I told my friend I wanted a window seat and she asked why I should get one on a night flight. I got to see the Rocky Mountains as we flew over them before it got dark. I sat in a window seat, my baby daughter had a middle seat and my disabled toddler son had an aisle seat. The formation of seats on the plane was 3 seats on either side of the plane and four seats in the middle. I would hate to have a place on one of the four seats in the middle. To be happy on a plane I have to have a window seat. For sightseeing reasons on take off and landing I prefer to be away from the wing.
Which seat do you like on a plane window, middle or aisle?
abc defg hij
a and j are the window seats
c and h are the aisle seats
defg are the middle seats

I always like to get a window seat if I can as I love to sightsee out of the plane. I just returned from a trip to Norfolk Island. The plane was a lot smaller than yours, just 3 seats on either side of a middle aisle. A,B,C,D,E,F.
I had the D seat for the trip over there which was an aisle seat. I could only catch glimpses of the coast as we left the mainland and the island as we landed. I had the F window seat for the return journey though so I got to see the island as we left and the mainland as we returned but most of the trip was pretty boring as it was all clouds and water.
I would have rather had the window for the trip over as the weather was better that day and the plane circled Brisbane after take off and then circled Norfolk Island before landing. It was a much better trip than the one home where I had the window.

Hi Raw Bill. It was a shame you got an isle seat going out because of the glimpses of the coast. You got a window seat coming back but with poorer weather it wasn't as good at the outward flight. Wow! I would love to visit Norfolk Island. I have also heard about Lord Howe Island and that must be another beautiful destination.

Norfolk Island was incredible. Not your average tropical island in appearance, but the rugged beauty and amazing history is everywhere. Lord Howe Island is one that I would like to visit too. It is more of a tropical island in appearance, even though it is further south than Norfolk.

hi maximax,
mostly when i travel either on the bus or train ,i prefer window seat except in winter season,in winter it is difficult to travel in window seat, because the windows doors or not intact,so they may not cover the entire space due to that air will flow in to the bus and disturb our sleep with cold weather, have a nice day

Hi Yugasini. I know in winter it must be a shame to have windows that are left open on trains and buses. I can imagine how miserable that must be. On planes the windows are small but I still manage to enjoy the views. On a plane they have air conditioning. Have a lovely day.

Well, normally I would prefer the window seat. But the last time I flew, I was with my sister. And the row of seats each fit three people. So there was me, my sister, and some guy we didn't know. He took the window seat, so I made her sit by him, so I could have the aisle seat. I may not have wanted to sit next to that guy, but my sister got the last laugh. It was a 15 hour flight, and every time that stupid cart would go down the aisle, it would either hit my elbow, or legs.

maximax8,
When I travel on holidays, I would always request for the exit row seats where there's an ample front leg room for comfort and free mobility.
However, these seats will not be granted to children or elderly passengers due to safety considerations during emergencies. In some airlines, they would even ask passengers with these seats to be aware of their responsibilities to help out in emergencies.

Hi Sky Success. I once got on a budget flight and it was worrying how little space there was in the emergency exit row. One time flying from London to Hong Kong on a night flight I got given that row. There was loads of legroom but there wasn't a window.

I like a window seat too especially when going to a place where I have not been before! Sometimes though I do choose the aisle if I am travelling as a pair and don't want to get stuck next to somebody who has an aisle seat and then goes to sleep so I cannot get up to walk about!! lol

I prefer seats near the window...:D If I get bored, I just look outside the window and look at the clouds or the mountains below. I tried seating at the middle, I got dizzy...haha..:D I can't sleep too...:D

Well, the only planes I've been on with that seat formation, have gone overseas, and, believe me, there is little to see on most of a trip like that...
I do, however, love to have a window seat normally, I like to daydream looking at the clouds, watch the houses and stuff as we come down, I remember flying into DFW at Christmas once and seeing all the beautifully decorated houses in the areas we flew over.
And when I get tired of looking out the window, I can always sew or read or sleep (not generally a lot of that unless I'm sick, like flying back from London in 2003.)

