India
July 21, 2010 7:57pm CST
Daily i have seen most people who are working in late night in offices.I really hate to work after 7 P.M in office.I think most people are working in night because they are not utilizing the timing in day times. So they make "working night" as their habit. How about you? Will you guys work at late night?? Please share your thoughts? Happy mylotting..

I work 3rd shift. that means I START at 11pm and don't go home until after 7am. I have been doing this for 11 years. My office is 24 hours a day, but I am the only one here -alone - all night long. I like it because I prefer not working with people, I get to go on the computer when the phone calls are slow, and i get a lot of things done in the middle of the night. plus I get paid extra to work 3rd shift because there are not many people who are willing or can work these hours. I took me a few years to get used to the hours but now it is second nature.

I used to work as a call center agent and most of my schedule are in graveyard shift. It's worth working at night at least your not too prone to traffic and crowded place. The only problem i encounter is that our Dog cannot recognize me when I came home because I showed up when every one is sleeping and I'm at sleep when every one is awake. @,@

Yes. I understand that call center people has to work in night shift only.If you are working in night means, you will face both advantages and disadvantages. Most probably you will not see the world in day times. You always see the world at night.Thats also cool.

i hate night shift. it is not good to our health if we work night shift for a long time. so those who's line of work require them to stay awake at night they need to take care of their health more.

I also hate that but it is unavoidable. After my work in the company,as much as possible I just wanted to rest and do other things but I am maintaining another job so that means I have to work until 10 in the evening. That's already late for me cause I normally finish work at 5 or 6.

If you work for two jobs means it is difficult to avoid work at night. Some people can not avoid that, because of their responsibilities .Good :)

Yeah people that work nites especially in an office enviroment slack off like crazy. If you have a good work etheic and catch them emailing or testing friends I would consiter telling it to your boss.If not you should at least ignore it and keep on working hard.

I used to work in a graveyard/night shift. It was very hard but I had to endure it because the company I worked with pays well. But in the end, I realized that I was sacrificing my health (I got sick after several months and I realized my appetite's ruined because of the change in my body clock). Now, I want to work within the normal hours (8 or 9am to 5pm), but if I really have to work at night, it wouldn't be for a full 8-hour shift. And maybe only until 11pm. Nothing compares to sleeping at night.

hello, anjo12 I'm agree with you absolutely. My problem is very similar to yours. Now i had a serious stomach-ache.But that is too late for regrets, health is gone for ever, now I must consier whether to change a soft job, then no longer do I have to work into deep night, Besides, women should have enough sleeping to keep their good looks. :)

You are right. I also hate that. I never like to work overtime because I have spent my daytime in the office. I shall have my own time for my family. It will drive me crazy if I have to go home so late everyday. It's very tiring and sad for me. Perhaps some bosses like that because they think at least the salaries are worth to it. However, do they think about whether their employees have energy to go back to work next day? And their lives must mess up if everyday they have to spend so long time to work. I love China

Hi, I am a fulltime housewife now,but I used to work late when I was single. I worked as a customer service officer in call centre. It required me to work on shift,so when I was on afternoon shift,i need to work till 1am in the morning. It might be tiring, but it is part of my job and responsibility. I was handling all sort of calls everyday and even late at night, the calls still coming non-stop. The latest I work is till 1am in the morning and even weekend, I still have to work late sometimes.

its not that people want to work at night but they have no choice but to undergo overtime to finished their work specially if it need to be done soon. some want to overtime coz they know they will get paid for it. some choose to work at night coz they have no other option to work during day time specially in call center where most of the time agents work at night they love it coz its bigger in pay die to over night differentials and other benefits. it depends to every person, so if you think you dont like it then you have all the time to get out and choose those daytime work which no need for you to overtime nor work at night. its based on your own choice anyway.

I am used to graveyard shift.Working in a big hospital for many years.Anyway it just how you manage it,if you love your job then I know you will not complained about it. Some working in the offices wants working at night, because in that time no work pressures anymore. After I rest working in the hospital still now I am working graveyard also, doing online work.I just love my work being this way,so I don't need to complained about it.

I think it depends on the person. Some people do as you say, mess around when they're supposed to be working then; realize all the work they haven't done needs to be done, so they work all through the night. Or there are other kinds of people who prefer to work at night. They feel the night atmosphere is a calmer working environment to get all their work done; instead of people flying about the workplace trying to get stuff done and being a distraction. I think I would rather prefer to work at night just for that reason. I am easily distracted by things, so I feel it would be hard for me to work in normal day working conditions.

I have worked nights for the last 2 years as a Scientist because unfortunately thats the time that all the work comes in. I have definitely noticed it starting to take its toll on my body with broken sleep during the day and not being able to get my solid 8 hours each day. If i had the opportunity to do this work during the day I would not pass it up thats for sure.

Hi Sakthimaharai, Personally, I would not like to work late at night. I never have except of course when my son was a baby and I had to be up with him. I think a lot of people like to work a late shift because they want to work a second job. If they are doing this, they often have something they can get done during slow periods on their night job. For example, a teacher might take a second job as a night watchman. Then he can correct papers during slow times on his night job. Some people have to work two jobs to support their family so they have no choice but to work an evening or overnight shift as well as work eight hours during the day.
