WTF! My monitor of my desktop computer doesn't work now. I found it this morning, it was all right last night!! Though I brought my laptop from my school, so I haven't stuck in the worst no-computer life. But I have some files in my desktop, I want to copy them to my laptop. But how can I do if I can't see anything? Can you operate a computer without monitor? Do you have any idea can help me?

it's too difficult to use system without monitor.. though I have tried once and got success.. you can do one thing is take your hard disk to other place and attach with another system. alternatively you can try one thing turn on your system - Windows Logo+BREAK press together.. it will open your system properties.. tab 6 times so that it will be at remote. press Alt + R and enter connect your laptop with your computer you can take remote desktop which will allow you to access your system..

Are you sure that your monitor is broken? In many cases, I found if PC monitor couldn't display anything (blank) even if the CPU has starting, the problem is not in the monitor itself. The trouble could be in the VGA card. Let me suggest you. Make sure that your PC is turn off and the cord is unplug. Open CPU cover and uninstall the VGA card. Clean it with smooth paper or tissue and then install it again. Plug the cord and turn on your computer. If the problem persist, try your monitor in other CPU to make sure whether it is good or broken. There is no other way to take your data from your desktop while your monitor couldn't display anything otherwise you uninstall the hard drive and install it in other PC as the slave then copy your data using removable disk storage. Alternative way, if you have ever connected your PC with your laptop in a network and drive or folder contain your files has shared, you may connect them and turn on both then you can copy your files through network. Note, you only can do this if the problem is on your monitor but if the problem is on graphic adapter (VGA), you couldn't do this.

Thank you for your advice! But I'm sure it's the monitor, because it can't be turned on anymore. There must be a break-point in the electric circuit inside.

So, the led power is off, isn't it? Does your monitor installed properly? I mean have you checked the cord plugged properly? Try to unplug and then plug it to make sure there is electric power enter to the monitor. If you have tried it and it useless, then I am sure your monitor is broken. Unfortunately, we can't use PC without monitor since monitor is one of the main interface from PC to us so we could operate it. If I was you, I will will uninstall the hard drive and install it in other computer. Or you may bring your CPU to school and borrow your school monitor just for a while . It just took several minutes to do it.

There will be a missing link. You know, computing is a two way communication process. You input data to the computer through mouse and keyboards, and then the computer communicates with you through the monitor. It's a system. If one part is missing, the system won't work properly. Just like with our body system, if the brain, the eyes or the heart is missing, the system will bog down.

you can connect the laptop to your computer, just if is a newer laptop. the older laptops cannot be used as monitors. its a good thing to try the network, but just if you had sometime connect your computer in one network. try connect your hard to laptop. you have a S-ATA hard?

well you could actually get the files you need in that computer. Try slaving the hard disk of that pc to another pc. In that way you could have a back up of your files. Also buy another monitor, I think monitors are cheap now a days. Anyway goodluck :)

I think you can borrow a monitor from your friends. After you copy your files to your laptop, you can return it to your friends.

If you just hook up your laptop to your computer you can view it on your laptop monitor. At school I have a laptop but in the classrooms you just hook your laptop up to the monitor and your laptop serves as a keyboard and I'm pretty sure the same thing can be done the other way around. Or if you have a tv you can hook that up and use it as a monitor.

I had a problem similar to this. I bought a product off ebay that let me connect the harddrive of my desktop to my laptop via USB allowing me to access the files that were on it. The product itself didn't cost that much. It was $7 + shipping and handling. If you want, try searching IDE to USB. Good Luck!

you can take the laptop monitor as a monitor of a desktop computer. Use a serial interface link a laptop to the main computer chassis.

Its bit difficult task to do. To access the files onto your desktop computer, you have to take out its hard drive and connect it to your laptop externally through some cables which are presently available in the market. Then you can access all your important files and can create a backup of them. Happy mylotting.