Hello maximax. I like to have the window seat as I can see more of the outside in the sky. On June 30th, I took a flight back to my hometown with a window seat. I was very lucky though the flight was an evening flight, still I could see the lights beneath our plane. When I take a train to travel, I like the window seat as well. It seems that window seats are my favorite. Have a good day.

I love the window seats. Mostly so I can see the view but also so I don't have to get up when others have to get up to use the rest room. I usually don't use the rest room when I'm on a flight so I don't have to be interruped when others need to get up. I sit back and relax watching the view, reading a book or taking a cat nap.

Hi Max,
I prefer to get the window seat too, whether I travel by plane or by any other means of transportation. When I travel with my 2 kids one of them always takes the window seat, and I don't mind coz I want them to see the sights that I would like to see myself.

I also love to seat beside the window especially during day flight but when I feel uncomfortable and I need to frequently go to the comfort room, I want to seat near the aisles. But what I hate most is the center seat, the d & e. There's no view or scenery outside the plane to watch and hard to get out when going to the CR. Sometimes, its hard for me to have a good view of the movie screen because of the head of some tall passengers...I also hate to seat on the tail part of the plane because of too much turbulence.

On some planes they have a small screen for every passenger on the seat in front. That is far better than having one screen per cabin. Every passenger can choose which movies or other material he or she will watch. It is a shame there isn't much space to get to the comfort room. Having got out from my seat I then see one of the cabin crew with a trolley.

I typically like window seats, though my preferences change depending on the flight. I generally have to head to the bathroom a couple times on flights over 3 hours, so I try to get an aisle seat for that. In case of a plane crash, you are also more likely to survive if sitting in an aisle seat (and near the back of the plane) so I always have that in mind too.

Sometimes there can be many people waiting to use the toilet. On the nine and a half hour flight I went to the toilet once. I found it too problematic to leave my children in their seats. I asked a member of the cabin crew and she kept an eye on them. You have excellent reasons for wanting an aisle seat near the back of the plane.

yea, I do that.. I always want to have the window seat when I go with plane. I feel stuck if I can not see to outside of the plane, although the night flight I always need a windows seat. One time I ever have a plane and didn't have a windows seat, and I saw the old women beside me feel like afraid when she saw to the outside, and in firs 3 hour she closed the window and it make me crazy. I told her, why don't we change the seat ? and you know.. she told me that from last 2 haour she want to tell me about it but she just afraid to talk to stanger like me... LOL

If it was that plane, definitely not defg because I usually travel with two other people, and sitting in those seats would mean there would be one person who could potentially be very annoying. Other than that, I would take b or i because they're in the middle of two other seats which I could possibly use to lean on or store things in. After flying so much, I don't particularly care for a window view anymore. If there is anything spectacular, I can always lean over the person closest to the window...

That'd be a widebody aircraft seat configuration..I'd prefer a window seat for takeoff and landing if possible,as I like to see the places I'm leaving behind and where I'm about to arrive from the air! do you use seatguru.com to check out the best places to sit on a particular aircraft when booking your flight online,or just ask the desk agent for a window seat when checking in?

Hi maxi! I prefer to have an aisle seat. I don't like to be closed
in! I like to be able to get out without having to ask someone to
move and I don't really care to be next to the window. I usually
do end up looking out event though I always say I won't because I
really don't like to fly. And the worse part is I always end up
on the wing no matter when I book my flight and that is the worst
place to sit especially for someone afraid of flying!

Hi Opal. It is a shame that you always seem to end up sitting by the wing. I must be scary to fly when you are afraid of flying. You are brave to fly given the fear you have of it. Yes, in economy class the seats are so close together that climbing past two people can be challenging.

I always like a window seat. However, I feel very sad when child wants to sit there. I can't even say 'no' to the child. However, I always prefer to sit on window seat.
