Are you a shopaholic?

I am. Everytime I go to the mall or store, I'll have to buy something. Most of it's makeup, cosmetics and fashion accessories. I can't help myself buying all these things, my makeup bag is almost flooded with a bunch of makeup products and my closet and drawers are filled with clothes I don't use always. I'm only 16 but I think I've wasted a few hundred bucks on designer clothes and items.. I think I have a problem, but I know that what I'm doing is wrong. I'm trying to apply for a job to balance my money and savings but I'm scared that'll make me want to shop more.. I think I need help

I'm not a shopaholic but if I go into a shop like books shops, electronics, gadgets, musical instruments etc. I will wonder around all day and buy what I find that I really want, as long as I have money for it I will probably get what I see until I run out of cash. I don't use credit cards. That's why it's a good thing that I will only go gadget shopping once every 2-3 months :)

I like online shopping, and I usually don't buy anything because I don't have the money right the, but if I pre-order something that won't come out for months, I know I'll probably have the money by then to pay for it.

I like pre-ordering and buying stuff online too. I'm trying to stay home and avoid shops at the moment.

I actually can't categorize myself as a shopaholic because I still can control myself from buying things I like. Specially if the price is too expensive and unreasonable gfor the product. But just like you, There are also times where I buy clothes that I dont wear.

There are times when all i like to do is window shop. It is rare that i won't come back from a shopping excperience without a little something. I guess you could call me a shopaholic for that reason.

You are still young triselle, so if you feel like this is a problem, you should indeed get help now, because the problem will only get worse the older you get, and then it will be harder to deal with. So since you have already realized that you have this issue, do something about it now! Good luck!

Looks you are much interested in looking good! That's a nice thing but see that u spend on things only which u need rather than trying on things which are introduced recently and spending way too much on them Think before you spend a penny "Is it useful for me?" Be "Pocket Friendly " :D :)

Hi, triselle Welcome to Mylot. I am not a shopaholic. But I do love going to the mall and look around. I do not have to buy anything. I just enjoy walking around and seeing things. Maybe you need to learn how to save money. What about opening up a bank account and putting some amount there everytime you receive your allowance? Take care and have a nice day!

Wow, it sounds so easy for you to walk into a mall and window shop.. By the way, I do have a bank account and I'm only allowed to withdraw $25 and I rarely use my bank account. The only time I'm a shopaholic is when I'm with my mom because she has all the money, credit cards, visa, etc. When I see something I want to buy I ask for it and sometimes she'll let me. But when she doesn't want me to buy it, I'll act angry and extremely stubborn. I don't think I have an problem, maybe I'm just a spoiled teenager..

Maybe you can ask your family or friends to help you in some way. They could be with you when you are at the mall and urge you not to buy things. I was also a semi-shopaholic a few years back when I was in high school and college. Now, I don't feel the urge to buy stuff every time I am in the mall. I guess I learned the value of hard-earned money now that I am working. Now I just spend my money on necessities. Sometimes, like once or twice a month, I treat myself to a new dress or two.

I understand that it's hard to earn money, that's why I should look for a job.

Hi, I think you should stop your shopping habit. Since you are only 16 years old,it is too young for you to be a shopaholic. I guess at this age, you are still schooling. If you already work and earn your own income, then of course, you can spend on your money. However, it does not mean that you have to always spent money whenever you go out to shopping mall. You also always go for windown shopping,it is Great too. I used to shop alot when I was single. But I was working that time,so I spent on my own money, that's all right. But if I were to think back, I was actually wasting alot of money on unnecessary things and I am so regret. Now, I don't shop alot and I only buy those things that I really need it. Or else, I won't go for shopping. I prefer to save my money for travelling and emergency used. Maybe the life I am going through now has changed my thinking. Being a mother, it definitely change me to another person, a motherhood life. Therefore, spent wisely and try to save money for your future.

I understand the hardships of my mother trying to provide for my family. It was stupid for me to think that just because my mom makes a good salary, it would be okay for me to spend it on whatever I liked. How dumb of myself.

Definitely not. I believe that there are more important matters to dwell on than to go shopping. I shop at times, but not really get so obsessed into it. I shop whenever I have extra bucks and If I feel the need of buying new items. It is really tough to earn money nowadays, we have to save and make wise decisions in buying.

Before i'm a shopaholic i buy anything that make me feel good, but now not anymore i have to keep my money for NEEDS and not for WANTS, i know you will learn soon how to keep your money for not buying unnecessary things, if you already have make-up restrain yourself to buy again, or why not have a book and list the thing that you already bought, budget your money.

My shopping spree has gone insane, I have more than 15 brand name/designer of lip glosses, foundation, powder and clothing. It's really gotten out of hand.. and you're probably like "Why does a 16 year old have so much makeup?". I asked myself that question too and realized all this junk I bought.
