I had to close down my account in FB yesterdat. I hate it when people comment and other people thinks it's true.
Well for you have to idea why: I lost my mobile phone a day ago and I posted my new contact number in FB and I've stated that the old number was lost together with the phone. Then some crazy person commented and said that I shouldn't have drank so that I've not lost the phone for some lady. My GF read the comment and reacted. I didn't want to argue so I didn't comment back but closed down the account instead. ARgh! Goodbye FB.~!

All you had to do was remove that person from your friends, and explain what really happened to your girlfriend. Besides, who is she likely to trust? You or that person from facebook. All this happens in the first place, because you are misusing facebook, it was originally meant to get your old school or college mates together or atleast your friends. And since accepting every single friend request you get is the new trend, this is the result of it. I am a regular facebook user and I can say with no doubt that you can have so much fun with friends in facebook with its fun applications, just don't misuse it. :D

as far as I know you can delete any comment that is posted on your wall.
one thing,..it is not a good idea to post your personal number on social networking sites, as these are the hubs of scammers..You could have invited a lot by posting very personal info such as phone numbers.

It is not the first time I’ve heard of people having relationship problems due to a comment on Facebook! I am a member there but I rarely log on. You could have kept the account, changed to private settings and the person involved could have been deleted as a friend but if you feel you no longer need the account it may be the best thing!

Hi basqui, I do have a fb account. I'm not an active user there. Few days back I logged in my account just for watching the latest photos of my relatives putting up there. Whenever my relatives or friends have their latest pictured uploaded they will inform me to have a look and add comment. most of the time I don't write anything after watching the photos. Occasionally I would hang around there randomly if I feel bored to get myself refreshed lol...Anyway it's okay as well to have one more site to pass the monotonous time once in a while. So I would like to keep it active still.
Happy posting

Why get so serious with it??
And i just dun understand this kind of situation, whereby our bf/gf, will choose to believe somebody else's words, rather than us!! haha =D It's good that u din argue with her over it, because it wont bring a close to the matter at all, once the suspicion is there..
Now that u closed the account, your GF might be even more suspicious, as she may think u have more to hide and thus u SHUT it DOWN!! haha

Well, that's a mess. I don't know why some people can't mind their own buisness. I have a full time job taking care of my own & i think most people wouild if they'd stay out of other's buisness.

I am sorry this happened to you. I have a FB account, and I don't have that many friends on my list, mostly family, if someone request a friendship I check out their profile and if I don't know them I don't accept. I don't post that much on FB, mostly a scripture or maybe a commment to some of the family, they are mostly younger adults anyway and I don't participate in their conversations.
Back to your point, it is ashame that some people don't have any respect for other people feelings, saying things like that make them feel like a big, wise and knowledgeable person in their eyes, when in reality they are just dumb and foolish. Just shake the dust off and keep on going. Don't let someone like that ruin your day. "This is the day the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it." Have a blessed day.

Yeah, blessed day to you too. I don't know anymore about my friends activities in FB since I opted to not receive any emails from FB anymore. So whatever happens there then it's their business now. I know some of my families and friends there would miss me but well I prefer to have my social life private now and earn on other sites online like mylot.

I too have a facebook account. I had someone make a rude comment on one of my posts. I just blocked him. He now can't have anything to do with me. I like facebook. I keep in touch with family and friends there. For earning money I come here or I go on sidetick.

Delete the comment and block the person, anyway why your girlfriend reacted that way? does she heard your side? it's the best move to close down your fb account if you really don't want to receive any comment and to stop the argument, I've seen so many people use fb account to say nasty thing to other even it's not true some of them tag the person there is no more privacy in facebook, i suggest we choose who we will in our facebook account.

well.., this isn't the first time i've heard a story about relationship issues brought about by facebook..good thing that the only thing you've lost is your facebook account...in some cases.., they even lost their girlfriends because of the same issues as you did..your partner thought you did something behind their back and discovered it in Fb...tsk tsk tsk..

What was the problem, what the person said, or how your girlfriend reacted?

I have noticed that there are alot of people that comment aswell as there are alot of people that will try to stir up trouble by putting the odd nasty comments.Alot of people have split up,due to facebook and the things that people type on there.I also know that there are alot of my friends that do not go on there anymore,as they are fed up of people trying to stir things up.

My friends and I do a lot of teasing bantering back and forth of facebook and for the most part I would say that there is no one that takes it seriously. Instead of shutting down your entire account, I think I would have removed the person that made the comment that was out of line from your friends list and then I would have explained to my girlfriend that what was said wasn't meant to hurt anyone in any way, it was just a joke that was taken out of proportion.
