Hello nice people of mylot,
I have been busy trying to design my website, and I hit a block and would like to ask for opinion as my background of the template is grey, I hope to design a simple logo to suit the website, However I could not make up my mind.
Would you be able to give me some suggestions.
Which color do you think is more suitable for my background color?

It would depend on your entire theme, go and aim for professionalism as people do not take too many vibrant colors seriously.
So if you go with gray make sure the other colored themes do not overpower the gray.

I like the strong burgundy. Take a look at my profile where I have crowngpt. I love that website it is so professional looking. In fact when I get my chance to build my website that is the type of color I would like to use.

For me the web sites that are overloaded with text and have striking colors are not very attractive. I like the green with shades and very simple texts that are short but informative.
I think now you got so many opinions that you are more confused than before.

Well it would be for my logo, which I intend to make it simple, just some text. Some of the most recognizable brands, like coke cola, IBM, facebook, myspace are simple text. Look at mylot too. It is made up of some simple letter with strong colors. However I am not as big as them so I think I would be slightly more creative.

I prefer the green one. Yellow is sometimes too striking. It creates a "warning" message on the human eye. Orange on the other hand can be versatile, but if you end up choosing the wrong shade of orange, your website might look like distracting in the eye. So I stay with green ,whatever shade of green you choose, you will still end up okey, not too striking but still entertaining and attractive to the eye.

I think that you might be able to make a good chioce from checking out the color schemes on microsoft word. There are a lot of colors on there that are used together in a way that is supposed to be appealing to the eye. I personally like the gray with blue lettering but it would also depend on the type of website you are creating.

Depends on what kind of website you are going to do. Like if it's for kids, should be colorful, if for business, it should be more formal, technology, should be a bit futuristic like silver. What is your theme?

That's simple, WHITE. Or something like the color of sand. Can also be mint green. It should be something relaxing to look, so the viewers can actually 'feel' the contents of your website virtually.

I guess alot depends on the shade of grey in your blog, as well as size and shape of your logo?? Because different sizes of things, brings about different feeling to the color application.. hehe ^_^
For me, green will be a nice color though, such as leaf green, or really light lime green.. haha =D Red can be an option too, if u dun mind it being too bright.. haha =D

I love green because it symbolizes life. Whenever I design something like blogs and website I always include green color. I love to see green things. Maybe another reason I am a nature lover so it means alot for me as human being. We have different opinion in figuring things so it also matters on what color you like not from other, if you want gray go for it.

I think grey is a very good chose of color for the background. I love pink and grey but really grey goes with everything. How about green? With green you can use like a neon green for the headlines and forest green for the writing and so forth. Blue is also a nice color but I think it is too close to grey to be a good chose.

I wouldn’t go for anything too bright for the text; I would stick to plain black. In regards to the background colour it is difficult to decide without any idea what the site will be about. If the colours in your illustration are the choices I would choose green I guess but I would really need to take a look to decide.

have you ever been to Yahoo's website? By default, you see the background is sort of a silver color with black, orange, yellow fonts and font style they keep are arial, and Tahoma in size 10 or 8. This looks so cool on any website. Or you can go to Facebook.com and see the background, which is mostly white, with sky blue colors on. The upper side and left and right sides of the page. Or you can go to CNN.com and have an idea from their web-page. Now CNN.com uses mostly red colors with fonts arial 10 or 8 bold. Or you can go to BBC.com and have an idea by looking at their webpage. They mostly use Verdana with some cool background colors such as navy blue and golden colors. The reason why I'm suggesting to go to does websites is because they are some big companies and they surely have great web designers. Good luck!

Sweetie, you have to be very careful using colors on webpages.
Keep it simple and easy to read.
If you have a light grey background, go for black.
Don't use yellow or blue it is very hard on the eyes.
I know you want to make the best of your webpage, but you have to think of the people who will read and look at your webpage.
Hope that helped.
TATA.

My main issue is I am not a good programmer so try to leave the template as it is and change what I would be able to. I thought the colors are nice and bright and hopefully remain people of cheerful and happy things.
Yes that is why I am asking people for their opinion, and I hope you all would give me the support when it is done too.

So far the selection is between the green and the orange, I personally prefer the orange too, as it is one of the color I like better, Those have seen my website think orange is more suitable. however just on the background and color then think green is good.

I agree with the one above, maybe it would help if we could see the overall look of your site and its theme as well. It will help in choosing the right color for the background.
But at the onset, from the image you have provided, green would be a good choice because 1) it's cool on the eyes and 2)it's not a "screaming" color as compared to yellow, if you know what I mean. Is the background you used the same one you'll be using on your site? If you could opt for a lighter shade of orange, that would seem okay as well. Good luck on the design and hope to see how your site would look like.

moonchild117,
thanks for your insight, before I introduce my site to the world, I guess I would try to engage you again to see what you think of the site.
I think green is good too, my research on colors, green is easy on the eyes, orange is energy and yellow is happy. That is why I trying to figure between these three colors.

Web hosting and design (abitosunshine) is one of my business ventures, so I would be happy to assist you. Though, without more specific information it is a bit difficult to offer suggestions. Basically, consider your target audience and make your web home feel exactly like your home, you want your guests to be comfortable. As for a logo, it needs to be eye catchy but not obtrusive. It should also be one that can readily be used in small and large versions, as your website logo is like your business card ... visually, people with associate you and your website with your logo.
