My family has 4 cell phones and 1 land line. My children-all adults- only use cell phones and don't use a land line.

Not only that but by using special features like calling people with the same brand for no charge and the ablity to use nation wide make cell phone a better deal. If you have ever been hit with extra charges for in room phone use you can appreciate the cell phone. It is a comfort to have my wife and children have the cell phone when traveling.

Well with the cost of long distance it is cheaper to have a cell phone.

I only have one and what's the point of having so many for anyways? I know a few people would have one for business, one for personal use, one for dates, etc... well, you get the pictue. But this is just more bill for you and more money out of your pocket.

I've got a treo 600, which is kind of like a 1960's cadillac for a smart phone pda. Old bulky but refuses to die.

Yup, definitely old, not too different in size really.
I didn't upgrade to the 650's as a lot of people in my neck of the planet were getting bad reception with them. I've been waiting for the 680's and 700's to show up on my carrier and maybe come down in price too.
What type of cellphones do you have BTW?

I do not own a cell phone, never have. My younger brother on the other hand, has gone through two. His first broke, when it got run over... and he bought his second shortly after. He's attatched to the thing, even when he's out of minutes it's still glued to his side. Obsessive? Perhaps he is. I wouldn't mind having a cell phone and being able to call some of my long distant friends. I used to "steal" his cell to call them when the free minutes kicked in. But since he doesn't get that plan anymore, I can't.
