I Just Got Scammed For The First Time!

I'm frustrated. Of course, the one time I DON'T research a site and sign up for it just because someone recommended it on here, I get scammed. The good thing is t hat I didn't waste any money, just about a few minutes of my time, but I'm annoyed that I got fooled so easily. I actually looked it up right after I joined and realized it was a scam before I even clicked the emailed activation link. And I'm even more mad because it's a known scam site--surfwithmoney.com! Damn scams. I should have guessed. I should have researched!
What was the first scam site you joined? What did you lose when you realized it was a scam?

I have been scamed a number of times! I luckily never invested in the sites but it bothers me I was scamed out of time! I was on a few sites that just took the money of other people and ran with it! They then disappeared! I was on sites that said they paid out big and you didn't have to upgrade to get your money! Wrong! Now I have been scammed by Nomincashout! I joined the site because I kept hearing it was a paying site! I have been only on sites that pay! I reached payout over 2 months ago and never got my payout! I am pissed! I didn't invest in any money in this site but I wasted time which I could of used on Mylot or other legit sites! I know how you feel!

If you read it here? who posted those sites? Maybe we can interrogate him/her.

Yes, it was from here. Interrogation isn't necessary. It was an honest mistake. I doubt he or she knew it was a scam because they noted they were new to the site. Thanks for trying to make me feel better though. I appreciate it

I cannot even remember the first scam we got involved with. It is annoying and we have learned a lot in the last ten years. I still get suckered in occasionally, though. You would think I would learn.

I am nearly to my second payout, so we will see if it still pays. They sent out a message that as more and more people were reaching payout it was taking them longer to process. I will see if I can find the discussion, but no one has said they have not been paid. It is a pretty new site, and I think they used to pay one way and now it is only PayPal. I hope that they are able to get the bugs ironed out and be as reliable as MyLot. I will also say that some things that I may lump in as scams are not necessarily that so much as I am just not willing to do what it takes to succeed. The next guy might be.

Hi, Heather! All scams are different, so I guess it makes sense to STILL get sucked in.
And oh, I was meaning to ask you. I saw your post on Gather about SideTick. Someone created a discussion today about it's legitimacy. I used your post as a reference that it DOES pay. Does it still pay? You can check out the discussion in the making extra money category on here.

I hope you get your second payment, Heather! Do tell us if you do! I haven't signed up for it and I don't plan on it. I have way too many sites as of now to deal with.

Sorry, Stephani, yeah I always research a site before signing up, but the problem is, when you find one that is brand new and no one knows it is a scam yet..Though some wouldn't think Yuwie is a scam, (Is that even around anymore?) I felt it was because their payout was too high, I think it was $25.00 and it took people visiting your site that made you money..Problem is, it was like Myspace and when people had many videos and other things on their profile, it would freeze up my computer..Plus, it was hard to get people to visit your profile, so I quit..

Yuwie may not be a scam, but it wasn't worth my time and energy to continue there..I wasn't making true friends and not getting paid, a waste for me..

Arlene (workingmom50) says Yuwie isn't a scam, but I haven't tried it myself. I think sidetick has the same payout minimum. Oh well. I hate when sites freeze up my computer too!
I usually research before I sign up, but I was too tired last night and of course, I get scammed. Go figure!

Readbud and Gagabux. Hehehe. I think almost everyone here are members of atleast one of those sites.. With Gagabux, I already got a hunch when I got to the site and realized that they would pay me for reading articles, I mean it was soooo easy.. so I left. With Gagabux, it was more heartbreaking, because I kept on hoping that they would pay, because they have paid a lot of people, but weeks turned into months, and now they totally changed their rules.. SCAM! Oh well, it's a trial and error world, so I guess I'll just take it as a lesson in my online money making journey.

Now I keep thinking that I should have followed my instincts, and the basic rule in online earning.. if it's too easy and they pay you big money, then it must be a scam! LOL.

Agreed. Actually, the site that fooled me seemed fishy because you got paid little for doing a lot. 240 sites you had to surf to earn .35 cents. Even if it was low, it was hard to suspect, because usually scams offer you big bucks.

I 5hink those were the biggest websites people fell for too. I joined Readbud and kept seeing how it might be s cam, so I started getting suspicious and stopped using it. I was lucky enough to never sign up for gagabux.

