It would depend on the movie. For the movie Avatar, it was highly anticipated since it was James Cameron's first directing project since Titanic. The movie was created using breakthrough technology and it is more enjoyable to watch in on 3D
However, for some movies, it might not be that worth it to watch in 3D. This is especially since not all scenes are really that dynamic with all the special effects that would make the additional few bucks for a 3D movie worth it.

what you say is absolutely true.James Cameroon used state of the art technology hence Avatar was enjoyable to watch on 3D.All 2D movies if translated into 3D might not give the same thrill factor. It is only movies whose story requires visual effects which will ultimately be good on 3D.

I watched the movie Shrek 4 and Toy Story 3 on 3D but I didn't enjoy it as much. I thought I wasted my money. Although the story of those movies were good in themselves, the visual effects weren't enough to make me feel that the extra bucks I spent for a 3D movie was worth it.

Yes i too go for acclaimed movies like Avatar. To keep a couple of scenes in 3D and claim it to be a 3D is duping the people.I think the certifying authorities ought to be strict on this aspect.Ultimately a movie which draws our attention and keeps us engaged is what makes it memorable.

well watching clash of the titans in 3d was a ripoff not too many scenes in 3d. I was putting and removing the glass to check.

I watch a tremendous amount of movies and yes Avatar was by far the best made in a while. I enjoy a variety of movies and I think only some would be suitable for 3D.
I have never really been a fan of 3D movies, but if that's your thing then go for it. I have found that the high definition on a large flat screen is more than good enough for me.

I accept your vies that Avatar was one of the best in 3D.There are only some which are suitable for viewing on 3D.I too would like to watch an occasional movie in 3D especially those requiring it.High definition is what i long for,in a few months we are in India going to get high definition telecasts.I wonder if there are movies made in hi definition?

I am accustomed to watch regular movies, but I like new style 3D movies. In nowadays they are not more, but If we want to watch any we can do It. I think in future people will watch only 3D movies. I have special 3D glasses and I can watch all 3D movies in my home and I do not need go to cinema anymore. Which type of movies you prefer? Take care, Have a nice day!

I am youngster and this why I enjoy them. I never had seen 2D movies. I do not know for disk type, but I think It was DVD RW or Blu ray disc. On TV we usually can watch movies whose we are seen many times they do not show anything new. Your always welcome, Have a nice day!

i prefer to watch movies...using my laptop. so, 'regular'.
actually, i haven't tried 3d yet. haha. and i don't usually go to a cinema to watch movies; i'm rather unwilling to pay. i enjoy watching movies through my laptop; it's like a private cinema. and with my faithful headphones, no one can disturb me with disgusted comments or startle me by shrieking.

What you is true.As a youngster i watched many movies at the cinema theater for its sound and effects. But as i age i would prefer to sit in the quiet of my home in front of my small L.C.D screen and view movies without distraction. These days we get good movies on T.V.which we can watch at leisure from the comforts of the house.

omg regular movies. My family went to see the new Shrek 3d for 1 it cost alot more then the normal movie. 2 you eyes start to hurt after awhile from the glasses. 3 If you take the glasses off then your eyes will hurt even more trying to look at the screen. 4 you walk out with marks on your face from the glasses. I'm sure its not good for your eyes.

I do admit i felt a strain in my eyes.I would remove glasses and shift my attention momentarily to avoid strain.I would stop looking at the screen for a couple of minutes but i guess this would entail missing a minute of the movie. As regards marks i went for a late show, returned and slept with no indication of a mark.I accept your view that if one watches 3D on a continuous basis it would be a strain as compared to a regular2D movie.

For me I prefer to watch regular 2D movies, or should I say I prefer to at the moment.
The reason being is that if I watch a movie the most important thing for me should be the storyline, followed by the acting, then the camera work and other embellishments such as soundtrack and 3D. The trouble is that the majority of the current 3D movies use it as a gimmick which doesn’t really add anything to the overall telling of the story and often can end up as a distraction.
Once the novelty factor of 3D has worn off and studios/directors have had there 5 minutes of fun and started to look at using 3D as an embellishment to tell the story rather than a gimmick to put bums on seats then my opinion maybe changed.
Now you mention Avatar. Well I have to say the 3D worked as a marvellous embellishment although I personally didn’t think much to the actual storyline. And having watched both 2D and 3D versions the 3D version is superior.

I Support you in your preference of 2D over 3D.The reason i feel 2D scores over 3D is the story line, camera work, soundtrack etc.I do accept your view when you say the initial craze towards 3D is due to visual effects and when that wears off we could probably see wonderful 3D movies with all the good features of a 2D movie.3d is superior to 2D but i wish they would incorporate the good in a 2d movie so that we viewers would get more pleasure.

