I've only been a member on here about 36 hours and I've already had loads of people trying to get me to join other sites as their referral. They send a friend request then as soon as I accept they ask me to click a link and sign up. Do you get pestered by these people? This is more than enough to keep me busy in my limited spare time, I don't want to join countless other sites thanks very much so if you're one of these referral hunters please don't bother me because you will be ignored.

Like Mykl aboce, I don't have this problem either yet I have a heck of a lot of names on my friend list.
Maybe it's my face that intimidates them?

Diana, I almost spit out my coffee at your reply.. I guess that is what I get for reading what you write while drinking coffee at the same time..

You know Autumn, it also be that you are a new member. I have noticed that as time goes by, I don't get them as often. I wonder if diana remembers when she first joined if she got a lot of e-mails to join other sites? I got a few and also got them in comments on my profile which I deleted.

Hello Mysdianait. I must just be a magnet for referral hunters because I've had my fair share in the last day.

That is what I do too Autumn, I ignore the e-mails..Though there was one that looked promising, but I can't, I got too much going on as it is. So, just keep making friends, not everyone will send you spam...

I had received only some this spam messages, but always I ignore them. I guess the best pills to fight them is reporting? But, there is many nice people who do not spam, but is happy to share with ideas, advice in people discussions like me. I would add you too and I promise no spam from me.
P.S. From Diana humor we can't get sick.

Hello Carmelanirel. I haven't even looked at any of them, I've tried a few others in the past but only one at a time. I'll keep adding friends when they request because I'm sure there are a lot of genuine ones on here :)

I think your post is going to get deleted. And where is your site? I don't see anything in your profile. Anyways, I have you added, But I don't think we should compare websites to each other, this would be mean. You are disappointed probably because your activity number is (27) and your earnings are low. But if you are active here then you will love it.

Hello Ensanji. You misunderstood, you failed to read the paragraph under the title. I don't want people to join any sites, I want people to stop asking me to join theres.

I thought the same thing ehsanji..My first thought was, "How long will this discussion last?" Then I read it and realized what it was about..diana is right too, I remember one where the title was so off the wall, that you could tell this one mylotter didn't read it and unfortunately was made the joke of the discussion..Whether they knew it or not, I don't know..

Welcome to myLot!
I went and visited your profile and didn't see you involved with any of the money making interests...so I find it odd that people would seek you out for opportunities. Myself I am involved in those interests and receive a lot of friend requests because of this...I also will request a friend of someone who is looking for opportunities. But, I would never approach just because I see you in a discussion or because you are new. I hope you don't let those people get to you...I love coming in here throughout my online day..it is relaxing and fun. Enjoy your day

i get some of those requests from referral hunters every now and then. i just have a quick read through of the message, but i don't do anything else. i don't mind them sending it to me though. at least those senders can get some typing exercise done

I get this too and I am one of the veteran members. As soon as I get a friend request and accept it, I expect to see them either answering or starting a discussion in the friend section. But no, I get a message saying "here is a list of sites I belong to, where you can make lots of money" or something to that effect.
Now I do get requests to join a site that has something to do with the writing interest such as "are you a member of Helium?: and I expect that because I either responded to or answered a question about writing.
I have not been on the make money site for some time and I am very happy with the sites I have now, myLot being on top, so why should i join a make money site that is bound to become a scam or rots my brain?

Hello Suspenseful. I think one site at a time is enough, if we try to concentrate on too many we don't get involved enough with one and when we get really involved we put more in to it if you get what I'm saying. I do online surveys which earn me money and other rewards but there's no direct contact with people which is why I want to give this site as good a go as I can :)

Hello Buchi_bulla. They might do better i they posted their links on some sites such as Facebook or Twitter then at least people would know them and might join as a favour for a friend. I don't like going through the registering procedure for myself nevermind someone else so they won't have any luck with me :)

I used to get a lot of requests when I first joined, or rather, during my first year. The requests then subsided..from strangers, that is..whom add me randomly and talking to me about their referral programs and everything.
However, nowadays, I don't get that many requests anymore. Must be the hat. LOL..

Hello Zed. I like your hat, it's very stylish. I'm a hat person myself and I have a huge collection of different styles. I could try wearing an outrageous one and that might put them off :)

,HI AutumnGold,
Same here. What that annoys me most is when a new member sends me a friend request, which I readily approve because I understand they have to build his friends list. Then the minute I approve them there comes a private message asking me to join them in some other earning sites. I don't wannna be rude to them, so when I get this I just ignore them.

I did face these problems so I had to change my entire mylot account. I was new to all these so I got carried away in the beginning. Now I have learnt from my mistake so the best thing I do is don't accept anybody's request and at the same time don't send request to anyone. I do my bit of work here and learn a lot from mylot. I am going to stay here for a while.

Hello Ashton. I like it here too. Better luck with your new account, must be a pain having to start again though. I don't accept friends now unless they have been answering my discussions or if I've answered some of theirs because I think we find genuine friends that way :)

OH MY GOODNESS! Yes, as soon as I damn well joined someone wanted to "be my friend" but get annoyed with joining their site. I hate that. Just like getting calls from telemarketers, getting mail saying that I have won something even though I didn't do anything like go in a raffle OR getting junk mail in my emails about giving money to people for God or someone in their family is going to die blah blah blah. HATE IT.

Hi AutumnGold,
Welcome to Mylot. Yes that is a pet-peeve for me also. I feel like asking them and sometimes do...are you here just to look for referrals and is that the only reason why you requested my friendship? Some of them have only been here a short time, have responded to or been on one or none discussions that I've been on and yet as soon as I accept their request I get a PM asking me to check out some site. In my opinion that is just rude. I have been here for a while and there are some members that can do that...we've interacted a while on here. If someone like that sent me something then I would of course check it out. It isn't their sole purpose of being here. I don't just ignore those types, I delete them on my friends list. If you leave them on there...won't be long before you get yet another PM.

Hello Sid and thanks for the nice welcome. I agree with you, if they made an effort to interact and get to know me a bit then I might take the time to look at their sites. Instead they just rudely force it on me. I deleted some "friends" because they sent me more than one message about these sites, one was really pushy. Thanks again for the welcome :)

Well, I so noticed that lately.Albeit, I don't want to ignore a friend's request, I don't entertain invitations joining other sites.I also am a member of some sites but I hardly ask my friends to join under me.
No pun intended for my new friends who happened to pm me for joining their sites but I do treat this with a cold shoulders....

Hello Eurekafemme. I do online surveys on a few sites but I've never pestered people to join them under me. I've neglected those surveys since I joined here because this keeps me busier than I expected :)

Well, it happens everywhere in the internet, so the best thing you can do is to ignore them. I often wonder if some of those users that want to advert their sites so much are real people or just spam bots

Hello Madteaparty. You have a point there, they could be spam bots, you never know. I've ignored every link so far and I intend to keep ignoring them, it's a pain when the same person sends several message, being pushy so I deleted those who did that :)
