I use Avira Anti-virus for virus protection, Windows Firewall as my firewall and a mixture of Malwarebytes and Spyware Blaster for spyware protection. All programs are free, and work very well.

Have used all these before also and, for me, only MBAM is good. I had a bad experience with Avira it has a high rate of FP and one time had BSOD with it. Spywareblaster, although its suppose to be passive, I had always felt it somehow slowing my PCs. I wonder why every time I uninstall it from a PC it always feels faster(you can try it yourself), especially surfing. Thanks for responding.

FP with Avira? What does FP mean? I've never had a BSOD with Avira.
Spywareblaster only programs your web browsers to detect harmful sites with malware. I don't see how this could slow your PC down. I could do this manually but this would take days to do.
My PC runs fast but I do have a good one (custom built).

I currently use Avast! Antivirus, and it is probably one of the best anti-virus software out there. It works very well and I got almost no viruses since I started using it. It scans all websites you visit and blocks any virus that it detects. And you can schedule virus scans and have Avast scan your computer automatically any time of any day. It's very useful and I recommend it.

Thanks for your suggestion, I am considering Avast! although I've had a bad experience with their old version - the one with the tape deck interface. As of now that's AVG - 2, Avast! - 1.

I use Avast!-
Along with Spybot Search N Destroy and Spyware blaster.
When you manually update the Spybot and Spyware Blaster, you run Spybot while Avast is still running on your computer. This will in turn make Avast run 'along' with spybot. This is very useful in detecting spywares and viruses more efficiently.

I am using QuickHeal in last 9 months. Before that I have used AVG, Avast, Kaspersky, Panda and Joenalarm. The mentioned antivirus were freeware and kaspersky was paid version. But I am satisfied with Quickheal and I shall renew my subcription for further one year.

In my opinion kaspersky is the best but as yours is expiring soon so you should try AVG internet security version. It is the best in the business and is quite good in protection.I am using it for a long time now,its almost 2 years and it has never let me down

As you know I'm currently using Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 (3 PCs) and I am not renewing cause I don't like the KIS update sequence which takes a long time and slows the computer down to a crawl. I tried KIS2010 and 2011 and I don't like them because of the automatic rootkit scan which can disrupt anything your doing at the computer when it kick starts without your consent. That is why I'm looking to jump ship from Kaspersky. AVG Internet Security 9.0 is indeed one I'm giving consideration. Thanks for your suggestion.

The best antivirus program I use is Microsoft Security Essentials. It's caught every virus that has tried to install itself on my computer so far, and it, along with MalwareBytes and SpyBot Search & Destroy have kept my computer clean.

MSE is good but its somehow slow in full scan, MBAM, now that is an essential, this has rescued me several times already, keep on using it. Spybot S&D, it's Teatimer can really slow down the PC and is not that strong in finding spyware, maybe its signatures are kind of simplistic, I have stopped using S&D. Thanks for responding.
