Do you have a chair or couch in your bedroom?

Well I was thinking and talking to my husband when this thought popped into my head. I remember when I was in Middle or High School I had a chair in my bedroom, it was one that no one really sat in in the living room. I believe it got in there because well A. Of course I wanted it in there and B. My aunt came by one day while I was at school and cleaned and arranged my bedroom. I have no idea why she did this, I can't remember to be quite honest. I know my bedroom was a mess, and it was pretty cool to come home to such a clean and rearranged room. Further back there was a plastic chair you usually see out on the back patio or deck in mine and my sister's room. Now somewhere inbetween there or further back my uncle or brother or both had a old couch, I think it might've been a carseat, I forget, in their room. My inlaws have a chair (our chair actually) in their room. We don't have room for one in ours, but we were talking about putting a love seat in our bedroom when we get our own place. So do you have a chair, couch or love seat in your bedroom?

Oh okay I see, so that's why the apartments are one room, but a big room I would presume?

Are apt used to be a motel and then they went to renting them as apts. We have what you call a triple (Used to have three beds in room) therefore it's one large room wide open. Thanks for responding back to me. Snow

Hi SomeCowGirl, When I had the larger bedroom I had a leather reclining chair in the bedroom as there was space where I would sit and read before getting into bed as was more comfortable but that is now downstairs as my son has the larger room now because he has so many toys. I just have a stool in my room now where I can sit to do my hair and make up in front of the dressing table. A love seat sounds delightful. Huggles Ellie :D

I go for leather because I find it easier to clean with kids and animals in the house :)

Oh that reclining chair sounds just wonderful for reading. I do like to sit in recliner's to read as I find them more comfortable. The leather part I'm not so fond of as when it's hot it will stick to me. Leather or pleather also seems to get worn much faster for some reason. We've got an old stool around here used to sit in front of an old makeup table I remember watching my grandmother when I was younger do her makeup, and clean under her fingernails with a white pencil. Ah the memories we think of!

I would have room for one if I didn't have the computer desk and the chest next to each other. As it is, I have the desk with a desk chair, and the chest which is one of those window chests that you can sit on.

Hi SCG!! Our house don't have the typical rooms that have walls and doors in it. A chair? when it gets lost it sometimes goes in our bedroom. OUr bedroom is just sliced using a divider. I've always wanted to have a room of my own. I miss it much when I was staying in a boarding house because I get to have the room all by myself.

So it's sectioned off by a half partition wall? Hmm that would be odd for me, I have to have quiet and so when the t.v. is on in another room, I'd want to have the door shut. How do you sleep during the day I wonder?

Yeah it is. NO wall at all. Yeah it's hard sometimes especially when my nephew is making his tantrums. Most of the time I'm really exhausted so I don't hear anything. As long as theirs an electric fan on am fine with it. "_"

At first I didn't read this properly and thought you asked whether there was a chair in my bathroom! I was thinking, noo....but would be a good idea! Anyway, back to the bedroom, I don't have a couch or sofa in there, there isn't even a chair, but usually I would have a chair to go with my writing desk that's in there. And of course it doubles up as a place where I can just dump my clothes!

Bellapop, A chair in the bathroom would be nice We'd have to put ours in the bathtub, and couldn't too wide or it wouldn't fit! Our clothes go behind our door, we don't have room to fit a chair, I suppose if we got rid of the night stand we could put a chair beside the bed, but then it'd just get in the way.

I have a desk with a chair in my bedroom, too. You can't usually sit on it though. I've got a lot of clothes piled on it just like you.

No, right now there is not a chair in our bedroom, but considering we have been renting out rooms in our house and considering renting out the room I consider my office there will be a chair in there then due to having my Computer and such in there as well. I know many people who have chairs in their bedroom for guests to sit, and sometimes just for them and their husband to sit on and have some alone time together as well.

Yes a chair would be a nice little addition to the room. I remember having one as I said in the discussion growing up. My situation has changed since I posted this discussion however, and still no chairs in the room I am now in. Of course there's no room for it either.

We used to have a few chairs in the bedroom but we moved the chairs to the living room. I am thinking about moving our futon couch up to the room because my boyfriend has a television and his old video games are hooked up to it. So I think the futon would be nice to sit on instead of sitting on the floor.

Wow it sounds like you have a nice sized bedroom then. Yeah I think a futon would be great, you can sit on it not only to watch t.v. but also play video games and take a quick snooze too! I've actually thought of getting a futon couch myself to sleep on as the bed I sleep on now isn't very comfortable.

