Hi,
I wasn't not interested in learning about computers until 2005. Then I bought a computer. I first started playing games on it. Though I advertised a lot about my study being affected by not having a computer of my own, after it was bought, I spent most of the time watching movies and doing other entertainment stuffs. I was completely unaware of the fact that at the same time I was learning a lot about computers. I was becoming a computer savvy and that was what working in the background. This learning process surfaced when the first motherboard asked for a retirement. The processor was sending repeated signals that it was getting overheated. Then it stopped functioning completely. It is at this time that I realized that having a little bit of expertise in computing is really necessary. I started on my own. Now I write technical articles about things like ethical hacking, system programming, web etc. It was a long journey, but at least the fact that I can use my system efficiently, brings me a lot of relief.
Do you think it is necessary to learn computers in order to utilize all the benefits the computer can offer?
Thanks in advance for your response.
God bless you

uuummm, let me see.
Well, as they always say sweetie, never play with something you don't know anything about.
But, i don't listen to that.
You don't really need to learn computers, you just have to know where to turn it on and off, don't you?

Hi,
My father bought my first computer. He went to the shops and asked and took note. He came back home and studied little bit about gadgets, went through magazines and then came up with a configuration. Computer indeed, can give a lot of company. There are so many things to do, so many nooks to explore. It is almost like the box of a magician, you never know whats to come out next. Thanks so much for your response.

Dear friends, who all want to maintain your computer well then better clean your computer at least twice a weak with a clean piece of towel which is dry.
When you prevent dust from entering into the computer it helps to prolong the life of the computer.
Have a great day.

You have learnt so much about computers now it seems you are a professional and make a living out of the knowledge you have gained by using your computers and still you have to ask this question??????
You want more benefits learn more less knowledge will give you less benefits....

Hi,
Well I've learnt only a few things about computers. Probably it comprises only 10% of the whole. I still have so many things to learn. I sincerely wish to learn these things, but as there is practically no one helping me through this, its taking time. All my knowledge in computing is basically self-taught. Thanks for your participation.

Hi bis! I wish I knew more about computers! Unfortunately, I
don't! I have my "Computer Guy" for that although he has been
a bit of a pain lately trying to get hold of him. He even has
that software in my computer so he can "take it" whenever he
wants to! I think it's great that you were able to learn by
working on the computer and now can help others. Oh yeah, I
love your avy!

Hi Opal,
I think you should start learning a little bit. This computer guy of yours may soon be unavailable. What will you do then? The functions and programs are usually self explanatory. There are help files, user manuals etc. If you can quickly go through a few help files, you will feel confident about using these softwares. Soon you will acquire enough skills to independently fix your computer. Wouldn't that be great? Just ask me if you need any information. I will be more than happy to provide.
Thanks

Hi,
I also believe that the best way to learn computers is through using it. The more you use, the more you want to explore. Internet always comes forward to help. There is a free tutorial for everything, and they really help a lot. Thanks so much for your response.

Yep the internet is little like life and a never ending book you learn as you go and as you want to do new stuff with your computer you learn more.Like when I found out about youtube at first I just used it to watch some anime amv music video's but when I learned I could also use it to watch anime online well it became even more cool. You can also use the internet to find coupons to compare shop to get stuff cheaper and find cool money saving sites like the one I found that let me buy some show tickets on the trip I am taking on the 19 this month to branson,mo for 50% off and its so cool to get $60 tickets for $30 and it saved me almost $200.
Also I their are many sites wear you can download cool free programs that make your like better like Avast anti-virus program its better than some of the paid ones :)

I think for most people no, it's not necessary. But if you like to save yourself a few hundred dollars and utilize your knowledge of the computer to your advantage and keep it up and running and fix it when it breaks then yes I would say it was a necessary. I think you use your computer to the peak of it's abilities when you know what your doing.

That knowledge can be gained only through experimenting with your computer. You can't learn these things by reading tutorials alone. You need to have sufficient courage to undertake minor experiments on your system. Once you gain all the basic knowledge about how computers work, you will also gain some troubleshooting skills. This saves a lot of money, because you don't have to call the technician for every little thing. Thanks so much for your participation.

I have been using computers straight for 6 years, the same year i stayed here on my job. I learned the basic of computer but to really trouble shoot it, I really don't know. Maybe if I will own a computer myself or i will buy my own computer I will learn more about it. I only use office computer so that is why. About your question I believe it is important to know more about computers to use them efficiently and effectively. I can save you a lot of time if you know how to maximize the use of your computer.

