How do you keep cool during the summer heat?

We don't open the windows, just the doors if there's a cool breeze. Keep our a/c on energy saver mode... though my hubby loves to have it blasting cold 24/7 if he could. I keep a pitcher of water in the fridge so that's always colder than tap. And of course we have a lil above ground pool we swim in the evenings in... though the skeeters lately have made it quite impossible to want to spend anytime out doors. But I do try to get everyone outside before lunch & the humidity kicks in to wear themselves out a bit too!

I use an airconditioner as well, and I also drink a lot of cold drinks, and take hot showers. I know it sounds strange to take hot showers when it is hot, but it really cools you down afterwards!

I would of never thought about a hot shower cooling you down?!?! But I suppose if you walk out of the shower into an air conditioned room that would certainly feel chilly!

If it's a weekend, we go to San Francisco or Lake Tahoe, or swim. Otherwise, air conditioning....

Hi, 3SnuggleBunnies. We usually will eat more salads. I keep the air on up until 7 pm. I also, have the fan on when we are sleeping at night. We drink plenty of cold water. And we all stay indoors when it is very cold outside. We don't stay outside when the weather is very hot either.

We were blessed to get central air in our house when we first bought it. I actually won a local contest that's prize was a new central heating and air system for our home. In addition to keeping the temperture in the house at a comfortable level, we also love to visit the swimming pool and enjoy the cool water there. We also keep plenty of cold drinks in our fridge. Finally, we will think cool by drawing pictures of snowmen, and watching Christmas movies during the hottest days of the summer.

when the El Nino striked few months ago. we used the air con daily. the temperature was like 33 degrees celsius or bit more . it was really hot. i was perspiring a lot. and that really dried the water reserve in the dam that affected the water supply of the country. only recently we recovered from water shortage when it started to rain more frequently now.
anyways, when it is not that hot i don't use AirCon at all . i just use standard electric fan. we rarely use air con only during extreme hot condition. now it is all over i just try drink cold water when i feel hot though it is not as when there was El Nino or sort of Heat Wave. i just love drinking plain cold water during hot days. and i take bath again at night. we don't have swimming pool so just need to take a bath again.

We have the A/C blowing 24/7 at around 78 degrees, which is nice to me. I drink a lot of water when I work outside, I hate getting dehydrated.

I .keep the windows open and I keep a pitcher of water in the fridge too. Unfortunately we don't have air conditioner, I think that if we did. I'd be wearing sweaters around the house, my husband likes really cold homes too.

Hi there,
We are residing in the gulf which is known to be the hottest place in the globe during summer time. We can't live without switching on the airconditioned 24 hours a day and of course i don't miss filling all the bottles with drinking water and so with the ice maker inside the fridge. Me and my son wouldn't go out of the house during daytime except in the evenings when my husband can drive us out for a dinner or do some shopping during weekends. This time, I mean August is the hottest and humidity is terrible that we have to bear until at least till next month, we always look forward to the ber months which is very near so we can enjoy outdoor activities. Good Day!

Thankfully, I have a really good A/C in my house. I do have to be out in the heat to work sometimes, but I avoid going out in the heat as much as possible. I hate Summer. I am really looking forward to Fall and Winter...

Yesterday was actually pretty nice here and we turned off the air conditioner and opened all the windows. Now today it's hot and sticky again so the air is back on. We keep our air on 78 degrees so we don't make it too cold, just cool enough to keep it comfortable. We also have a small plastic kiddie pool outside that I'll use no matter whose looking. Hey, I want to keep cool too.

We use the air conditioner rather like your husband but only for an hour or so when the temperature is at its peak.Later we switch it off and close the curtains while having the fan on.This keeps the room cool for a few hours each afternoon.I repeat the same process before going to sleep. We keep plenty of water in the refrigerator and fruits like mango as we have a tree.We also stock up on ice cream. The children go for a swim everyday.

You can wet a hand towel and keep it in fridge for an hour.
When you feel hot, you can simply take it out and put it on you forehead. It alleviates the burning sensation away.
