Knowing you have to get up early, do you stay up late anyway?

I am a full time stay at home mommy and am used to getting up early and having to stay up all day and take care of our son by myself but lately I have been feeling like an insomniac. I don't want to go to bed early when I should and I end up staying up super late every night. Then, I don't want to get out of bed in the morning. I feel super lazy. Why am I not in bed right now? I'm so stupid..lol I know I have to get up in the morning. Do you do this?

Hello. For me its actually depends on my tasks daily. I'm still a student and have quite a number of assignments to finish. So I would usually need to stay up late anyway even though I must get up early. But sometimes there was an exception for me to stay up late because I would play computer games until I feel very sleepy. Usually if I stay up late because playing computer games I will feel lazy to wake up in the morning.

Lately I've been waking up early even though I stayed up late at night. Maybe it's because I've already set my mind to wake up early.

Yeah, I understand what you mean. For me though, it doesn't really matter why I stayed up in the first place, if I gotta get up early, I'm going to be just as tired and just as lazy if I was up studying or working, then if I was just playing video games.

I do the same thing. Like right now I'm still in front of my computer even though I know that I have to wake up early tomorrow. But I just can't help sleeping late because there are so many things that I like to do every day that I always feel like I don't have enough time.

Yeah, last night when I started this discussion I should have been in bed. I was good though. I actually ended up going to bed soon after, so at least I made it to bed before 3am, for once. lol

Yes, I am very bad when it comes to getting to bed on time, so this has happened to me on more than one occasion. I guess it is just the way I am, I am an evening person as opposed to a morning person, so that is the main reason...

Yeah, I can't stand the actual getting up and waking up part. I'm fine once I have been up for about 20 minutes or so but that first few minutes I am not someone you want to talk to. My husband had to go to the doctor this morning and his alarm kept going off even though he said he turned it off. I made him unplug it. =)

I feel the same way! I keep thinking of all the things that I could be doing throughout the day while doing other things and it seems as if not everything ever gets done. I need to make a schedule for myself. Go to bed and get up at the same time every single day, regardless of whether I HAVE to be up or not, do all of my cleaning in the morning, like I used to, that way my afternoons are for playing with my son and purely relaxing. How long will it take for me to get on a good schedule you think? Everyone tells me it takes 28 days to break a habit. How many days to start a new one?

I don't worry about staying late, I manage to wake up at the same time no matter if I go at 10pm or 12pm lol. Always wake up before 7. But I gotta tell you, it takes a lot of willpower to get up earlier than 7 when it's a nice chilly winter morning ;)

You are so lucky. I wish I could set my internal clock to do that. I have never been able to, even when I was in high school and had to get up at like 5:30 every morning. I would go to bed at the same time every night and wake up at the same time every day mon-fri but on Sat. I would sleep until 11 or later if I didn't set an alarm, regardless of how early or late I went to bed. I don't know why. You would think my body would have still woken up early.

HI there Noodlesmommy, I raised my girls by myself and I worked 2nd shift so I can very much relate to this. I used to stay up late knowing that I had to get up early to get them off to school and that I would not be able to sleep during the day because I babysat for my 2 yr old grandson during the day. I had 4 girls...several years apart so my oldest was married and had children long before my other girls were old enough to move out. Between work and taking care of my grandson everyday and also dividing my time to be fair to all my girls and still all the other stuff such as making sure that bills were paid and on time and buying groceries and cooking and cleaning ...all that are needed to keep a decent home...well I'm rambling here but what I found was that I NEVER seemed to have time for myself. I found that I was more relaxed and in a better frame of mind if I forfeited a couple of hours sleep in exchange for some "me time". Mornings were tough for sure but not nearly as bad as when I didn't take a little time for myself. That time may have been just being on line...taking a long bath or reading a book but it was needed just as much and maybe more than the sleep I lost in doing so.

