Which one you rather sell? Expensive or cheap item?

Some people focus on selling cheap items online. For example I saw a person sells shower curtain in squidoo. She has like hundreds of page about shower curtain and sell it very well and making money. However, I also found that some people tend to promote expensive items like branded watches. I am not sure about the money though. What do you think, which is better to sell online, expensive item or cheap item?

It depends what value you put on your time. If your time is worth nothing, selling cheap items might work for you. But if you are talking about Ebay Wether you list a cheap item, or an expensive one, the time it takes is the same. And it don't stop there. The killer is to have to pack and post each item. That's the part I hate.

In that case, you should focus on the most popular product, rather than the price of it. Your commission will be more on the expensive one. But if you only sell one a week, it won't help you. It is better to sell 10 cheap one a week. It also come back to how hard you want to work for your money.

Hi salam! I would say something unique and a price to match would be a good selling point online. The other thing is quality. One example I can provide here is an 'ikat' or a handweave cloth which offers as a good collector's item as well.

still trying to find a 'correct' product to sell. i have several sites that promote several type of kitchen gadget but i cannot sell this product well. less than 10 items per month, so i am not very happy. yours is a good idea, i believe that 'ikat' is a good niche product. btw i have no product of my own, i sell amazon's product in my sites..

Expensive items are difficult to sell. I think people are concerned about their finances and are being careful about how much they spend. I personally prefer to buy something that is unique and made well. I hate having the same item that other folks have.

Do you think it is a great idea to promote kitchen items? I think housewife always buy kitchen items such as salad spinner, peeler etc online. What do you think?

Hello. Its depends on the items quality. For me, I only want to sell high quality products to my customers because I want to preserve my good name. I will try to give the highest quality at the lowest price possible. It's because the price will depend on labor fee, raw materials and etc. A cheap but high quality item is what I will choose to sell. :)

i think that selling cheap items is the better option. many people buy online to get the cheapest deal available. while we should also be aware of quality, it's also important to read the feedback regarding the seller. and of course, we should also compare like products.

Selling Cheap items for high is a good idea... thats how all budiness run... try that. Try to sell things which's supply is less and demand is high.

I prefer to sell less expensive products because not many people want to spend crazy money to buy something. And I don't want my money can't cycle due to the expensive products are too difficult to sell. I love China

I would like to sell an item that i liked. it would be easier to talk about it and sell it. I would sound very enthusiastic to the person or people i was telling it about, and i'm sure they would want it. i think ebay would be a good place for you to sell any item. it can be something you want to sell which you have or don't want anymore. if it is used i wouldn't charge as much for the item. if it were rather new, i would charge more of a price for it.

bettere try both dont you think ? some poeple enjoy buying what they can offer without thinking about the imoportance of the item.. and some are thiere who wants to buy what they want without thinkg about the price.. if the item is expensive you can earn loads as the profit.. but if the item is cheap you will have to sell more than one to get an actual profit...

I think that people are seeking cheap things more. But to get something cheap for selling is very hard, because there are lot of sellers which offer the same things and everyone of them try to sell his item for lower cost than others. So from this standpoint maybe it is more better to sell some expensive things, because there are people who are looking for some exclusive brands and the item price for them isn't important.

I think something unique at a price they can afford. I know that I am having trouble putting a price tag on the things I am trying to sell. I make dough ornaments that I paint, mosaic ornaments, bath salts and soap, and felt ornaments. I have started making these things already, but I am not sure what prices to go with yet. The items are not expensive to make, but it can be time consuming. With the bad economy I think selling cheap is the way to go.

My first preferance is quality then comes the cost.. As the things which I want to sell should last long and popularise my site. Will surely increase my selling..

I agree with your point that we should sell product that would last like forever. like if I sell LCD TV in my sites then very soon this kind of TV will obsolete. people would look for LED TV. so, maybe selling coffee maker in website is a good idea because people would drink coffee for the next 100 years or more and certainly would need coffee maker..
