Have you notice if the telemarketers are not as pushy as they use too be. Do think the law that went into effect a few years back is helping that situation or is still getting worse? If you are getting calls who are they from mostly what I mean is retailers, contractors, doctors or charities etc. What methods have you used to stop them from calling? Thanks and have great day! I have caller ID. If I do not know someone, I do not answer it. I have some that if I do know them, I do not answer. Mostly I get things like politicians and Fraternal Order of Police.

They still seem to be pretty pushy to me. Some of them aren't but that is probably because they aren't working on commission. The ones working on commission are the pushy ones. I always get telemarketers calling me up till 9. I get atleast one telemarketer every 2 days. I just don't answer, my phone has a long distance ring, so we just don't answer when we hear that ring because that's always the telemarketers.

Hello for3everfamous, Now what kind of phone did you buy that it has a differnt ring for long distance calls? I never knew the new phones can do this! That is way cool. Thank you for the reply. I agree about the commision people are more determined to get a sale then just the ones who do not get a commision. Have a great day! Sincerely unique16

I signed up for the Do Not Call list when it was created a few years ago, and have gotten very few telemarketer calls since then. I'd recommend signing up for it if you haven't already, if you live in the U.s. Some calls still come through: calls from charitable groups, polling organizations, etc. are exempt from the Do Not Call registry.

I didn't know cell phones could go on a do not call list. I've never had much of a problem with telemarketers calling on my cell (maybe because there's apparently so phone directory for cell phone #'s).

I don't get any telemarketer calls anymore. I got rid of my landline and only use my cellphone now, so I thought that was the reason. I also put my number on the no call list. I do still get some sales calls, but they seem to be from places that I have credit cards with, like Sears. It is so much better now. I used to hate getting all of those calls!

Hello hmkoct5, Thank you for reply. That is good point with so many people haveing cell phones. I heard that you can put your cell phone on the do not call list too. Have you done that as well? Yes, I have notice decrease in these type of calls. I still get calls once in while to a survey because my daughter thought it would be neat when she does her shopping (lol). Thanks and have a great day! Sincerely Unique16

I used to get them all the time on my home phone. I finally put my number on that Do Not Call list and they got less and less. Last year I had the home phone disconnected since I use my cell phone more. It saved some money and no more of those telemarketer calls! I have on a rare occasion received a call on my cell ohone. The last one I received was kind of funny. It was from a army office trying to recruit me. He asked me.."Have you thought about your future after high school?" I informed him that I graduated almost 20 years ago. His next question was..."What about your son or daughter?". I laughed at him and told him I did not have any children in which he responded..."Oh..sorry." Which annoyed me somewhat. I guess he felt sorry for me since I did not have children. I am proud to say I am child free!

Hello Lulu1220, I think he was saying sorry because he disturbed you after he realise he was not going to get anything from you. There is nothing wrong by not having children. Blieve I wish I was in your shoes. I have two daughters ages 21 and 18 being in college this fall. One the has a car the other does not because I do not make enough to have them both on my car insurance policy. Shawn my younges tis ok on waiting till she learns how to drive and the pass the test and I will think about for her. I want her concentrate on college and book work etc.. It is funny since he did not know you were in thirties or fourties etc.. Thanks and have a great day! Sincerely unique16

I seem to get telemarketing calls at all hours of the day or night. They even call me as late as 10 p.m. It can be very annoying to hear the phone ring and rush to answer only to find it was a telemarketer.

Herro unique16 I have gotten telemarketing calls as late as 9pm and as early as 8am. Very frustration. Although we have caller id on our TV screen, we do have business's that call in using a 1-800 number. We can screen is we recognize. However, we fixed that problem. It will take effect in about 15 more days. We found the no call list on the internet and signed up out land line and our cells. Yes, we have been getting sales calls on our cells. No call registry should fix that problem soon. You have to give them 31 days to get the registry out to telemarketers. WaHoo, I am counting the days. Prosperous mylotting

Oh yes, that law really did help. And if someone does call soliciting me anything, I can always tell them to take my name and number off of their list. By law, they are required to do that. However, I do still get calls from charities. I never tell them not to call me, or to take me off their list. I always hope that if I can't help them this time, maybe next time they call I can.

Hi AmbiePam, I am like you with chaities. I feel I may help them one year sometimes it two or three years before I can help again. For the most part charties are cool about they approach you over the phone and I never found any that were really rude so that is bonus for charities. Thanks for the reply. Have a great day!
