Big Gifts

What is the biggest gift you've ever gotten? More along the lines of how much it costs, than the actual size, although I think that would be interesting too. So what is the most expensive gift you've ever gotten, but also the biggest gift, as in size? I want to make clear that I know the best gifts are simple and that spending money doesn't make a gift special. However, for the purpose of this discussion, those are my questions. I got a very nice gift Saturday, and I almost didn't want to say anything because I know how everyone is struggling, and I didn't want to sound, I don't know, like I was bragging? If you know me, you know how much I've been struggling myself. But anyway, this is also a blessing, and we're supposed to share that too, right? Well, my TV quit the other day, just died. It had been given to me, so it was pretty old. It would turn itself off, and the screen was totally pink. Well, someone I know found out about that, and they delivered a brand new TV to me Saturday. A HD, 42 inch, LCD flat screen TV. It's really amazing. I've never had anything so nice. I realize a lot of people have bigger TVs than that, but that isn't the point. It was such a surprise, and a really cool thing to have. I had been pretty down, and although a new TV doesn't solve my problems, it certainly brightened my day. And I'm very thankful for that. So guys, what about those first couple questions?

WHen I was getting a divorce, my ex husband brought home a 1974 Mustang....my dream car. He thought if he gave me the car I would not get a divorce. I did get to take it with me after we split. But that's the biggest thing....even my diamond was a little bitty thing...which I had to make the payment on.

I'm sure you would rather have preferred your marriage work out to the car, but it's pretty cool you got the car.

Oh wow, that is a hard question Ambie..I guess in size and price if you really think about it would be a car we got from my husband's dad many years ago. He had given it to us his used car because ours broke down and since it was close to Christmas, that was his gift to us.

A gift like that, it's almost like a person could pick out something not so pretty, but it would still seem pretty just because they picked it out with the sweetest of intentions.

what a wonderful person to do that to you. Remember the giver receives pleasure too not just the receiver. I have received many gifts from the owners of the Villa where I work part time. I received a four poster bed that I adore and a huge square coffee table and side tables to match. These were gifts at Christmas etc. A few years ago they also gave a me a tv for my bedroom. They are wonderful people and of course I work extra hard to look after their guests'needs. enjoy your well deserved gift my friend.enjoy

That's so great. I don't see what you do, but just reading your modest assessment of your own actions, I can tell you deserve every gift you receive.

not sure if this qualifies, but I was sent to Hawaii w/my mother by my boyfriend for Mother's Day. It was awesome, loved every minute of it. He stayed home and took care of our kids while I got to sunbathe and shop w/my mother! Totally relaxed and had a great time!

I got a laptop once, and I think that must be the most expensive thing I ever got. It was also the thing I was most happy about, because I had really wanted a laptop for such a long time already, and the one I got was perfect! It wasn't so big size-wise though, hehe!

The biggest gift I've ever received was a new car. My husband bought it for me 4 yrs. ago on my birthday. He wrote a check and it was a done deal! Always wanted an suv and got one. Love this car and since it still has low mileage on it, will keep it hopefully for another couple of years.

hi ambiepam we had been married for a little over a year,I had a 9 month old son and another baby on the way, and we were living in a rental house when my dad told us he had put a large down payment on a house for us as where were had a back yard that abutted an irrigation canal. there some children lure our new puppy through a hole in the f ence , threww him in the canal just for fun, and though my next door neighor and myself got him out of the water, he was already drowned.I w as bro ken hearted, I loved my pure breed doxie Lucky. So my dad gave me the deed to the house, we had small monthly payments as it had had a big down payment on it. my very own first house. I think that was the best house of all, had two after that but nothing could beat that first house. This from a man who had vowed he hated my husband and was furious with me, hah.

Oh Hatley, now I can't get that poor dog out of my head! That's so sad. I bet it was exciting, the first night you spent in your brand new home.

Easy. That would be a trip. One year, I said to my husband, "Instead of buying each other a Christmas gift, let's go on a trip, instead." So, we went away for Christmas, for week, with my sister and her husband, to Florida. We did that another year, too. We took a cruise to Alaska, that including some time in Seattle and Vancouver. We took that trip in June but that was our gift to each other. Besides that, I would say my engagement ring.

I got a laptop for Christmas and that was 2 years ago. Since this post is about the biggest gift, when I was a child i receive a walking doll as a Christmas present from my aunt in Canada, back then it was the biggest since it's as tall as me. now that I'm a grown-up , so far the most biggest is my three-door wardrobe closet/cabinet!! Its made of fine wood and very heavy , there were 5 people carrying it when they delivered the thin at my place!

The biggest gift doesn't have to refer to size only. My beiggest gift was in a small package. It was an engagement ring. My late husband proposed to me on Christmas eve one year. It was a moment and gift that i can never forget.

Over the 20 years of my marriage, my biggest gifts have come from my husband. When I agreed to marry him, he gave me a 1.38ct fancy diamond set in an 18k ring with another 1.30ct diamonds. Since then, he has given me a 2.87ct diamond and several Cadillacs (sometimes for my birthday, sometimes just 'cause I needed a better car) as well as a Suburban one year for Valentine's Day. He has, pretty much given me everything I ever asked for except a mink coat. lol

The biggest gift that I received was a motorcycle. After I was accepted to a university, my parents bought it for me. I always appreciate. I feel very happy.

What a nice surprise! I can't recall ever getting any big or expensive gifts... though twice my husband claimed my car was a gift, lol. One car we got around Valentine's day, and due to purchasing the car he could not afford to get me any other gift... the second car was purchased on my birthday, and again because of it he couldn't get me any other gift.. so he will claim the vehicles were my gifts, though I do not agree, lol. Aside from that I probably haven't gotten a big or expensive gift my whole life, that I can remember.
