How Much of Our Good Fortune Should We Share With the Less Fortunate?

One of the characteristics that make us human beings is our propensity to share with each other. Most of us tend to share the little we have. But most of us are not rich and we can only share the little we have. On the other hand, people that are rich have more to share. Many do for their own reasons. Some argue that what many rich do share is equivalent to the scraps off their table. After all, If you have assets valued for example over 100 billion and you donate 1 million to the poor, which of course earns you the social benevolent title in today's society of philanthropist excepsionalle, many argue you will not feel it at all and so you really have not shared much. What should a billionaire share? What should you share? Is it right for us to judge?

It is not rightful to judge any individuals as to what kind of things and how much that person gives, what is important you want to help other people who are in needs and willing to share whatever you have. I remember when my place was hit by flood and I was one of the victim yet someone knock on my door and ask for clothes so i share what left on my closet that can still be of used and thankful that i am still blessed. And i have a question do we share even if we have less?

Hi, thanks for the response, as you pointed out, what we share and if we share is a matter of personal choice. Organized religions teach that 10 percent "tithe" is what the higher power asks. Others dispute this. What we have and what is valuable to us is personal. So if you want have a lot and share nothing and have a little and share all, the choice is yours.

We as humans DON'T have right to judge.. ONLY GOD can judge. It doesn't matter of how much we can share BUT from the heart that we are willing to do it. You can share on what u can, yes most people been poor but been blessed in some other ways that can a rich people don't have it.

I agree. What matters most is your intention and if you're giving from your heart.

I don't think that any of us has the right to judge what another give's. Each person has a different comfort level on what is exceptable for them to give. A billionaire giving a million or a middle class person giving the change from his pocket, to me those would be the same equivelance. I also believe that what you give should be given freely, with a good heart not because you feel obligated.

Personally, I don't think we have the right to judge how much a person gives to charity. The amount of the donation isn't what's important, it's the intention of wanting to help other people. So long as you share because you want to help, it wouldn't matter if you're a billionaire giving a cent of your fortune or a less fortunate giving everything you have.