I can't stand 3D at all. I can never keep the image in focus and I always come out of the theater with a headache. I don't think that 3D technology is all that great. Maybe in ten years it'll be phenomenal but right now it's just an expensive headache to me.
I prefer to watch movies in 2D. It's cheaper, and I like movies for the stories anyway. I don't watch for stunning effects, though they help. The way I see it, a good story can save a movie with bad effects, but good effects can't save a movie with a bad story.

Some movies really don't even merit having the label of 3D. They go through a really cheap 3D conversion and then audience feel ripped off cause they shelled out the cash for 3D and it wasn't that great. I'd prefer to save money and not get a headache. I'll probably go see a movie in 3D around 5 years from now and see if it's any better.

Viewing movies on 3D is a strain on the eyes.As time progresses there might be more refinement in 3D movies making it easier on the eye.Stunning effects do help in the sense that they provide a diversion from the run of the mill.A good movie with a good storyline,sound...will score over a 3D movie.

who would not like to watch 3d movie... 3d effects are good and it is better than watching a normal movie... 3d movies can also have good storyline.. in fact with new technology we can convert any normal movie to 3d movie and enjoy the effects along with the story...

I do agree with you it gives a great thrill watching movies on 3D.Normal movies unless backed with good acting... will not give the same initial thrill factor.I would dearly like to see a normal movie converted into a 3D to view its effects. That would indeed be very desirable to watch a good 2D movie having all the special effects.

Of course I would prefer a 3D movie to a regular movie any day. This is the reason why we go to theaters. To make us feel that we are really in the scenes. Making movies in 3D makes a big step forward towards this goal. So, yes, I would prefer 3d over a regular movie.

I would prefer to watch an action, sci-fi or scary movie in 3D to enhance the effects. Of course the storyline has to be good enough to convince me to go to a movie theater in the first place. A movie that flops in the box office isn't going to make much difference watching in 2D or 3D. On the other hand, I would prefer watching a comedy or drama movie as a regular movie since the 3D effects are most likely to cause a distraction.

Action and sci-fi movies would be very desirable on 3D.But a comedy movie wouldn't require 3D effects. An ordinary movie which doesn't make an impression on the audience isn't worth being made into 3D.A movie with a great story, acting and sound effects wouldn't require 3D effects.

I have yet to see Avatar, but I hear the general opinion of critics is that while the animation is S.O.T.A.,* the story line is pretty simplistic. That said, I love animation, & if I could afford a ticket, I'd watch.
Ultimately I enjoy regular 2-D films just as much as animated, 3-D, whatever. But bottom line, I enjoy ANY film more when the writing, acting, editing, sound--all the stuff that really makes it work--is just plain good.

I do admit after a while 3D movies are a strain on the eyes.Avatar with its visual effects was enjoyable.I'm sorry you had to suffer a headache for a couple of days.
I would when i felt the strain momentarily remove my glasses and refocus after a couple of minutes.

If you're speaking about an average movie with 3D effects or a good movie without 3D effects I would chose the good movie, but if both movies are good than I would prefer the 3D one.Avatar was a 3D movies but not so much, more good was the story, better 3D effects you can find on Final Destination.

I'm comparing a good 3D movie with a good 2D movie. But i felt a certain strain in even a good 3D movie like Avatar which i normally don't feel in a good 2D movie.I guess age, state of my eyes and force of habit make me think on those terms.I'll definitely view Final Destination when i get a chance.

3D with its effects mesmerizes us.But i can't totally ignore 2d movies as they have wonderful storyline and acting. What i'd like to see if a regular movie is shot on 3d what the effect would be.3d movies far outweigh regular movies for their special effects.

I prefer 2d, i just dont like the 3d effect in most films i think it ruins it and i would rather focus on the film than the special effects.

There are some wonderful 2D movies whose finer aspects don't require 3d effects.I'm with you when you say the 3D effects in such movies could ruin the pleasure of viewing. Its a pleasure to watch a 2D movie in a theatre. As i grow older its an even greater pleasure to sit back in my room and watch good movies on T.V OR cd.

Yes i must correct myself the visual effects on a 3D movie make great viewing.Having been born and brought up on 2D movies i will definitely admit there are great 2D movies. What i ponder over is whether we can have continues diet of 3D movies...whether they are good for the eyes.Ultimately i guess it all depends on whether the movie will be good for viewing on 2D or3D.
