Hi guys... I am a reader.. I read every kind of book... I have a personal collection of many kinds of books.. from self-help books to real life spy stories... I don't have love-stories only.. And I don't want them either... They're way too fantastic or way too tragic or way too... something...!!!! Except those I have all kinds of books and I read them from time to time... I repeat reading the same book many times too, if I liked it a lot or else, if I didn't understand something or for any other reason... Now, I know many of us don't like reading at all.. Many of us have not touched a book for years and won't do so for another few years... LOL... But to those, who are into reading, I have a question...
Do you read the same book again for any reason??? If yes, what can be the reasons??? Please comment...

Hi friend,
There are many books (most of them in fact) that I read only once. THere are even some that I will give a quick reading, just out of curiosity. But there are some books that "talk" to me. Those books open new lines of though every time I read them. I don´t read many of them anymore to know what happens (I know that by heart), but linger on what was said and why it was said.
There are other books thathave many readings depending on your experiences and your moods. I remember many years ago, my youngest daughter went to the US for a year with a student exchange. I made her take a book with her against her wishesas she said she was not going to read. I put in her suitcase 100 years of solitude, by colombian Nobel prize García Márquez. She read it and sent letters talking about the book. I found it very interesting because she had read another book that the book I had read and reread many times. I had to give it another reading to see it with her eyes.
I have favorite books and favorite authors. They come forward on different moments in my life.
Have a nice day.

It´s a great book and a great author! Another author that I rearead often is John Stainbeck. And then there are also the romantic books that I reread, specially when I´m ill and don´t want anything difficult. English classics are good for that. I specially love Jane Austen, maybe over the Bronte sisters.

Hi Marguicha and Doryvien... Thanks to both of you for sharing... It seems as if this is a great book... '100 years of Solitude'... I am going to buy it as soon as I can... I hope it is in English only... What is it about??? The name suggests it will provide a lot of food for thought.. Is it available everywhere??? Please let me know... Good Day!

Oh, I love reading, too. And I have my own collection of books, too. But unlike you, I have mostly fiction and romance books, especially historical romance. I want to know how people at the time interact and dating. I read the same book again and again mostly because I like it or some event or conversation triggered me to look at the book again and understand it better.

Hi jenny, thanks for sharing... Yes, I agree it will be fun to know how people dated in different times.. I am a history fanatic so I can read a romantic story from ancient times... ;) I don't like the modern ones because they are too much for me... The modern love stories are too loud and after finishing the story, I find asking myself Is the Possible???
I am somewhat like you when it comes to choosing a good book... :)

I reread books all the time. Because I liked the stories and the characters and want to experience them again. They're like old familiar friends that you can spend an hour or two with.

I do tend to read many books over again, at least once. Perhaps twice or three times. There is just some books that I keep for my permanent collection, that I go through after all of these years, that I have not read in a while and decide that I want to re-read it again. Most likely to see if it has held up to my previous enjoyment of the book.
Although, re-reading the same book is not always a bad thing. Through the first time reading, you might not catch certain plot points. Subtle touches the the author puts in. You read through the second time and catch these things. At least I know I do. It can be very interesting to see what touches and things that I have missed throughout the entire story. So that is a good reason to re-read a second time, to see the little things you might have missed the first time through.

Hi Megamatt... Thanks for sharing... I am glad to find someone like me in reading... I too re read and find that I did miss some essential points which made the story more exciting.. At such findings, I simply smile and thank myself for reading it again... Moreover, if re-reading is pleasurable then it is definitely a good thing... Good Day!

Hi Mr_pearl,
Yes, I do repeat readings of old books in my possession. I also keep a rather large collections of books just like you, except that I have romance novels and I don't read those with violent plots and suspense thrillers. I have a few Nancy Drew books in the library but haven't read a single title. I bought them for my daughter when she was in elementary and that was years ago.
When I feel like reading, I open up a book from my favorites just to entertain myself or when I want to relax from a stressful day. I sometimes prefer reading those books that I've already read because more or less I know how it will end.
Have a nice day!

