at first, durian fruit for me is somewhat odd...because as of what i see and smell it, it doesn't really attract my appetite..but my since my grandfather harvested some of these fruit from his farm..i got really curious about it coz they would tell me that it tastes good despite its awful smell..so i tried eating it. at first it really disgust me because of its odor..but the longer i tasted it, it became sweeter and sweeter every bite..so now since then i'm already fond of eating these fruit..i've been eating it for a week now...
i also found out that durian fruit is a very nutritious fruit but depending on the amount taken..
so what can you say about this???

I haven't tried the fruit, but i have eaten products made from it and its just not to my taste. So I think I will not like eating the fruit. The smell is just too much I think that why I don't like eating it. I like mangosteen better in terms of the real fruit as well as the products.

it really is an 'acquired taste'..where it would take a bit of trying and tasting to find out if you do accept the taste & odor. there are some people who just can't take it
but to me, it's nice & it's delicious......and sometimes does feel a bit like an aphrodisiac

i love durian fruit. funny, at home, the house is totally divided. one time, my mom brought home durian, and all the girls (me, mom, sis-in-law) liked it while all the boys (dad and two brothers) absolutely hated it.

I don't know. Maybe us girls are more tolerant of the smell. The boys just barfed the moment the fruit was opened

same here.the first time i tried it i had to throw it out coz i just couldn't swallow it.it is only after a year when i was offered again that i began liking it.i could even finish the small size which we call "native" in the philippines.this is best eaten when frozen.but this fruit shouldn't also be taken excessively or shouldn't actually be eaten by pregnant women and those who are suffering from high blood pressure.

my grandfather is growing those native ones so that's why we have lots of durian here right now coz it's harvest season...well my grandparents have their high blood pressures but still they eat it..they just don't it excessively and they would sometimes drink their medicines...

I love durians... but I hate it when someone farts or burps after consuming durians... heh heh heh I like my durians cooked/prepared that way too... fermented durians are really delicious!
OH... and how can I forget... DURIAN DODOLS..I can still remember how my family would make them. I'd be eating the half-cooked dodols while my elder aunt is stirring it in the big wok.
TIPS
You can try drinking tap water, with a little salt added, from a durian shell. It is said to prevent heatiness.
To get rid of the smell from your hands, take a durian shell (is it shell or skin) and run tap water from the top part. Place your hand below the shell where water flows down.
Happy eating durian everyone!

Durian is one of my farourite fruit. I didn't enjoy it when I a child. My mum gave me some to try it, but I could hardly take it and walked away. After several time, I accustom to its odour and taste. Now I like it so much that I will buy some durian during each season.
You are right, durian is a nutritious fruits because of its rich nutrients. But we shouldn't over consume it because it might cause fever, especially if we did not drink lot of water after eating the durian.
Happy posting and have a nice day!

Some people don't like the durian because of the bad smell. I didn't like it when I was a little. After I grow up, one day I tried this fruit occasionally, I didn't think it tasted as bad as I thought. So I get used to eat it and then I like it.
I love China

As a proud Dabawenya (a resident of Davao), I love eating the king of all fruits which is Durian. Our city is known for its bounty of Durian. Yes many people outside Davao hates this awesome fruit because they immediately judge its appearance and odor without even tasting it, not a single bite of it. Nowadays, Durian is also available as an ice cream, a candy, a pie and the newest innovation of Durian which is the Durian coffee. I love Durian as much as I love Davao.
