Dreams that seem real.

Have you ever had a dream that when you woke from it, you weren't sure if it really was a dream? Have you ever awakened, and thought that something in your dream had occurred, and it took you a while to realize it had not? I'm sure that's happened a lot of times to us. I was thinking today about a couple that I used to know. It was about 20 years ago, and at the time I was attending the same church they were. She came in one Sunday morning, wearing a sleeveless blouse, and had a huge bruise on her upper arm. Although her husband was thin, she was quite large. That is actually relevant, I'm not just pointing out someone's weight problem. Anyway, when asked about it, her husband blushed and she gave him a dirty look. And upon closer inspection, you could clearly see teeth marks within the bruise. Turns out, he was dreaming he was eating a hamburger. And he had taken her rather plump arm and bit into it thinking her arm was the hamburger. Funny, huh? Well, not to her at the time. Later on she would tell that story with actual humor. But of course then it wasn't too laughable.

Yes sometimes that happens to me. It even occurred to me sometimes that 'what if the dream is the real world and right now is the dream?' But that is too weird. lol. But is possible.

My dad once woke my mom up because he was singing I wish I were an Oscar Mayer weiner...I'm not kidding. She thought it was so funny she went and got my sister and me to see it for ourselves. He refuses to believe he did it, but he certainly did.

hi ambiepam, this discussion makes me remember a dream my son had that seemed so real to him that he came out in the dining area and stewed at me for making all that noise out in the road with the men I had hired to lay new pavement for our apt complex. I was angry at first thenI realized he was still partly asleep and dreaming. I grabbed his arm and shook it. He rubbed his eyes, looked at me and aske me why I was looking so upset.I told him he came in took my arm and shook it hard, bawled me out for all the noise the ;pavement layers were making . Ihad a bruise on my arm, he looked shocked and said, oh my I dreamed you had ordered those guys to lay concrete and I was so angry at you for making all that noise. He laughed and i relaxed and laughed too.He really was still dreaming that wild dream. My son was never mean towards me so that had really upset me until I realized he was really still dreaming. lol lol loll.

When I was ten, I went into my parent's bedroom in the middle of the night. I told my mom there was a man in my room with a knife. She told me there wasn't, and I insisted she go look. And she was right, there was no man. She told me the next morning she heard me say excuse me. And I remember doing that. I remember to the last detail even today what the man looked like. And I remember saying excuse me when I walked past. Yet none of it was real.

Oh, absolutely! I had one in high school where my boyfriend and I had eloped to Delaware to get married. I had to call him from the pay phone at school to find out if we'd really gone or not (in the dream, we took off during the night and got back in time to go to school so our parents wouldn't know). Man oh man - for DAYS that just felt so real!!!

Ha Ha.. that is kind of funny. I hate those dreams you have when you hear your alarm going off.. you hit snooze, and you're just too darn tired to wake up... but you get up, and do your morning routine (for me it hit me most when the kids were so young they still needed bottles) so I'd make the bottle and feed the baby and start getting dressed or whatever... then I'd wake up and realize I dreamt it all and I'm still in bed, the alarm is still going off, or the baby is still crying, and I still have to do all the stuff I thought I just did... arg!!

Yes, I've done that too! When I was in college, I would think I was getting up, getting dressed, getting ready for class, and then I would really wake up and find my alarm was still buzzing.

Oh my gosh, yes. I cannot remember any of them, right now, but some I wanted to go back to sleep and keep dreaming. Others I was thrilled to wake up. One time, and this may seem odd, I woke up in the middle of a, oh let's call it, a moment of ecstasy. That never happened before or after but it must have been some dream!

