My friend said that at least 4GB is required to install ORACLE. But my system hardisk is around 40GB means that is nothing but C drive. So in that i have installed so many softwares and now remaining space is only 2.75GB only. And one more thing is if i uninstall some softwares and then if i install that software then ORACLE will work properly?

Why do you need ORACLE for? If you do need it, you have two options... First: Buy a bigger hard disk.. Hard disk now it's really affordable, and if you don't know how to install an internal hard disk which would be cheaper than an external one, pay a little more for an external one.. Second: Delete some of your software that are installed in your computer. Make space for ORACLE. And I'm curious, how old is your computer, why is it only 40 GB?

Ooo... I missed that out, sorry.. Hmm.. you're unable to get an external or internal harddisk.. financial issue? If that's the case, try to look up freecycle in your country.. See whether anyone is actually giving away any computers or harddisk.. :) Sorry for the confusion.. I read your discussion and really wanted to help..

Yes, if you uninstall software, or delete files that you don't need, it should be able to install, you could buy a portable hard drive and try to install it on there, but it all depends on if your computer has a USB port where you could connect it to your computer. Otherwise, you'll have to uninstall programs or delete files.

Well how ever I know.. Oracle XE edition needs 2 GB of your hard disk to be run. which oracle version you are installing? and what's your RAM size? you can go on with installation.. it won't need more space if you are installing XE edition..

It would work properly but you still be needing a lot more extra space because when you start creating forms in oracle it would required a free enough space to use as a saving point for every entry.

Your options are: 1). delete/uninstall things you don't need. Try something like Treesize Free to see where the space is used up. 2). reformat the disk and start again (but you'll lose everything on it already). not much else...