Hi SomeCowgirl, I have an adjustable reclining chair in my bedroom. It's really comfortable to sit on it with both arm and leg rests are available. It's ventilated and I like have my sweet nap in the afternoon during scorcher In our tropical region people like to keep one or two in their house for it's cool and more comfortable to rest on it than to sleep on the mattress pad. Besides I like to read book or watch tv sitting on it Happy posting

That does sound like a very comfortable chair. My great grandmother had a chair that kicked you out of it and it was so comfortable. You could recline in it but it would also move slanting down so that if you needed to get out of it but had trouble doing so you could with ease. It's still there but the kick out function doesn't work. Leather or Pleather is not a good material for summer!

I had my kid's crib made into a bench. When I redo my bedroom this spring that bench will be in my bedroom...I am painting it with flowers on it...and the name of everyone that slept in the crib will be on the bench...My brother, sisters and I also slept in it....so it's over 65 years old!

Oh wow that is such a lovely story. A piece of furnitere that has lasted over the years and was able to be transformed into something new. I have an old toybox of mine, there were two but I only had room enough to put one. I wish I could have kept both. In any case I plan to keep it as sturdy and nice as possible and use it for my children as well.

Hi. SomeCowgirl. I don't have a chair or a couch into my bedroom. I would not be able to fit one of these type of furniture into my bedroom anyhow. I don't have that much of space at all. I have sat on a kitchen chair when I was in my bedroom watching television. I enjoyed the support to my back and I did not fall asleep so easily then.

I've moved since I've made this discussion. I live back at home and the room that I sleep in is so packed with a lot of stuff. I couldn't fit anything else in there if I wanted to, but I do have a childhood toy box I could sit on if I ever cleared it off. It'd be about the same as your chair, I wouldn't be able to sleep even if I tried.

Using a chair to sit in whilst studying always made me sleepy. When I had to study or do homework I sat on the floor or at the kitchen table. Most of the time whilst in school i would do my homework in the cafeteria before so I didn't have to the night before the next night.

That sounds to me to be like a studio apartment. The only thing you did not mention was the kitchen, so I am guessing it is just a very big room. I wish our rooms here were that big, we do have big rooms in homes but the homes are very expensive and our clutter ends up making the room look small again.

I have had a couch and a chair in my bedroom before, but when I moved into an apartment after my split with my daughters husband it wasn't big enough anymore for that stuff. Lol... I miss all the room, but I'm happier now in general. =)

I have so much stuff and I have thought of moving it into very little space before. I was looking at studio apartments and woo I'd be living in junk. I'm a packrat, couldn't get rid of anything if I tried.

in our bedroom, yes actually we do have this 3 seater chair for resting, when you do not want to lie down and watch tv we just sit in here. we do not have a huge place actually so we just go ahead and sometimes stay in the bedroom - my mom brothers and me and talk there while watching tv. hehe

In your personal bedroom you have this? It intrigues me as you said "our" and them mention your mom and sibilings.

My bedroom has a very small bed (with a pop-up trundle under it when it needs to be bigger) and a very large drafting table with a very comfortable posture chair that I sit in when I am drawing or painting. I have very specific areas for the things I do, and hardly ever do anything in bed but sleeping (no TV for example) and nothing at my drawing table but art, and nothing in the kitchen but food (and edible plants!) and so on. Each piece of furniture is specific to the task that is done on or near it.

I can understand having the specific furniture you need and use in each room, it's better then having furniture you don't use and that just takes up space. Our bedroom is the second largest, but it's rather small for us. We have enough room to get around, but not enough space to put more then a dresser, bed, night stand, two small bookshelves, and a t.v. stand in.

A chair in the bedroom is useful and helps you reserve the bed only for sleeping. At the present I have a folding chair so I can sit at my computer comfortably. I used to just sit on the edge of the bed but it gave me back pain.

Having to keep comfortable or try to by using the bed as a seat for using the computer seems like it would be a hassle. I wouldn't be able to keep my posture, even on the bed now when watching t.v. I twitch and turn every which way just to get comfortable.

Egyptian funery instruments - Wall cabinet
We have none of these in our bedroom, as a built in wardrobe takes up a lot of the space. If we take out the wardrobe, we would consider it. I've removed the wardrobe from one room, and redecorated it as a study.

Yes you definitely want to be able to move around in the room, so it's better to not over crowd it so much if ya can't fit it.

Yes I have my spinning chair or whatever you call them. It's next to my desk. I go crazy on it sometimes and go full speed into the wall with it :D
