Star, our oldest feral cat is at the vet to have some surgery. She's our most "decorative" cat, being a snowshoe Siamese, but if we can catch her, you know she's sick.
She seems to have early stage stomatitus, and they are going to cauterize her gums, give her big shots of cortisone, and other stuff.
She is about 9 yrs old and never has been a big gal, but was fat at 7 and half lbs, now she's under 5. So, please keep our "Siamese colored meteorite", Shooting Star, in your prayers or whatever it is you do...
I talked to the vet and they said she was waking up, but they were going to put her in the carrier early so they didn't have to try and handle her when she was more awake, so we need to get her early tomorrow morning.

I've never had a cat with tooth problems. I guess we were lucky. She is so pretty. I hope she's feeling better now. I had cortisone shots for my "frozen" shoulder and I'm feeling better now. I hope she will be too.

oh, I'm glad to hear your shoulder is feeling better, I had a few shots in mine, only worked for a short time, but it was nice while it lasted!
turned out I needed surgery, why the shots didn't last long, but since the surgery, I've done much better

thanks, lunchz, she's anemic so we are trying to help her feed up a bit, and keeping her away from the other cats too
Star is a very shy, and she's almost 9, but we really like her and any cat who isn't demanding constant attention around here is always appreciated!

She is so beautiful! I can see she is a little thin the poor thing! I certainly will send a few prayers her way and I sincerely hope she will be okay…I used to have a Siamese many, many years ago when I lived in Italy as a child. I got it as a kitten and I was told it was a girl but it didn’t take long to learn that my girl was in fact a boy! His name was Geo and looked quite similar to your Star although a little bigger but he was a boy as we discovered! I hope little Star will fine and back to her old self. Nine years old is not too bad and if she comes through this she can have a few years yet...Here’s hoping and praying...

One of my older cats had to have some teeth pulled and had a lot of dental problems. Maybe he had the same thing. After his teeth were pulled he was much better. I hope yours will be the same.

I know how awful it is when our dear fur friends are ill. Recently, both goats were ill, one after the other, I thought Tulip was going to die...she didn't eat, drink or chew her cud for days and she was hiding under the house. Both are fine again now, in fact Tulip was downright playful with my friend and I and both the dogs yesterday. She was cheeky and sprightly - I've never seen her that way before. Last night little Roxy started to cry out of the blue. She hopped off her chair and came to me to be picked up but she continued to cry...very loudly and I didn't know what to do. I just held her carefully and talked softly to her then she let out a blood curdling, ear splitting cry so I put her down and began to rub/massage her chest and under her shoulders but above her tummy. She soon relaxed and stopped crying so I took her outside to walk around the yard. She was ok but she went to sleep on the floor here next to me and her little body seemed to be trembling very faintly while she was in a deep sleep. Today she is fine, running round chasing after Lucy, checking out the goats, she really likes Tulip. I'm sure she's ok now but that doesn't stop the fact that I was very worried about her.
I'm sure Star will pick up really soon.

I had never heard of the Snowshoe... I had visions of a cat with large flat feet...
According to Wikkipedia, "Snowshoe cats have an affectionate and docile disposition."
I'm guessing that's not the case with yours?

I'm sure that the snowshoe breed is that way, but Star is just a pointed cat with white feet, in her case, snowshoe more describes the way she looks...
She was found about 4 weeks old in a hole at a construction site, the man who found her had to get a tetanus shot because she bit him - thru his construction gloves!

It is sure hard on such a born free kitty to have to go in a carrier, even for her own good. You know, I am sure my cat has something similar, but the vet does not label it as stomatitis. Both the blonds have had some teeth removed this year, but the drooler seems to get worse, and the youngster still hollers like he is in pain ever so often. The vet says it is just the luck of the draw that I have two cats with oral problems. Just so you know, I have gone back to keeping my online prayer list and I added your kitty to it.

I will keep your little, precious cat in my prayers. Every pet that I ever had, it would rip my heart out to see them suffer. Animals are earth's angels, for sure.

Already prayed for Star. I missed our own cat. She passed away when I was in my teens. I wanted to get another cat but my kids are still young. I might get one when they are a bit older and more responsible.
May your cat get well soon.