Hi Christiana... It is wonderful to find that such a beatiful girl also indulges in reading... Most of the beauties don't like reading at all... I am amazed to know this... It is true that re-reading gives another feelings every time one reads the book again... Keep it up... :)

It's pretty simple. I will reread a book if it was a great book. I want to revisit it again. I want to enjoy it again. I want back into that world.

Great... I too feel that way many times... Thanks for sharing Dawnald... I feel the same way about many books... i have a book which describes the history of America and I have read it many many hundred times... It contains different writings from respective times... It begins with a letter from Columbus to his King and Queen, about finding new lands... There are different articles and letters or extracts from diaries of forgotten people which give an exact account of how it was and what happened then... I have 'revisited' that book again and again... Love it...

Hello mr_pearl,
Reading has been a favorite activity of mine during my free hours since I was in elementary school. I started enjoying it as a hobby reading Nancy Drew Mystery Stories. Then, as many other growing-up girls, I also got hooked on reading romantic novels when I got to high school and college.
Through the years, I have collected a considerable lot of books -- from romance novels, mystery-suspense thrillers, science-fictions, inspirational stuffs, self-help and Do-It-Yourself guide books to other reference books. If it's really a good book, it doesn't matter to me if I have read it before, I can always read it again anytime I have free time and I feel like reading.

Hi Kulasa... Thanks for sharing... It is great to know that someone is there somewhat like me... Yes, I too have collected books over years... I never remember buying a whole lot of them.. One or two at a time... My mind (and my wallet too) tells me first finish with these books then think of buying more... I have collected a lot of books from all categories (except the romantic ones)... And love to read them again and again from time to time... Happy Lotting!

I'm a huge reader, but I rarely re-read. Usually when I do re-read it's because I REALLY loved the book the first time I read it and because lots of time has passed and I want to remind myself of all the details again. If a lot of time has passed and you've forgotten quite a bit, it's almost like reading it for the first time again.

That is nice... You are mighty lucky that you have a new book ready always, when you finish one... That generally doesn't happen with me... I have to wait for a month sometimes to buy a new book... That is one of the many reasons, why I re read ... Thanks for sharing... Have fun!

Oh yes, that can be a reason to read the same thing again... I have done it when I had started to become a reader... I usually would forget things that I had read before a few weeks, so had to all over again... Now, it doesn't bother a lot... I don't forget things easily... :)
Thanks for sharing...

Hi Mr_pearl,
I only read a book again if I didn't understand it, or parts of it. Or if there is nothing else to read, or to review it so I can relate it to the movie (if it was made into a movie). Otherwise, I move on to the next available book. I don't read all the time, but when I do I do it in one sitting, meaning I don't let go of the book unless I've finished reading it.

Hi mylotters, i wishes and warm support always for you for ever. Let me come to the point generally the repetitive reading of the particular book may influenced by many factors first ever one is the way of the book in which cast us out and the particular author who passioned us a lot but according to me i don,t be a repetitive reader but i take so much time to complete a book as i fully digest the book bothe mentally and souly it is the matter of the concern repetitive reading may wast up our time meanwhile we may read other books instead which may enhance our knowledge more and more. Thank you.

Hi... Thanks for sharing... I agree with you that one can devote the same time to read some other books... But don't you think that reading more than one time might enable our minds to see the things from different views.. I use repetitive reading for that... There some things which are understood after reading again and again... Please try it once... :) Have a good time!

Under two conditions I'll read books again and again. One is for study, I read textbooks or references many times to make myself understand them better. The other is for entertainment. If I find something interest me, I'll read many times. I have read Chinese ancient novel "Three Kingdom" for more than ten times.

I too read to entertain my mind... Especially when I am alone, I like to read how Sherlock Holmes saved someone and caught the culprits... And I read again and again...
