Our tax system has gotten way too complicated and out of control.
Have you ever heard about the Fairtax? www.fairtax.org
Make April 15 just another day!

There is also a very good book that explains what the pending legilation would really mean:

I hope you like it!

I too like and hate it. I don't like having to get everything together and trapsing down to the tax office only to have to sit and wait forever. Then once you do get in for your appointment, it takes forever to get it all done. We file long form, so it takes a little bit to do it all.
But, I do love getting money back. We have always gotten a nice chunk back.

I love tax season lol. Good thing I do because taxes are my life and I make a living from filing tax returns for others. My tax season never ends as there are different deadlines for individuals and companies and in between there are always some people who "forgot" to file their taxes before the deadline.
I normally get quite a lot back after I file my own tax return because in Iceland we get what is called "interest reduction" from interest we pay on our mortgages. For the average family in Iceland that owes more on their property than they own, they get back around $4.000.
Child benefits are also calculated after filing the tax return and is income related. People with low income and many children get substantial amounts paid either monthly or 4 times a year.

I am a tax preparer, so I am swamped during that time, but it means I am able to make some money so that is a great thing.