Lucky i have never joined a scam site, but i am a very wary beaver myself, always researching, and also if the layout of the site doesn't seem professional, i tend not to go for it. To be honest, the only 2 sites i am still not so sure about are neobux, and mylot, and by the recommendations by everyone etc, i assume they are pretty ok, ive not found any info regarding them being scam sites

@ fmsninja, Welcome to myLot, I can assure you this site is not a scam. You need to do nothing to receive your money except to hit payout by the last day of the month, midnight myLot time and then you see the money deposited into your paypal account the 15th of the following month. (Usually sooner though) You know it's payday here as the myLot Logo turns green. Have fun here.

@wilsonbeca: eanie has given you some good advice! If you want to read up on even more and get better familiarized with how myLot works, you can view the Frequently Asked Questions and the discussion guidelines. They are very helfpul.
The discussion guidelines can be found here: http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx (NOT A REFERRAL LINK)
And the Frequently Asked Questions can be found here: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq.aspx (NOT A REFERRAL LINK)
And if you ever need to find them again, you can find everything you need about myLot at the top of any page, under the drop down menu titled 'myLot.' Right in between 'earnings' and 'fun stuff.' Good luck!

StephanieAnnC,
I cannot stress the importance of safe habits on the internet where even legitimate websites can be hacked and inserted with malwares, keyloggers and viruses for the next unprotected surfer to pick up, what's more for a scam website.
I just do not and could not even want to bother with these seemingly convincing get rich programs because I find there are more worthwhile and worthy sites for us. So, till now I am glad that I have yet to be scammed.
Have a nice day.

Readbud.com is the first scam site I joined. No I did not reach the payout but before I did my friend did and too bad she did not get her earnings. Readbud refused and instead told her she rated the articles too fast. My friend warned me so I stop in that site and I am warning also those who are still wasting time in this site. Readbud.com is a big scam so don't you keep on wasting time with them.

Hi StephanieAnnC,
I fully understand your feeling, but I would like to say you are still lucky as it just wasted you a few minute and you did not lose anything. When we got scammed, we always complainted that " We should have bla bla bla". LOL
Sometimes we can not figure out why we would make such fooled mistake that would not happen if we think it a little bit..
I have the scammed experience, but it is much worse than yours as I lost over thousand RBM. As you know, QQ is very popular chatting tool and the administrative advised that I won the second price for 10 thousand plus a lap top. When I got the message, I am happy to key in my personal information on the set website to wait the prize call. They induced me to fall into their trap step by step. They required for the tax money first before I got the prize, I transfer the money to their account. Once I did it, I feel great regret for that as I sense that it was a scam. I just think that I might be controlled by others, otherwise I would not do that stupic things. I should browse the internet to verify the news; I have heard a lot such of scams; I should have talked to my colleage a little bit before I proceed further. But I did not do that. That was really a great lesson for me.

Hi Stephanie,
I almost lost 5 thousand RMB, but it is lucky that I do have much deposit that time that stop me from sending more. Surely I would not make that mistake again. People always said that it would be a fool that we fall into the same river twice. I would learn from this lession.
I always received the e-mail such as " Can I pay you $XX dollars by paypal?" I would not open such e-mail and delete it directly as I believe no free lunch available.

Whoosh, I have been luck SO far... I have not had the opportunity of being on a scam site yet!! Not to say any of the ones I am on won't eventually turn scam. As you see aside from the sites that intentionally start out with the intent to scam, there is always the possibility of a site owner not able to keep up with paying members and well shut down and be consider scam so it is possible.
Sorry to hear of your experience but it is inevitable that all will have this once or twice while earning online.

Oh! Sorry for that matter. However, as you mentioned, you have not wasted any money on it. In short, you were not scammed....I think, we need to clear this issue out because we always call or term a NOT PAYING SITE as SCAM. When in fact, it should not be because we have not cashed out any money for the membership. Although, we were fooled because we wasted effort and time to it, only to find out that said site will not actually pay us for that effort made.
Anyhow, good thing you have realized that it is a scam site before you have seriously gave all your efforts on it.
As for me, I have joined A.W.Surveys. I was then too curious on online paying sites and was convinced to join. I was in that site I think for more than 4 months doing the surveys and convincing others to join under me. After all that effort, I was notified not to receive the payout providing me reasons and not a specific reason. Since then, I was very keen on sites I need to sign up for. I even do a research before joining. At least, for that mistake, I have learned my lesson.
What I am thankful for though is that, I did not pay any thing to be registered on that site. So, no too much hurt feelings involved.