Yep. Hahahaha. Sometimes, it's just really fun to stay up late, watch television or surf the net, even if I know that I need to wake up early the next day to cook my lunch and go to work. Hehehehe. One time, I did this, and in the end, I ended up having only 2 hours of sleep, so when I arrived at work, I was groggy and sleepy, so I ended up drinking 3 cups of coffee just to stay awake. Hehehehe.

it depends upon the situation.but for sure,if i have time i still want to sleep early for me to have more energy to face the next day ahead.sometimes when it's new year's eve,we do celebrate of course the fireworks and greetings from friends and relatives over the phone, which is never ending for some reasons hehe! then the new year's day we always have this day celebrated in the house of our greatgrandmothers. same as christmas day. but if it's an outing trip, yeah we always wanted to sleep early, but if there are friends around to sleepover,i think there's not much sleep to happen, because of too much excitement specially when friends are around, haha! really loved the feeling of having friends/closest friends around,

I normally get to bed after midnight. When I have a morning appointment, I would still go to bed after midnight, especially when I could not sleep. I tried to sleep earlier but I got up at around 2/3am and could not sleep anymore. So, I stick to my sleeping time, after midnight. I use alarm to get me up earlier than normal for an early appointment.

I seem to go to bed later and later. I was going to bed around 11 or 12 but now I am lucky if I am in bed by 3am. I did end up getting to bed last night before 3 and had to get up this morning around 9:30-10, which wasn't so bad. I'm glad my son slept in a little while. He has been getting up around 7 the past few days and its killing me...lol

if i know that i have a plane to catch early in the morning i don't sleep anymore.normally i try my best to be in bed before midnight coz i also have that kind of habit before of not being able to sleep early and then getting up with a bad mood and feeling sleepy the whole day.i just got tired of being not able to function in the daytime that's why i really forced myself to go to sleep early no matter what happens.it's all in the mind they say and i say it is true.

If that the following day I have to forestall very much, surely that I will go to bed early, but when already you have the schedule built-in, it is as that you get used to forestalling and not these with so much dream, but if during the day the labor day is very demanding, you do some sport and visit some friend, later if that one covers as a sleepwalker.

I think it's so suffering when you have to get up but you are still so sleepy.Even so,sometimes you just can't help to staying up at the previous night.I know this feeling very well because I did the same things as you. But it doesn't do good to your health. So I try to sleep as early as I can if I need to get up early tommorrow.Just lie on the bed quietly, breath slowly, don't think about anything but your own body, then you can go asleep quickly. You can have a try if you like.Good luck~ :)

Yes, it's quite common to me. I'm a college teacher and always have to prepare for next day's class the previous night. When there's too much work to be done, I have to stay up late anyway though I know I need to get up early next morning. But I'm also fully aware of the importance of enough sleep, especially to a female. So I manage to go to bed early at night.

The thing I noticed is that when I needed to get up early because there's an appointment, that's also the time I wanted to stay up late. Probably due to excitement or anxiety or just plain signs of denial of the need to wake up early.

Well it does happen to me everyday. Everyday I suppose to wake up at 6.30 to go to work which I do as daily routine, but I always stay awake until 1 am even sometimes to 2 am. I just cannot sleep that fast because so many things goes through my mind. If I really need good time sleep, I usually reminded myself to go to bed early or force myself to close my eyes and listening to relaxing music. That way, I can sleep longer than I usually do.

I enjoy staying up late. I am not an early to bed person. I never have been. Even if I know my day will be starting early, I don't change my habits. I will still stay up late.

Ah youth. I know that this is a factor behind this. It's been called Burning the candle at both ends among other things. The very people (doctors and nurses) who tell us not to do this are the same ones most guilty of doing it! My parents used to yell at my sister for doing it. My kids do it. I don't yell at them for it. I'm in awe of this youthful activity. Exercise helps a lot as well. Being in shape and eating right makes you need less sleep because you are able to sleep better. But, warning: This goes away with high heels, body in your hair, and elasticity in your skin. Happy "Youthing"

I try my best to sleep early when I know I have to get up early in the morning but most of the time I failed to sleep early. I thinks now its my habit to stay up late and even when I try to sleep early, I can;t sleep.