My mom and dad have passed and sometimes I dream about them and I am sure I have talked to them or they have been in the room with me.....it's actually kind of scary...for when you come to your senses...well sometimes I cry. Last night I went to bed and dozed off.....when I awoke I was not sure where I was supposed to be. I didn't really have a dream but couldn't remember if it were day or night...I don't like that either! LOL

Hi AmbiePam, Well I have to say that was quite a dream but not a great experience for his wife. I don't remember as many of my dreams as I would like to, however once in a while I will remember one. None however are as dramatic as that of your friend. Blessings.

When I was a child, I dreamed that I was on Let's Make a Deal, and for years afterward, I believed that I had been.

I haven't ever been unsure if a dream was real or not when I woke up, but I've had a few that I wanted to go back to sleep and continue the dream.

Ha! Her husband is lucky that she didn't dream that she was Joe Louis the following night! When I was little, I dreamed for several nights about a house/gas station situated along a highway. The dream was very detailed about the buildings, although I no longer remember what the rest of the dream was about. On an out of state car trip that the family took a week or so later, I saw the place I had dreamed about, and it was exactly as I dreamt it. I've always remembered that, as the trip was in a state that I'd never been in before.

Once when I was on holiday in the U.K.and my husband was alone on the farm he woke up in the night convinced that an intruder was by the bed about to attack him. He was fit in those days and sprang up giving a scissor kick and a karate chop - he really hurt himself on out mahogany bed-head as no one was there. Thanks for the memory and the laugh.

I have dreams too and mostly when I dream it feels like it is really happening and the feelings and the emotions that I have feel so real....sometimes I have dreams and they leave me feeling traumatised and thinking what is the meaning of that dream. I am personally very religious and in my religion we believe that dreams interpret something in your life .....

I had a dream once where my whole marriage life was laid out before me. I met the girl in a small rural place and we talked a lot. Then I came to talk with her parents but apparently her family did not like me. Then we ran away and got married with each other and lived very happily. I woke up feeling happy but at the same time very sad as well. It's like leaving a person you know well knowing she's not real. I also got a very hazy image of her in my mind as well. Even now talking about it, I still don't remember all the details but just the vague outline of the dream.

Oh yes, dreams are always like you are living in reality. When I dream, I have to catch up with my dream when I wake up and tried to remember every scene, conversation and the character especially if your dream concerns your family, relatives and close friends. It is nice to remember, if it did not suddenly pop out of your mind, those dreams especially if it's a happy one to recall.

Hi, AmbiePam. I have had many dreams that seemed so real until it scared me when I woke up! Especially when I have these really bad dreams! I have to take a deep breath and come to my senses. When I realize that it was all a bad dream, I would become very relieved. I mean I am terrified! I will wake up and my mind is telling me that it was all a bad dream, it was not real. It felt so real, I am telling you! So, this dream that her husband had, he actually played it out. Wow! That is very scary. I am glad that I was not laying beside him that night. I know that his wife has to have been angry like crazy. What a bad way for a dream to happen.

I have had several dreams that seemed very real while I was having them. For me, most of the time, when I have dreams that seem and feel very real, they end up coming true. These are the dreams that I wake up from with my heart racing and my body covered in a cold sweat. One that I can look back at and laugh about occured the night, and yes, I am sure it was THE night, that I got pregnant with my oldest child. I had a dream that was just like the the way the movie, "Look Who's Talking" begins. I remeber waking up in a very cold sweat, my heart was racing, I woke up my son's biologiocal father and said, "We are going to have a son in 9 months." Of course, he didn't believe me unitl later on, when the pregnancy tests came back positive. I still look back on that night and laugh, especially when I see that particular movie!

Hello AmbiePam ! I have had many, which feel so real, most of which I doubted to be a dream for an instance. I do not yet understand the cause of such dreams. How do they occur ?

Whenever i dream of something, i pray for it specially when its bad but still it come true. Sometimes i dont want to sleep so i wont have a dream. dreams always look like real in sleep. by the way, I never encounter any bruise or injuries which encountered in dreams and woke up having them. so far, my dreams are just a plot of stories triggered by my brain while sleeping.