Hi,
Yes, I too believe that computer has a wide range of applications, which is limited only by our efficiency. The more we explore about computing the more we learn to apply it for doing different jobs. As our experience increases it becomes more comfortable to work with our PC. Still its not mandatory. You can do away with advanced training. Thanks for your participation.

I think we definitely need some skills when it comes to using computers. When I first started I knew nothing. I had then a computer that was not connected to the Internet but I used it for putting up titles on my videos. It was very slow working only from floppy disks! Then I got a PC and had to learn a lot more especially about coming on line creating websites etc. I bought books and learned a little at a time.
I can't say I know a lot now, but quite a bit more than when I started out, and I think I would be hopelessly lost now, if I hadn't learned more about them. _Derek

Hi,
Sounds like you are an advanced user. But not all the people are like that. People need computers to do regular jobs like maintaining records, doing calculations, writing stuffs etc. The GUI is itself a tutorial. You learn more while using your PC. Almost every little thing is quite self explanatory. With an internet connection things have become further available to us. There is a huge knowledge base in internet and you can always access them for free. Isn't that amazing? Thanks so much for your contribution in this thread.

I believe it is just necessary to just even learn the basics of it for so many reasons. One is you can save lots of money when something just got wrong in your computer. You don't need to hire someone to fix something even a minor one. On the other hand, getting the right knowledge will give you more advantage than the opposite.

Yes, absolutely. Knowing the basics of computing always saves money. Nothing can be more pleasant than troubleshooting your own computer. If you can at least detect the defective parts, that may save both time and money. Thanks so much for your response.

There are many who are handling computers just with elementary knowledge. If something goes wrong, they depend on the technical person to take care of it. What you need to know about the computers is just the basic. Little knowledge is always dangerous. If you start tinkering with the computer with little or no knowledge, you either might damage something or might end up with an electric shock.

Hi,
In my experience greater depth in computer knowledge is necessary to actually do some significant harm to the system. I mean, you can damage your computer to some extent due to your ignorance. But that is often easily repairable. But when experts like hackers intentionally unleashes hell on the world of computing, the result is often more devastating. Thanks so much for your response.

In this modernized world the need for experts in the field of computer has increased at a quick pace. Learning computer and knowing its features is very important.Hence without learning computer we will not be able to operate the changing technology which is upgraded often and it is becoming tougher to operate computer day by day.

Hi,
I completely agree to that. Today nothing can actually advance without taking help from computers. Every field of study has extensive use of computers and internet. Even literature and other forms of art depend heavily on new technologies. Some application softwares are entirely devoted to their use. Without having knowledge of basic computing it is nearly impossible to take even a single step. Thanks so much for your participation.

Undoubtly we should learn computers in order to use them efficiently, because it will not only accelerate our work efficiency, but also help us to have more fun throughout the internet.Imagine how can we talk with a person who even can't do the typing well through the internet. If we don't learn how to use the computers,we will be the persons who are isolated from this new era.

Hi,
I couldn't agree more. Nothing is more interesting the exploring your computer system. It not only accelerate your work but also make your job more entertaining. Today, it has become increasingly difficult to think of doing our work without the help of computer and internet. Internet itself is a vast knowledge base. Everyday thousands of students log in to extract valuable information. The more you learn the more you want to learn and ultimately you are totally engrossed by this never ending quest for perfection. Thanks so much for your response.

These days, yes! I think that the more that I know about computers, they better it is for me to arm myself against hackers and viruses. Also, you have people attempting to scam you and people who are trying to trick you into doing things that you don't want to do, and you have to arm yourself against that as well.
Yes, the more people know about computers, the better it is for them to guard themselves against things that could happen to them.

Hi, for me, I think it will better for you to learn the computer skills in advance if you want to use the computer more efficiently. But it will be OK if you do not learn computer skills in advance. Why should say that? Just because you can use computer in your daily life, with the time you use, you will know much about the computer knowledge. So at that time you may be so ggod at computer!

Whether it is necessary or not depends on the purpose of your using. If you want to use computer simply, you need not to learn computer. You can learn it by yourself. If you want to become an export on computer, you should learn the computer, and make good effort of learning.

Hi, I would say that. It is important to learn about computers. Just because you would be able to stay up to terms with is much technology that you can I wouldn't say it is mandatory. Though because that is your decision. But.... I would recommend it because they can make life a WHOLE lot easier and not only for work but it is good to play around on them too. You can go to games and watch other means of entertainment such as videos.
