONE MORE THING. I couldn't imagine sitting around tweeting everytime something happened in my life. Kids outside, kids inside, child whining, child crying, going to bathroom, kids driving me crazy, chasing kids around kitchen. LOL Yeah, just cannot do it. LOL

I am experimenting with tweeting the URLs for AC content. I usually only add Helium stuff but AC is where I need to increase the views. I am also experimenting with some marketing. I don't have that many followers yet, though.

I have found it useful to that end as well. A writer friend often publishes opportunities for writers and I get tweets about local job openings and other info I am able to tell friends about.
It's great for all that, just very time consuming, lol!

Yes, it is good for all of those things. I don't receive tweets on my phone but I know many people do so it is a good way to send out last minute information about events and business specials and so forth.

Well I tweet quite often!
About 30 tweets a day. Or Less.
I hashtag (#) when I am in a conversation and I RT interesting stuff to my followers.
I have also connected my account with Facebook so every singal tweet or RT got posted right the time I tweet it in the FB.

I don't use it to chat, only for sharing information. I don't want all my tweets on my wall on FB either. Some things I post at one I don't want at the other, but I have a FB fan page and I have it set so that every time I post there it tweets.

Well, young and single doesn't really have anything to do with it. There are people who are social tweeters but the people I am following are writers, people who share inspirational quotes, local agencies and businesses.
It's about disseminating information even though there are plenty of kids who tweet to their friends what they are doing and I've heard celebrities do that as well. I use it to promote my writing and I retweet my friends for the same reason.

Well Yugasini, you can share information you find useful or maybe a quote that you read or heard. For instance this morning someone shared a quote from Mark Twain that I liked very much. I retweeted it to my followers and then copied the text and shared it on facebook.
Sometimes people tweet positive messages. Sometimes people tweet weightloss information or links to guides on how to do things. Someone decided to follow me and when I looked at the profile the person had tweeted something about BMW parts. I have an old one and am always looking for parts so I am now following this person as well.
When you tweet something you should put keywords behind the message, known as an update. For instance if I were to tweet about you I would follow it with #yugasini #myLot #friend.
Other people who use those same keywords would likely decide to follow my tweets to stay informed.
