Hi,
I do give ice-cream for my son especially during
hot season and provided he is not coughing at that point of time.
Normally,during raining season, I won't offer ice-cream to
my son as the weather is too cold for ice-cream.
However, I never give ice-cream to him everyday, once a while and when
he remember, then he will ask for it.
Sometimes, for being a good boy, I will reward him with an ice-cream,
to make him happy.
Eating too much ice-cream is not good....easily get cough.
Therefore,avoid eating too much ice-cream.
For I myself, I don't like vanilla and chocolate ice-cream.I prefer
ice cream with mint taste..it is more refreshing.
I do hear from my friend that ice-cream can cure sore throat..at least the
throat will feel better eating ice-cream. I am not sure how true it is as I never
try it before.

Hi,
I do give my son eat ice-cream,but not in a big quantity.
I will only give him about 2 small spoons, sometimes, I will put the ice
cream with bread(make it like sandwiches) and he loves it.
I do heard that it is good to eat ice-cream when having a sore throat, not sure
how true it is.I never try it before.
As long as we are giving the right portion,it should be fine for kid to have an ice
cream.

I don't think it is good for children to eat, but that doesn't mean I don't give it to my kids. I think there are far better ways to get their dairy.

Ice cream is nothing but fat and sugar. It has a tiny amount of calcium, but that's not enough of a health benefit to count.
That doesn't mean you shouldn't let them have it. On the contrary: life is not about eating solely healthy things. Teaching your children that eating fatty, sweet foods in moderation develops habits that will make them both happy and healthy.
Substituting fake, low-calorie low-fat Ice- Cream substitutes teaches exactly the wrong lesson, and develops bad habits. (It also encourages their complaining, if you're just giving it to them to shut them up.)
Introduce your kids to a wide variety of dessert foods, including fruit. Let them know that ice cream is something they can use as an occasional treat, but it's not something to eat every day. It will never be a part of their nutrition, but it can be part of a healthy lifestyle.
